My only criticism of the home key/sensor ring area of the space gray/black phone is that it makes the dust collection easier to see. I don't know if making the sensor ring gray would have been enough to make the dust less apparent, though.

I'm glad the ring is black. I bought the Space Gray because I want a completely black face. I'd be annoyed if there was a grey ring smack dab in the middle of it.

It's space grey; due to the fact that it's surrounded by all black, it looks darker.

This is just a result of your eyes (or rather your brain) being tricked.

The white one looks lighter because it's surrounded by all white.

Ah no. It's clearly a glossy black.

Oh m gosh!!!

This is awful, I can't believe the ring isn't Space Gray!!! My iPhone is going back immediately!!!! :D

I kind of don't understand some people's snarky comments on this thread. People have different preferences, that's what it comes down to. Some people love the all-black front ... I love the buttons of the white iPhones ... I was going to get a black phone this year, but when I saw it during the presentation, it didn't draw me to it like the other 2 did. Part of that was because of the button.

I agree...the whole point of having forums are to share your ideas/thoughts. People that are just knocking other's thoughts is pointless and a waste of time. That being said, I agree with the fact that the space gray just didn't attract me as much. I like the idea of not having the square on the home button. I also like how the silver looks, so I bought the white/silver. I could care less if others see my phone and say "it's a 5s". I just like how the ring looks so much better than past home buttons.

Agreed. I don't choose my phone based on what others will think about it, I choose it because it is what *I* like.

By the same token, if someone wants to spend *their* money on a particular phone because they want people to recognize that it's a 5s, it's not really anyone else's business. People are allowed to spend their money however they want to and for whatever reason they choose. Just my two cents.

I wouldn't change mine. I really like this phone. I always like my new iPhone and then after a year they become slow and outdated. Then I upgrade :)

Exactly. You couldn't have explained it better.

I thought so too. Solved the problem though:

Staples sells poster boards and magic markers. I wrote "NOT A 5, I HAVE A 5S!" On it. My kids added some stickers and glitter for effect.

I wear it around my neck when I go out. Now everyone knows. I get high fives and respect, where before everyone just thought I had a crappy 5.

Glad I was able to help

I find that the home button on the space grey model shows fingerprints more easily.

I feel the same as the OP. I returned my space grey and am still waiting on a gold just because it looked so awkward to me... Weird but I didn't want to be bothered by that every time I looked at my phone until I get my next one

I too am bothered by the lack of a space gray ring on my new 5s (as the box shows). The color contrast would have been awesome and would have fit the 5s line better.

Odd that this color didn't get the same design element as the other two. The new commercial for the gold 5s focuses on the gold ring coming in at the end. Space gray ring would've been sweet. Odd design misstep by Apple. Kind of annoying because I don't want a white phone.

Not sure what you're talking about; mine is space gray. It's just not as reflective as silver or gold, and the surface of the ring doesn't catch the light at the same angle as the chamfered edges.
