ATT store has 2 Black ones in stock again but they are the old version and one of them is already flaking a tiny bit in the corner. I wanted to take a pic of it but the guy at the store said, "no, that aint cool..."

anyway my Speck is completely trashed but its doing its job. The rubber (gray) piece is all flaking off and rubbing away like a pencil eraser! The back of the case is scratched beyond recognition but I still love it. I do not have any issues with it breaking at the dock. Yes my old 3G case did break and they sent me a brand new one right away and that one didn't break.

I really want a PaleMoon Gray vs another Black one but I heard they will only ship a replacement in Black only. I'll probably buy the PaleMoon Gray when its available. They said October!?

Just got a reply:

They are the new ones with the fix

Well I got mine in the mail today so if it is the revised version it still has the same issue.

Wait, so the "fix" is a variation of the black sharpie trick instead of actually making the flash cutout larger?

Seems to be that way. Can anyone with the original verify if there was a black ring around the camera cutout before?

Let Speck know the new model has the same issue and got this reply:

You can return to AT&T or us for a replacement. AT&T is supposed to only have new ones for sale now.

I just walked into an AT&T store and picked up a speck candy shell black. Looks like the revised one. I took a few pics I'll post in a few.

Yeah, please do. I am waiting on my "revised version" from Speck which they told me will be another week or two. Problems is, I think I may already have that version, in which case, as I shared before, did not work to help the flash problem. IF your case looks like mine, then I am going to contact Speck back again and tell them to ship me a different case I guess.

same here. I went to a different ATT store and they have a few black models and upon closer inspection these are revised. the guy let me try it out and I took pics with the case on - then took it off and took pics - and then put my current one back on and took pics.

I don't know... w/o case the pics look fine. With revised and current case i can't tell. There is a tiny bit of glare. So this would mean that the fix didn't do much. BUT I was sorta in a rush taking these pics in less than ideal situation as I didn't want to spend all this time with a product I was not going to buy.

Someone please post pics with the "fixed" case. If its the same I am going to request a different case (geo) or move on to a different company/case. :(

Is this problem on all of the cases or just the black one. I found this one on amazon...

This says its the white one

Yeah, it was a reported problem with all their candyshell cases. Hence the redesigned case. The question now is, did the redesign work? It is sounding like maybe it did not really help that much. :(

This "revised" case still has the glare problem from my previous speck case. I don't mind Though. I still believe it's the best case as far as protection. I don't use the flash at all anyways.

I agree -- I rarely ever use the flash myself. I wish there was a way to make the flash default to "off" rather than "auto" every time I started the camera app. Because, yes, I am that lazy. :D

Hum...Well thanks for the pictures. This confirms it that I guess I already do have the revised version. Guess I will contact Speck to see what they say.

i use the flash all the time when I use Hipstamatic app. So... aw well. I might try looking at a different brand. but i have to say CandyShell is one of the best out there.

Did they fix the pencil eraser problem? (flaking)

The revised case has an oval cutout for the rear camera. Speck says they have not shipped any yet. What you see from AT&T, Amazon, etc. is the original case with the incorrect cutout (looks like a keyhole). I was told the rubber flaking issue would also be addressed with the revised case. None of my other Speck cases I've owned had problems with flaking rubber so I am hoping this issue will be resolved.

So is there anyone out there who had one of the initial ones of these who can comment about this? Was there this black plasticy lining around the camera and flash cutout or not? I mean, this is what I thought Speck was doing. Widening the cutout itself, but apparently this guy from Speck is telling people ATT has the newer version already??? Then I am like, how does ATT have it when Speck themselves doesn't and won't for another one to two weeks?

My first case had a different cutout for the camera/flash and wasnt aligned correctly at all. This is definitely a revised case.
