I have been on the fence on whether to buy the SB SS with SB or the SS with Project Red band. I know I can buy the red and add it to a SB, but I'm still torn.

I'm used to wearing G-shock watches, so I'm leaning towards the SB SS.
SB SS with the Black sport band and buy the red band on the side. The red band is my favorite one that I own, but i can't wear it everyday, so its nice to have the black band as well.

If you find the leather loop not holding well, definitely assess the Milanese before you commit. When trying in store, I found the leather loops to hold better than the Milanese. They both work similar with the magnetic closure. I got a black leather loop. Like it a lot. Might get a blue one too eventually.

I want to get the black leather loop, but the pic just posted of the stone with the SB SS looks pretty damn good. Now its got me thinking...

I was in the Apple Store today to get a new band for my SBSS and I also liked the looks of the stone band posted above but the Apple Store only had a midnight blue one for me to try on. The midnight blue was also a color I was interested in along with the black. I really wished I could have tried on the stone but since I couldn't I went with the Black Leather Loop.

I guess I'm just not the type to have something stand out or I may wave gone with the shiny SS instead of the black. The shiny watches and bright color bands look good on others, just not me.

AND... To top it off I have until January 8th to take the band back if I decide I don't like it. I guess they have started their extended return policy for Christmas.

The black looks amazing with the Space Black. I may have to spring for both the stone and the black, especially since there really aren't any other OEM bands that interested me besides more sport bands. With all the bands I've picked up, I'm going to be pissed if the AW2 isn't compatible with them.

Here's my space black with the now discontinued "bright blue" leather loop.

So why did they change the shade of blue on the LL? Was the first batch (until the Sept color refresh) truly lighter? Or did it just get lighter over time from UV exposure?

Anyone have both blue LL's side by side to show the difference?

Yeah, the bright blue is lighter than the current midnight blue. I don't own the new version, but I saw it in the Apple Store.

Well I just picked up the midnight blue tonight... Here's a pic... Not the same lighting as your pic (under fluorescent in mine) but it does appear darker...

Was the original blue LL called 'midnight blue' or just 'blue'?

The original leather loop was called 'bright blue leather loop', now it's called 'midnight blue'.

My 42mm SBSS with 3rd Party (JETech) Black Milanese Loop band. Lovin' it!

Is the band use DLC coating as well? I am interested in this band for some time already, but I worry that the black paint is easy to peel off (if it's not DLC).

If possible, can you make a little review say after 2 weeks? Million thanks in advance!

One thing I really like about the Space Black (which I own) is the display sapphire glass and the body meld together perfectly.

In pictures online they look a little different, the body looks a lighter colour ever so slightly. But in the real world unless you're pointing a torch right at the watch the glass and the steel body look exactly the same, a rich dark black.

It almost gives the watch this obsidian look and if you thought the effect of the display and the glass melding together was good on the normal Steel when you look at it on the Space Black it's even more exaggerated, leaves a really nice impression.

Personally I think that both the Steel and the Space Black Steel look great. For me I loved the one piece all black look and it really pops with red bands, red being my favorite colour.

I've actually had it for a while now and its held up great. Being that it only cost me $25 i doubt its coated with DLC.

I actually decided to exchange my Space Black for a Stainless Steel and the black milanese loop band still looks great on the stainless steel.

SS will match so many bands. Black SS will scratch, SS will polish out. Even knowing that I got a black SS

Thanks for the info. It seems pretty safe to get this one :D

Is everyone who purchased the SBSS still happy? Anyone regretting their purchase, or are you still loving the SB watch and durability?

Since they've come down in price, I'm considering the SBSS but I am nervous that the durability isn't up to snuff. Is that true, or is it still just as new looking 6-12mos later?

Mine is still in great condition. I use the link bracelet maybe 50% of the time, but when I'm working out I'll switch to one of my sport bands (have black and red one). These are really comfortable too and very easy to switch.

That's good to hear, thanks. I've found some SBSS sales and was thinking of getting it. It's a good enough price even if there is a new AW2 coming out in the next 6months. However, if it scratches easily or doesn't hold up, even in 6months, it's not worth it. Thanks!

That sounds like me. Any regrets? Any major scratches?

I am a SBSS owner, order it from day 1, one of the 1st batch people wearing it.

I wear it 20+ hour a day, normal wear style, not babying it, but not too rough either.

Not a single silver scratch on my watch, screen still perfect. I must say that some "line" in light black colour on the band (only visible in correct lighting, and the watch body is still prefect), but I didn't find out if that's a scratch or mark.

It's possible to have some marks on the DLC coating which can be removed by something like gun oil.

I didn't try to remove them, because they are not that visible (at least not eye catching at all). And it still looks much much better than my full of scratch silver Rolex (Submariner).

Thanks, awesome! So a good almost 12 months of full wear and still pretty pristine.

You have the link band? That's the one I'm worried most about, considering price and the fact that I would wear it a lot. I often scrape my bands on my MacBook Pro a lot so I'll have to train myself out of that if I get the band.

All third party bands, though MUCH cheaper, looks MUCH cheaper. The paint wears off quickly, looking very cheap. I love the SBSS link band look, but It better be practically impenetrable for that price!

If you're only looking for the hardest watch to scratch, get the black SS. Although, some managed to do it, there are many threads that talk about how hard it is to scratch. And of those people who managed to do it, the majority of that few seemed to be talking about marks on the DLC link band, rather than the actual watch body.

I've heard the SS body scratches easier than the sport.

However, that's not important if the SS is the one that looks best to you. You're going to be looking at it every time you want to check the time, so don't buy the wrong one :D

That's good to know. Yeah, I have seen a LOT of SS and Sport scratches (I see more display scratches with the sport, ouch!) but I have not seen very many SBSS. So I'm glad you're confirming the fact that it's very durable.

I know with the SS, you can buff it out, but you can't with the SBSS. I know myself that little scratches might aggravate me because there's not much that can be done. I was hoping that either a. it's extremely durable and doesn't really get scratched/worn or b. if it does, it doesn't look bad (people say the wear of a watch can add to it, but that could just be someone justifying their bad purchase!).

I wanted some SBSS owners' views and it's confirming my hopes that it's super durable. So a definite go on the SBSS watch! Yessss!

Normally, I would NEVER get something so close to an Apple Keynote (with the potential for a new product announcement), but I just can't resist the enchantment of the midnight black watch....and the fact that I can get it for a good deal. :)
