Anyone know what kinda polish you can use on the black ss? I got some micro scratches from dust under my bumper guard that won’t come off with a cloth....

Picked up my 42mm SSSB S3 today, an upgrade from a 42mm SS Silver S2. Slightly sceptical about the Black at the moment but it is a keeper. It feels smaller than the silver SS for some reason. Tried a few of my many bands on it and the only one I am not happy with is the tan Apple Leather strap - though to be fair it is about a year since I last wore it :)

The speed over the S2 is amazing and loving the LTE!

Here are a few of the obligatory hairy arm photos. Apple Black Milanese, Apple Silver SS Milanese,Nike Black/Green and 3rd party blue.

Also I must mention the battery life. 10 hours in, playing all day and battery down from 76% when I put it on to 50%. I have used it much more than my S2 and even have used about 30 mins LTE! Really good so far!

You really can't use any polish on the black SBSS. If it's abrasive enough to actually impact the coating, then you run the risk of thinning it, wearing through it to the steel underneath.

Plus, you could dull the lustre of the finish. Not something you'd really want to do!!!

Bumper guard??

Ouch that looks nasty, hope you didn't injure yourself too much. My Stainless Steel Series 0 has scratches that just won't polish out (some have come out tho) so i was thinking of getting the Black Stainless Steel this time around, i think it looks good. I'm just not sure if i should keep my Series 0 for another year or upgrade to the Series 3 now, i don't need LTE, i do go for a run so the fitness aspect of the Apple Watch i really like, most of all it's battery improvement i'm looking for.

@Dave245 - the S3 does have insanely better battery life than S0 (especially if you keep the LTE use to a minimum) - but, you being a runner - if you do cross-country, you may be interested in its barometric altimeter - so your workouts will now include the elevation dynamic.

@HeadphoneAddict - Damn man, break any bones or just the scrapes?! :) Hope you have AC+ on that watch so you weren't out of pocket to get it replaced!!!

I ended up with abrasions all up my right leg, a sprained right knee and hand, and then an infection of the right leg where my foot pedal gouged my shin. My hand still isn't 100% as I think I tore the ligament between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpals. And I keep getting fluid in my right knee (like tonight). So I'm fine.

The Apple Watch still ran fine afterwards, and AC+ replaced the watch and bent bracelet for $49. I bought a Series 2 the day after the accident while waiting a week for the replacement, and then my son wore the replacement until I bought a Series 3 LTE on the release day. I handed my Series 2 down to him, and he handed the replacement watch down to his sister.

Better battery life in Series 2 and 3 is the biggest difference, followed by a little better speed. I'd do the upgrade now.

I’ve had the Series 0 42 SS since launch. It’s been a great watch for the basics but is getting a bit slow and battery life is beginning to struggle with the latest OS.

I just picked up a Series 2 42 SBSS (with black sports band) to replace it. I had my mind set on the Series 3 SS model, but couldn’t pass up the current deal on the Series 2 42mm SBSS at Best Buy ($429 less a 10% coupon I had = $386). The current refurbished price at Apple for the same model is $469.

My only concern with the SBSS was the compatibility with my bands. I have 2 sports bands (Product Red & Ocean Blue) along with a Flash Sport Loop (which I think will look great) and the Black Classic Leather band. I think they all should work. The one I’m concerned about is the black classic leather band due to the SS lugs. I’m curious to see how that combo works.

Gone from the same colour combo as you - SS silver to SSSB. The only strap that really doesn't work IMO for me is the classic tan leather. The SS lugs on the black leather look ok to me. Surprisingly, I think the SS Milanese looks better than the black one I have :)

Space Black Series 3 with the new Grey sports band. I love this combination as there is something about the grayness of the watch and the band matching up better than the included black band does.

I feel that there is a subtle difference to the space black this year, it seems a bit more smoky in natural light whereas the older watches were more piano black.

This guy says it is close to the color of the Mac Pro Cylinder case and I am inclined to agree. Love it.

Yeah that photo is hard to see the gray band but I like outdoor shots as they look for natural. Any other photos of that combo?

Good thing you had Apple Care. Did you have to go to a store to set up the repair or could you do it online? Did they have to wait for your old one to arrive before they shipped a new one?

I could have done it online, but went to the store. They ordered the watch and band to arrive at the store and then had me bring back the wrecked watch and band once the replacements arrived. Then I did the exchange in the store on that second visit.

This is why I don't wear a $10,000 Omega or Rolex while riding...

I've only used the new SBSS for a day but there are a couple of things that I'm really liking already. I went for a run with it today and I can actually see the face in full sunlight now. Much brighter than the Original. Also the GPS is going to be nice for runs, biking, etc... when I'm not carrying my phone. As for the speed increase over the original....it's definitely faster, but doesn't seem blindingly faster. I imagine the real speed bump comes with the Series 3? However, for $386, I can live with it as-is for the next year or so. I'm loving the Flash sports loop with it.

Enjoy, mate! I also got the SS SB a couple of weeks ago. Was thinking of returning and going for the cermaic SG, but couldn't justify it and in all honesty, the SB colour really grew on me.

Looking to pick-up the SB link bracelet at some point in the future. It's a considerable amount of money to pay for a band, though...

I have a knock-off that's in Canadian Customs at the moment, so I'll let you know how it compares....should have it in the next week or so. It's made by Fantek...whose sport bands are a dead ringer for Apple's, so I have pretty high expectations. :)

The Apple link band is very expensive, but also VERY nice. Love mine, and has been extremely durable.

Nice! Look forward to seeing some pictures. Hope you enjoy it! :)
And it's in.

Can you guess which is which? :)

Here's the link on Amazon (Canada): https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01EJ04S22/

Edit:

And here it is on my S0

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_633.jpg

The fit and finish are bang on.

The only differences (and giving the comparison above away) :) The knock-off is a little more black and there's a little bit of space in the butterfly clasp - it isn't quite as precise as Apple's.

But for $65 Canadian (with free shipping from China?) You really can't knock it! :) The shipping is very SLOOOOW however...tell yourself in advance you're going to be waiting about a month.
