With my iPhone 4, I wouldn't think it is necessary to have a back protector but with this one, there's so many people complaining about the aluminum part scratching (scuff-gate anyone?) that I think it's necessary. Unless you use a case with it, cuz then the back is protected anyway.

Yeah I know, it will be interesting to see what my phone looks like in a few weeks. I'm using a photive bumper, SPG screenprotector, lucky labs wraps, no back protector. The bumper does have some lift though.

since the top glass is already really durable like the 4/4s you could just use the middle piece to protect the aluminum section, that way dust wont build up.

It's not the aluminum back that scratches easily, it's the metal bezel on the phone. I used mine naked for a week waiting for a replacement from Apple and the aluminum back never scratched but the sides of the phone sure did.

Wish they had this earlier though since I already received my crystal clear protectors. Looking forward to you folks reviewing them.

I have this protector from buying the Neo Hybrid EX vivid series. Here are my thoughts on it.

1: The front is top notch with super clear visibility. It's a dry install.

2: The back is a 3 piece design with all pieces being dry install. IMO 3 piece design is necessary due to the new design on the back of the iPhone 5. All 1 piece dry clear back protectors I've tried have bubbled at the seam between the metal and glass components of the phone. I don't think any company can make a 1 piece clear back protector that's dry install without the protector bubbling at the seam.

3: Camera cut out is kind of big, but it makes installation a lot easier.

4: The matte piece that goes on the back aluminum portion of the phone will have a bubble outline around the "apple" logo and the "iPhone 5" logo. This is due to the fact that the logos are raised...trying running your finger of the logos if your phone is naked.

5: if you do install this protector my suggestion for the back installation are as follows. Make sure u wipe the phone so it's oil and dust free!
-A. Start with the matte metal piece first. It is the easiest to line up and install.
-B. Do the camera piece second using the matte piece and the camera cut out as reference
-C. Bottom piece last. Use matte piece as a reference for lining it up.

Sorry for such a long post and terrible pics. Pics are taken from my iPad 3.

Awesome.. thanks for the writeup!! i was torn between this and the phantomskinz that someone else posted a picture of... the phantomskinz is a wet install and it looks amazing... 1 piece, no bubbling... i got applecare+ this time around due to scuffgate so i figured i would try a wet install this time! but if i muck it up, i will go with good old trustworthy SGP! i actually think the bubbling around the apple logo looks kinda cool...

I like the bubble around the apple too, makes it look like it's glowing. People either hate it or love it.

Does dust get in between the glass section and aluminum section?

I installed the SPG Carbon Skin and back protection today. Looks Great, Feels Great and Works Great with my bumper!

I bought a this set this weekend and now im kind of hesitant about the back protection. The 3 pieces seem like it'll be almost impossible to put on with no gaps or having an uneven alignment. The bubble around the apple logo and all the text is pretty upsetting too. Anyone have pictures of this on a white iphone?

Honestly all i want is a simple back protector for when i set my phone down anywhere.

I've had it since last friday and I absolutely LOVE IT!

Here are pics on my white. Just got a black iPhone for fun, if I keep it I will order the same product. No issues with the bubbles.

Thanks, I did nothing special. Since this was a matte film, I just used a credit card wrapped in a microfiber cloth and just pressed down on the film and flatten it out starting from the middle outward on both sides. Looked great right away.

WOW, that looks sick!

is this the pocky that had a IS Vertex? ;)

Pocky,

little off topic that sim card tray looks wrong to me. might be just the picture. Seems too far in, mine seems flush in comparison

Great job on the protector

Wow thanks for the pics that definitely makes me feel more comfortable after buying these. Hopefully i have similar results.
