any thoughts on the possibility this case could scratch the sides of the phone like most cases will when dirt/dust get inside? just had my 5 replaced under warranty with a brand new one and trying to decide how to protect it. wondering if i should order some of those stickers that go on the sides, top and bottom to protect the finish from the type of scratches you might get when the case rubs against the side of the phone. have it in my old otterbox defender at the moment. this spigen case looks amazing.

Considering that this case is called 'Tough Armor', it isn't actually that very tough!

I have had mine on my iPhone for only 2 days and already I have a scratch on the back of it.

My SGP Slim Armor lasted for months before any visible scuffs or scratches were on it........

I don't know what the deal is.

Some people say it scratches easier than slim and others say its much harder.

I wonder if some colors are better.

Really just a scratch and you're already saying its not tough?

That's more like OCD kicking in. You should get a case to protect your case because you don't like cases getting scratched.

The Tough Armor is designed for drop protection for the PHONE - not the case.

Defender is a shocker for letting in the dust, the Tough Armor doesn't.

Re scratches i have a slate one and dropped it on tiles from 6ft, a few pits and a few screatches but hardly notice them. Better than a smashed screen. I got a chip on the top from a spigen leather flip that didn't cover the phone properly.

My only downside to this case is that it's a major fingerprint magnet. It would be nice if the plastic was textured. That's one thing i really like about Otterbox.

Thanks. I guess what's nice about the otter box is that the phone is kind of suspended in that plastic cage, so even with dust and dirt you don't have to worry much about rub marks or friction scratches. Ordered the tough armor as part of the otter box tough armor challenge. Too good of a deal to pass up.

i just got mine in the mail. I like it so far. I went with the black one.

The case has a hard plastic feel ( a little slippery) but the edges are pretty sharp for a case IMO but i will definitely stick with it. As far as fingerprints, i haven't seen many ( unless you have greasy or dirty hands).

The case itself feels like it will scratch or dent easily if dropped ( especially on concrete or an unsmooth surface)

I love the jelly bean buttons that came with it. I have the all black case and black jelly bean button

SPIGEN SGP Tough Armor Protective Case

I also received my Tough Armor in the mail today as part of the challenge. Price point was too much of a deal since I was going to order it a few weeks ago anyway. My thought of the case are that it's quite nice. I have lifeproof nuud and the fre and don't use them unless I know I'm going around water. I also have the defender and commuter otterbox and don't really care the the bulk of either. This case is minimal and still provides protection and compatible to the commuter to me more-so than the defender. One concern to me is that the tpu under the home button already seems a little saggy. Does anyone else already have this issue.

I used to have the sag issue. I simply took the case off and bent it back into position. It now fits perfectly.

thanks for the pics. looks great. can't wait to get mine. does the soft part of the case attract a lot of dust?

Dust isn't an issue with this case at all. It's nothing like the old silicone of the otterbox. It's nice and smooth, sturdy. It just feels good in hand!

that's great to hear. been using an Otterbox Defender for my 5 and I love it because of the new material they use for the case which doesn't attract dust at all and holds its shape. my wife has the Defender for her 4 and it's terrible. It attracted dust, but worse than that it completely stretched out and wore down very quickly. we're actually trying to get a replacement now.

thanks for the quick response.

how does this thing work with docks (and the 30-pin-to-lightning adapter)?

Is it thin enough, or do you find you have to remove the case to get the thing to connect to a dock?

(Planning on getting a 5S... I've got a 4S now, so maybe there are general improvements with the Lightning connector that I'm not aware of.)

Ordered Monday night and still says card processing on Spigen site. Getting a little irritated. Took me a while to figure out how to contact support as well. Hoping they get this thing in the mail soon but looks like I won't be getting it until next week.

I submitted a ticket and they quickly responded that my case shipped. Not sure if it will get here by Saturday or not but it looks like the order went through fine.

couple ?s for owners

Anyone have the white one? Thinking of ordering.

White usually does pretty well with not showing wear/scratches - is that true with the Tough Armor?

Currently have an Incipio Faxion and the rubber side buttons have gotten really saggy and the case has let in a lot of dust/debris which has unfortunately scratched my 5.

Any issues from users with the logo hole on the Tough Armor letting in dust/debris to the back of the phone?

Any issues with the TPU material getting saggy or not fitting properly?

So one of my friends said to check this out. they have 2 nice ones on amazon. The outterbox ones aren't out yet but my friend said this is better. Also gave me the link to get the one that is on

One for 25

one for 20

My only concern is that they look like iphone 5 cases and with how the flash is on the new iPhone. Worried it'd be a problem

Well, quite honestly, this case in general is amazing.
It protects your phone so well without much bulk and it looks sleek. You get good protection + a minimalist and sleek design which pretty much gives you all you need in a case these days. The back isn't even slippery at all.

Headphone jack is fine as long as you dont use the really large ones. I would have much preferred if the back didn't have the hole showing the apple logo, I prefer it looking like a "unibody" but it's not really an issue.

With regards to the finger print and scratching of the back, they are true but they are really minor issues. Mostly likely only people with OCD will ever go crazy about them or at least people who treat their phones like babies (which is understandable considering the worth of iphones). The point of a case is protection and the added aesthetics is a plus. What more can you ask for?
