I did the same thing you did. Bought the space gray and then returned it this week. I was fortunate that my local Apple Store got the SB in this week and it seems to they are getting more in. The have both SS and Space Black in stock now. Hopefully yours will come soon. Good luck.
It does still amaze me the constraint with the Apple Watch Series 2, being it's been on the market now since September.
Got it today! It was worth the wait. Awesome! It really feels solid.
Ok. Here it is. I didn't like the way the sport band fit, so I bought an Apple leather loop. I like the way it fits, not crazy about the shinny opening for the strap. Maybe I'll paint it black. I'm really liking this watch.

The leather loop looks really sharp paired with the black stainless. And that is one my favorite bands I own. Nice choice.
Nice combo - it's one I keep thinking about picking up. I really love mix-and-match ability of the Watch, and the Space Black still has it in abundance. 
Cool thanks for posting this. I have a Series 0 Aluminium and I have been wondering how the SSSB would hold up over time. It will definitely be my next purchase if they keep the colour.Here's a pic of my Series 0 SSSB. I ordered it on launch and have worn it every day since it arrived.
I bought the SB Milanese Loop when it came available, and really love it. The Watch body has micro-abrasions on it, but you need to look really hard to see anything. The strap is in perfect condition; I think being flexible makes it even more resistant to knocks or scratches.
When I come to upgrade it will be another SSSB for me.
Just got my AW2 Space Black SS last night. Still learning how everything works and will follow up on durability once I've had some more time with it.
