Hey Row-dog, I was wondering when you were going to stick your snout in here... :D

Did the toy...ota reference get ya??? :D You could also insert hondo/a or just about any other cheap-assed japaneze car in it's place.

I thought of something today, as I was riding the Harley home... Has anyone else noticed how the Japanese auto makers follow the US makers??? Take trucks for instance, the US makers had them LONG before the Japanese had them on the market... How about SUV's?? Same thing there too... Hell, I think even the German makers did it before the Japanese did... Come to think of it, I have yet to see a BMW or Mercedes brand truck on the road... Do they even make them, or do they just do SUV's (for that type of vehicle)??

You can keep your Found On Road Dead, or Fix Or Repair Daily...

Meanwhile the Japanese and German motor companies are working on making cars to take into the next century (hybrid, hydrogen, etc)...and Ford release an electric car that looks like a ****ing golf cart.

Funnnnny row-dog... Thing is, I never had to do anything other then routine maintenance on my first truck (a leased 99 Ranger XLT) and fully expect the same from the 2002 that I am purchasing (turned in the lease this year and decided to buy this time around).

You can keep the Japanese and German vehicles... if someone was to give me one, chances are, I would sell it to some poor schmuk and use the money for something better... Like more accessories for the Harley. :D

You CANNOT tell me you actually like what honda's hybrid car looks like... what a ****ing joke that thing is. I seriously doubt that ANY electric vehicle/engine will have enough power to replace the gas burner inside mine... They also don't have the travel power... With a gas vehicle, you can litterally go on forever (if you have a spare driver) stopping only to eat. With the electric's you have to charge them sometime. The electric motors/engines also don't develop enough power to suit everyone... Who really knows if they ever will...

To me, the electric car is a novel idea, but the execution leaves much to be desired (from ANY auto maker).

I also, seriously, hope that Harley NEVER caves to pressure to put anything other then a gas powered engine inside of it's products... Considering how a Harley, right out of the factory will get ~50mpg highway and ~45 around town... What car out there (with the same power to weigh ratio) can do that??? :p :D

Glad you like those. I learned them from a mechanic.;)

I never said I liked the looks of those cars. I think they look like crap. But the performance and economy and "green factor" are big things these days.

Fossil fuels are a thing of the past, and it's only because of the huge oil/auto lobby that we're still using them.

I like it... :D

Since I started driving trucks (and a SUV before that) I will never go back to having a car... There is a lot to be said for being higher on the road then the people in cars. For one thing, I can see several cars ahead of me, to see which ******* is slowing us down. :p :D Hell, I can do that on the Harley as well. Plus, the motorcycle is much more maneuverable then a car is.

I also enjoy how those low riding cars (the same ones with the stereo systems with waaaayyyyy too much subwoofer) shrink away from every little dip in the road, where I just roll over them (in the truck). I also enjoy watching those same cars try to move come winter up here (and the snow). While they are spinning their wheels, I just keep on moving (switch on the fly/demand 4 wheel drive). Hell, most of the time I don't even need a shovel to get out of the driveway (haven't needed to even get one since I moved last year). Before a snow store, I just back in, then put it into 4x4 mode. When I need to go out (after or even during the snow storm) I just do... Plowing through the snow. :p :D Lets see a car do THAT... :p :D

Really now... and what kind of vehicles did/does he service??? True mechanic, or a 'technician'???

My father was a mechanic for more then a few years (before he got disabled), and he always had Ford vehicles. We also never had any issues with them. Perform routine mantenance on your car, and it will take care of you (pretty much the same with your computer).

I've heard it from several people actually.

From some guys I know who are car nuts that work on race cars (smalltime stuff). They swear by Chevys. They concede Ford's towing/hauling power, though.

From a coworkers Dad who has worked on cars all his life. He had to have a special "Ford bag" for all the parts he had to use/make to fix ignition and electrical problems.

They've probably worked some of those problems out by now. Have you had any models before the '99 Ranger? If you're leasing cars and have a 3 year turn around, you don't have the experience of older models and how they age.

