because they're not following one particular order of shipping, contrary to what everyone else here seems to think

For the last time, THEY ARE ... based on region. In the US they're into the 6min mark, other countries are a bit behind. Sure there will be the inevitable unit or two that slip through, but out of the hundreds of thousands that go thru, you're going to say it's chaos based on less then 1 percent receiving theirs ahead of others?

Everyone here seems to that because that is what appears after reading all the posts of that thread and the other ones. And just because it makes sense that the guys at Apple need to follow a particular order to process all the orders from around the world.

The shipping date depends on:
- the order date on Apple servers;
- the model;
- the destination.

I believe that's right. It's the date on the Apple servers, not the date when your order confirmation email arrives. Unfortunately, only Apple knows the order watches are actually ordered and when they'll be available for delivery — we have to trust they are doing so fairly, but the uncertainty is bound to make some people upset.

If you live in the LA area Maxfields had 42mm Sport Space Gray ordered Yesterday and picked up today!

WOW!

:eek:

After reading the Maxfields thread, I'm not at all jealous — it sounds like a miserable shopping experience. They only sell a few hundred a day at most and there's no guarantee they have the model you want. One guy waited in line for nine hous only to be sent home even though they still had watches to sell. Plus, you're only able to return a watch for store credit. All in all, I'm glad I don't still live in Southern California as I'm sure I'd be tempted to run over there and go through that hassle.

Actually I've read that people have been going later in the day with much less wait and pre ordering models that are coming within about 48 hours while those of us that preordered three weeks ago sit here and twiddle our thumbs waiting for our watches.

Okay — I see your point. I was thinking of people that wanted it on launch day — that day didn't sound like a fun day at Maxfield.

Of course, you still have to drive through that LA traffic. I can't help but think it'd be better to go to the store in Paris.

I fully agree that it is a miserable shopping experience especially with the Russian component but as the time goes by it is becoming more civilized and people are getting product much faster.

Apple is dropping a new pallet of watches to the store every day.

I don't get what the big deal is about Maxfield. We all know that the watch is being marketed as a fashion accessory. They picked a unique store to showcase the watch in a fashion conscientious locale. It's purely marketing. Sure it means some people will be able to get it before those that pre-ordered, but that's the way marketing works (also why some celebrities got them before launch). We're talking about a couple hundred a day. Not much of an impact on global shipments. The odds of one of those watches advancing any particular person's shipment by just ONE day is slim to none.

No no no! This multi billion dollar company has absolutely no idea what the order is. Some people who haven't even decided if they're going to buy one have recieved 3 watches already. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are simply pulling names out of a hat and praying for the best.

Team,

This forum has been a tremendous support!!! From tracking planes to refreshing web pages! I hope everyone gets theirs soon! Good luck to all!

Haha. I do own a very small number of shares, but honestly I expect more from the richest company in the world. I did order when it estimated a shipping date of June so that is my own fault, but how can they allow people who did not preorder their product to randomly walk into some high scale fashion boutique and get it within 48 hours while people who pre ordered weeks ago (read as loyal Apple customers for many years) still have to wait another month to get the product. That's poor execution in my opinion.

How about makes me feel a bit jealous of those who have them already and upset that literally anyone who can walk into Maxfields can get a watch within 48 hours while people who preordered a couple of weeks ago and don't live in the area still have to wait another month. It just doesn't seem right.

It's called business. Apple may have had a deal for this store to preorder ahead of the queue based on a fixed commitment and maybe a even a premium price. So what? Business is business. If it did not work for you too bad. But for Apple it is making lots of publicity and people in business will tell you there is no such thing as bad publicity.

I'm aware. It still sucks for people who are loyal and ordered way before these other people. Not a well executed launch.

Look up the word alienate. It's not what you think it means. A very few select group of people are able to get the watch without pre-ordering. There's not that much more to it. No need to take it personally. It's a pure business/marketing strategy. If it helps sell more watches, I'm all for it. More sales/profits leads to continued innovation and a watch ver2.
