How is the bottom of the clear?

I have had the Speck Candyshell black a few days now, and it has a design flaw where the back has a bow in the center, so when you put it on a hard surface it doesn't lay entirely flat; it can spin.

I called Speck, and they told me it's due to the build process, which in my opinion is unacceptable, as my old iPhone 5 candyshell case was flat on the bottom. A case should lay flat.

Honesty I quite enjoy that "flaw" but I know I'm in the minority. It's something mindless to do (spin the phone)

I was supposed to get the case Saturday but delivery has been delayed. I should get it tomorrow or Tuesday!

Speck's reply to me questioning branding placement!

Hey Jessica, the first release of our CandyShell Clear cases have a higher Speck logo placement, but we've been rolling out a new logo placement since launch. If you're unhappy with the case you have, feel free to contact customerservice@speckproducts.com and they'll be happy to swap it out for you.

A year? More like a month like the clear\light colored tech21 cases.

I have had the clear/white Tech21 Evo Mesh case on my 6 for a year and it has not turned yellow yet. It's a great case if you want to see the color of your phone and have really good protection without bulk

Today I received the Speck Candyshell Clear case for the iPhone 6/6s. Since I doubt that my Air Jacket will fit on the 6s, this was going to be my primary case. I was quickly disappointed however, and the case will be going back.

The good: The case is very clear and feels like it would be very protective of the iPhone. All of the usual Candyshell features are here (raised edge to protect the screen while face down, excellent tactile buttons, etc). All of this makes it seem like a good choice for those wanting to both show off and protect their phone.

The bad: There are really only two things wrong with this case (or at least the one that I have). First is that the interior of the case is very sticky. I think it is supposed to be some sort of TPU, but it doesn't feel like TPU. The inside of my case already had plenty of dust when I opened up the package, along with a couple of smudges that I couldn't wipe out. The stickiness takes away any opportunity to wipe the inside of the case clean without adding even more dust and lint. The second thing that bothered me was the placing of the Speck branding on the back. On the website, the branding is in the middle of the case, and below the Apple logo when the phone is inside. The case that I received has the branding much higher up and on top of the Apple logo.

Now I'm not sure if I just got a bad case or not, so I'm curious to see if anyone else gets this case and has similar problems with it. If it seems like this was just part of a bad batch, I may reorder it in the future.

Here are a couple of pictures of the case I got:

If anyone else picks up this case, please let me know how it turns out.

Hey C0SM0, we're happy to chime in!

It looks like you got one of our very first production units. This first release has a higher Speck logo placement, and since launch, we've been rolling out the lower Speck logo placement not to obstruct the Apple logo. If you're unhappy with this case, feel free to contact customerservice@speckproducts.com and they'll be happy to swap it out for you.

In terms of the stickiness - this is another sign you got a case just days out of production. This is totally normal, the inner material will stretch if you pull it, and will rebound back to its original form and eventually strengthen into place. Over time the material will become less sticky. This affect does not mean that the CandyShell Clear is any less protective - your case will always protect your iPhone with military-grade drop tested durability.

We've created an FAQ page to address questions and concerns just like yours and some of the other participants on this thread. Read more about CandyShell Clear right here: http://www.speckproducts.com/faqs/candyshell-clear-faqs.html

You have it on the 6 in these pictures, right? What about the 6s? Have you tried it with that? I have this case coming Monday to review for the 6s Plus, and I'm very curious about the fit. Also, did you try removing the dust particles inside the case with tape or a dust removal sticker? I wonder whether that would help?

Hey, kgenova!

The best way to clean these dust particles would actually be by running the case (without iPhone) under lukewarm water and using your fingers to rub out any blemishes. Air dry, or pat down with a soft tissue, and pop your iPhone right back in!

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to customerservice@speckproducts.com or read our FAQ on these new cases: http://www.speckproducts.com/faqs/candyshell-clear-faqs.html

The logo on half the back DESTROYS any chance I'd EVER consider this case. Have some class Speck, at least put it BELOW the Apple Logo, jeez.

Hey chriscrowlee, you may have seen from other responses here, but this design has been corrected to reflect what you see on our website: the Speck logo just below the Apple logo. If you already own a CandyShell Clear, customerservice@speckproducts.com would be happy to swap it out for you with the correct logo placement.

Thanks for responding to my thread. I have already contacted Speck support, and I should be getting my replacement in the next few days. I will give an update when the new case arrives.

Great to know, thanks! I appreciate all the information, especially the new FAQ on your site. Thanks!

Update

I received my replacement case today, a little earlier than expected. However, I don't think all of the bugs have been worked out quite yet. The logo placement on the new case is in the same area as it was in the first one.

Thanks for the review. Couple questions, how sticky is the TPU? My issue with the candyshells is when I put them in my pocket and try to take it out, its super sticky to my inner pockets (the front edges). Wondering if the clear uses some other material to make it less sticky. How hard is it to take off the case? As someone else said in this thread it feels like my phone is going to break/bend. Lastly, if I use a skin that covers all edges and corners, will that be an issue putting it in and out of the case without peeling?

Hmm... that doesn't look right. Go ahead and reach out to customer service again stating what happened, if you have any trouble reaching them feel free to message me directly at social@speckproducts.com.

Hey Nipommu, the material on the inside of CandyShell Clear actually has a little more tack and stickiness than our regular CandyShell, just so you know. In terms of the skin, do you mean a glass screen protector? The raised lip on our cases hugs the top of the phone's screen, so if your screen protector reaches out to the far edges of the case, it might not be compatible.

I have bought 3 clear cases for my iPhone 6S Plus so far:

Ringke Fusion <-favorite so far, port covers
Spigen Air Cushion <-a little thicker it looks like, ports don't have covers
Spigen Ultra-thin transparent <-just normal TPU, clear

Yes, I have emailed Speck again, and have another case on the way. So far the guy thats been helping me has been really nice and apologetic about the whole thing.

I'll post an update once the new case comes in.