Anyway...how about those speakers?;)

I concur with you Row, Japanese and Germen cars are superior!!;)
****ed O ver R ebuilt D odges are number one in vehicle recalls in the USA:p
As a matter of fact, ALL American cars are trash, because the American Auto Makers don't care about quality, but only about cost. Cheap ********

And as for Japanese and German Trucks, They are mainstream in Eurasia;) :p :D

Brining this thread back on topic after mass amounts of spam... ;)

I read a review of a 4.1 Altec Lansing speaker set up at insidemacgames.com

I was able to test the speakers out at my local Best Buy, and man, are they good. The woofer is larger than a G4 tower and the controller is top notch.

A pic for your enjoyment..

Listen up ya twit, you CANNOT call ALL American cars trash (I notice you didn't put trucks in there :p).

Row-dog, I had a 78 Ford Fairmont that I drove into the ground (in 96), then I had an 84 Bronco II that I replaced with the Ranger in 99.

My mother purchased a Contour in 97 (brand new that year) and hasn't had any real issues with it (the clock inside the dash had some problems, big whoop, they fixed it for her for free). My sister has a 99 Windstar that she loves (especially for taking trips or hauling her two kids around with). My brother in law had a 98 Ranger, until he flipped over (totaled the truck, but he walked out with only glass in his hair). The only reason it flipped was he fell asleep at the wheel.

My current truck is great... You simply could NOT give me a foreign truck (I will never go back to a car either). I prefer to give my money to American companies, and support them.

BTW, basing your own opinion about something on OTHER people's information/experiences is moronic. I have had EXCELLENT results with Ford vehicles, as has the rest of my family. Hell, even my uncle (who owns a bus company in Maine) drives Fords. He has enough money to buy ANY vehicle he wants, but he chooses to purchase Fords. My cousins have his old ones when he goes for a new one, so they are kept on the road.

Back to speakers... I still swear by the CSW systems... since they have performed BETTER then expected, and continue to do so day after day after day... Pretty much the same as my truck and Harley... :p :D

So why should anyone here listen to our tech advice?

I don't have the car experience that a mechanic does, so I'll take their word. Just like people without a lot of computer tech experience take ours.;)

In my own personal experience American cars, such as Dodge and Oldsmobile, have been complete crap. The auto industry in general is turning out disposable cars these days, but the American makers seem to really excel at turning out recall prone vehicles.

Hell, Chrysler just recalled hundreds of thousands of PT Cruisers for a fuel pump problem.

Hey Alpha, how do you control the sound, etc., on the speakers that I'm going to get?(the csw 2.1's)

Cool! 200 posts!

Very easily... there is a on/off volume control that you can place either on the side of your monitor, or on the desk, or anywhere you want (except for body openings  ). I have mine on the base of my LCD display. It plugs into the subwoofer unit and controlls the volume very nicely. The sub has the base level control on it, so you don't have to worry about accidentily hitting that one instead.

If someone told me how to repair a vehicle that I owned, and they had worked on that model before, I would listen to the advice/information and see how close it matches up/works. Computers are different then auto's are (no, really, they are different animals ;)).

As for your own experience with Dodge and Olds, at least you have experienced issues with those... I haven't (had problems) with the Fords I have had. From all of my own experience, Ford isn't making disposable trucks... The Contour was also a well made vehicle, as are their mini-vans (i.e. the Windstar).

Oh, and there have never been German (or Japanese) vehicles that were known to have fuel delivery (or containment) problems??? We all know how things were years ago... I am a bit surprised that Chrysler put something like that inside a vehicle... could it have been a bad lot from the fuel pump manufacturer (or do they make their own)??

Maybe the makers are pumping out crappy cars, but I don't have any cars, I own a truck (and a Harley)... :p :D

Well, it is DaimlerChrysler now.

Ford Focus, massive recall.

Ford Explorer/Firestone tire problem, many deaths from blowouts.
