Well, that's messed up. I get that for computers, but they're supposed to be competing with Watch companies now. You could be anywhere on the planet and AppleCare+ should be expressing you a new watch.

I think you should send Tim Cook an e-mail - I'm sure their escalation team will realize this is something they've missed.

I might bring it up, but as long as it gets sorted I'm happy. Only here for another week. Can still use my sport band for now.

You are about to be overcharged - challenge what you have been quoted when you get home!

For UK customers, Express Replacement is included as part of your AppleCare+ benefits, with nothing extra to pay on top of the standard excess.

Very interesting! Thanks for that! I will mention that in their T&C it does say that I have 3 options and in the Express Replacment option there is no mention of any additional cost.

Will look over it properly later, but from what I can see, section 7.4.3 mentions nothing about additional cost for express replacement.

Thanks!!

The guy on the phone said it would show up as 2 separate charges. £55 for the excess and £29 as a courier fee or something.

Look after your watches guys!! The coating is solid and does not have a single mark on it, but the metal it is attached to night not be quite so robust.
It's a good lesson. I am sorry that you had to learn it for us. So glad I bought Apple Care Plus!

Thanks for sharing, glad you can still wear your sport band and get on with your holiday :)

You're welcome :)

There is definitely nothing extra to pay.

I'd also complain about what the guy on the phone told you. He needs to be re-trained.

Regional considerations are part of the terms - eg AppleCare+ for UK customers:

"If You make a claim in a different country from that in which You bought the Covered Equipment, Apple or the Apple Authorised Service Provider may repair or exchange products and parts with locally comparable products and parts."

Given those terms (which buyers have accepted), I don't think it's unreasonable if an immediate replacement isn't offered in a country (in this case, Italy) where the product hasn't launched yet.

Also, AppleCare+ comprises of two elements: an extended hardware warranty provided by Apple and accidental damage cover that is provided by a local insurer.

I'm happy my 42mm XX:06 order safely on my wrist

Spigen Apple watch stand, cable neatly tucks away and the watch just sits there while charging, great value for money at £17.99 (the bubbles on the watch are because of a screen protector and that's the best I could do with the application, not bothered about a few bubbles though as long as the watch face stays protected)

I tried mine with a screen protector and got fed up as the edges peeled. Then decided to use it naked. As per my posts above I dropped it and damaged the case, screen is still 100% perfect.

Due to the fact I'll be getting a replacement when I return to the UK I've even let my 1.5 year old nephew play with it and the entire watch still looks brand new after a quick buff with a cloth. Except for where it has been dropped and damaged the casing of course.

Just don't drop it onto solid floors and you'll be fine to be honest. No need for a screen protector or anything else. As per my previous posts. Even after the drop the DLC is totally unmarked, despite the metal it is attached to being damaged.

Oh, also....I called back Apple about the £29 Express Replacement fee and the guy on the phone said that only applies if your don't have AppleCare+. If you have AppleCare+ it's just the £55 excess and obviously they place a hold on your card for a replacement watch (£530!!) until they get the damaged one back, then they release all of it back except for £55.

I also think that either the customer service people are not fully trained or the website is wrong. The Apple website says when you get an express replacement you also get an empty box and instructions on how to return the old one, etc and it has to be returned in 10 working days.

The customer service reps say no, you MUST swap it at the door with the courier. No ifs, buts or maybes. However the UK Apple website says that only applies to the iPhone, not the watch!

Anyway, will deal with it when I get back. Not really liking the sport band for use all day every day. Then again it's also nice not having to be too worried about knocking it or whatever because it's already damaged and getting replaced anyway upon my return to the UK.

Thanks for that! Good to see the DLC coating is every bit as tough as what we've been hoping for! :)

I will keep the screen protector on just in case, I understand you say the screen is unmarked but for £949 I'm not trusting anything I really am not bothered about a few bubbles as long as it protects my screen, I've also purchased a small case that clips around the edges http://www.spigen.co.uk/store/smart-watches/apple-watch/apple-watch-case-thin-fit-42mm.html#.VWdW9FJ4WJI in the smooth black colour I was worried it would look out of place but looking at the picture it is the exact same colour as the watch and doesn't really look out of place at all although yet to receive it so will update once received on how it looks

I've had the Stainless Steel silver watch with saphire screen since launch day and can confirm you don't need a screen protector for it.

I put one on mine but felt it took away from the overall look of the watch. Most importantly, theres no damage to my screen. I am just very careful with it. Looks as good as new. Obviously its your watch and your decision, just wanted to share my experience.

I am as careful as anyone with any of my apple products I cherish them (sad I know) I have today received my case for the watch just fits snug around the edges protecting them, doesn't look to much just gives that extra protection, I understand about a screen protector the problem being the more you try to be careful the more I find your more likely to knock it because your always thinking about it, mine hasn't a scratch on it looks brand new as if it has just come out of the box, waiting on my BSB to arrive I purchase one for work as I am a security guard and thought this would probably be best just hope changing the strap is easier than removing links because I found my fingers were way to big thinking maybe a wooden cocktail stick (toothpick) might be a good idea

Right, called Apple first thing on Tuesday morning to sort my Express Replacment. New watch body arrived today and the old one is packed up, being collected tomorrow by UPS.

Apple placed a hold on my credit card for £530 to cover the watch Replacment, but told me once they receive the old one back they will release all of it back to my card except for the £55 excess for my AppleCare+ replacement after they inspect it and deem that the watch is damaged in the way I told them and indeed covered by AppleCare+.

I got the email from Apple today confirming that the Space Black will not be sold in stores until the back log is processed, and my delivery estimate changed from 'June' to '24 June to 30 June'. My order was placed at 08:32 on the 10th.

Is everyone else in a similar position?

Ordered 15th May was w/c July 7th now w/c June 24th

All good if true :)
