How is the bottom of the clear?

I have had the Speck Candyshell black a few days now, and it has a design flaw where the back has a bow in the center, so when you put it on a hard surface it doesn't lay entirely flat; it can spin.

I called Speck, and they told me it's due to the build process, which in my opinion is unacceptable, as my old iPhone 5 candyshell case was flat on the bottom. A case should lay flat.

Hey marc55, our CandyShell Clear does not have this same design with the bowed back. I feel your pain - we had a lot of feedback on that case, and we've corrected it for this new design.

I was really interested in getting this one and even ordered it on amazon, but it consistently missed each of its "release dates" and I waited for 3 weeks and finally cancelled my order. I love trying out different cases and reviewing them on Amazon and have tried the Otterbox commuter and the Spigen ultra hybrid crystal clear so far. Commuter obviously has more protection, but the Spigen case is clear and shows the beauty of the phone.

I am looking at the aforementioned Ringke Fusion and also the Poetic Affinity as well as I could get both of those plus the Spigen I already have for as much as the Speck costs.

Maybe I will test this one as well, but it seems like there has been more trouble and hassle getting it right than there has been glowing reviews for it. Waiting for that perfect reason to get one.

Update

Wow, I already received my replacement case...and I finally got a good one. Now that the logo is correct, I really like the case. The only real complaint is still the stickiness. I'll have to see if it does lessen over time.

Kudos to Speck for getting this resolved for me :)

Excellent!!

Cosmo and others, how "soft" is the underside of the lip of this case? Does it feel like it would eventually start to scratch or mar the iPhone with repeated removal and reapplication of the case?

It is a soft rubbery feeling acrylic. Unless there is dirt on it or something, I don't see how it could scratch your phone...

I purchased a clear speck case and mine also has the logo in the incorrect placement. It also had 2 nicks in it already. I contacted speck customer service and was told that all of the 6 plus cases have the incorrect placement so if they sent me a replacement it would be the same as I have. I'm confused by this because I have seen some on YouTube as well as the Internet which has it in the correct place. I was told by Erik that it will be 4-5 weeks before they even start making the correct ones for the 6/6s plus.

Hi Regina, nice to see you on MacRumors! It's a great place to find out about the perfect case for your iPhone! Hopefully contacting social@speckproducts.com should work for you. It's odd that some of Speck's team is saying one thing and some are saying another, but the person at social@speckproducts.com seems very committed to making the Speck CandyShell Clear work for people. Good luck!

The folks at Speck went out of their way to get me a fixed version of this case. Hopefully contacting the social email account, as suggested above, will get you taken care of. 4-5 weeks seems like an unreasonable time frame for them to just start making fixed cases for the 6 plus. Maybe the person you contacted was simply mistaken about this.

I still can't understand how a flaw this obvious wasn't discovered before the case went into full production. It's as if they didn't test the case on an actual phone to make sure it was correct. Speck is really losing money having to send out replacement cases to people.

How long did it take for you to receive the new one?

It took less than a week for my first replacement case to be delivered. When I got it and found out that it was incorrect too, I emailed Speck right away. Much to my surprise, I received my second replacement the next afternoon.

I would love to try this case but my worry is does it scratch at all and does a bunch of dust get trapped in the back ?

It's supposed to have a scratch resistant coating on the outside of the case. I think it's still too early to know how well it will hold up over time. As for dust getting in the back...while the case is on the phone, I can't see how dust could get inside, because it is a really tight fit.

I had the logo issue on the Clear Candyshell case for the iPhone 6s+ but Speck's customer service sent me a new one that no longer has the misplaced speck logo issue.

This is my third or fourth Speck case and the first time I've had to use their customer service. Based on my experience, I will look forward to purchasing more cases from them in the future.

Just got mine from Amazon and....it has the incorrect logo placement. This is after being on their "pre-order" timeline for about a month.

Might end up just returning it to Amazon and ordering from Speck directly.

Uh oh - we're sorry to hear that. If you do order a CandyShell Clear for iPhone 6/6s directly from www.speckproducts.com, you will be receiving the correct logo, so that may be your best bet.

I recently purchased this case from my local Best Buy, and while the logo placement is incorrect, I must say the scratch resistance of this case compared to other hard clear cases, and even the other Candyshells is AMAZING.

With previous Candyshell models, if you so much as looked at it too hard the surface would develop hairline scratches, but my Candyshell clear is totally scratch free after 2 full days of use.

I've contacted Speck's Customer Service email for help on my misplaced logo issue. That should be the right way to get the case swapped out right?

My case on my Rose Gold 6s!

Don't mind that... "Wet" looking spot. It's just the plastic protector I have on the back of my phone. ☺️
