Ok, one last question, can I update to standard 3.1.3 then redsn0w? Officially unlocked so baseband not a issue...
Why do it? Just don't take a risk.

i would say release it!! im sure they will find another exploit if apple patches this one...gotta get the ipads JB!!
I think it is just a convenience and it would be much better to wait. Finding an exploit isn't so easy.
New Dev team post, http://blog.iphone-dev.org/. Awww no unlock.
"comex
ffs, I only said Friday in a reply to someone. Barring surprises in the iPad 3G, the delay is at most a few days. That I can commit to."

Ok, stupid question (someone has to be the idiot):
I have a 3GS 16GB with new bootrom and it came with 3.1.3.
I have backed up my SHSH.
Will this Spirit release enable me to jailbreak my iPhone? I don't care about unlocking, I just want to jailbreak.
I know there hasn't been a date specified as yet, but is there a likelihood it will be over the course of this weekend? Just desperate to have my phone jailbroken again after my 3.1.2 jailbreak screwed up. Only this time I have a useful shsh, I bought my phone too late for the 3.1.2 shsh deadline
I'd sat a doubtful you will see a JB this weekend. Sorry I think when all is said and done it will be when 4.0 is officially released, I could be wrong but that's logical. most of us don't how many hours it took to find the spirit exploit along with the others.

don't get me wrong, what these guys do I could not,I do have the utmost respect. that being said. I am a chronic news report reader to a fault. Could someone please correct me if I am wrong or if there is something I don't understand. A few months ago one of the hackers at a pawn to own comp. Remarked he had found in the upwards of 30+ exploits or weaknesses in the safari O.S. Alone( not all may be poss. Jailbreak uses). doesn't this mean others could know about all types of exploits that still pertain to all recent and potentially new products? I am not certain but I am pretty sure later that same " hacker" , and that word I use loosely(I believe he was an retired government computer specialist that's job was to look for weaknesses in government computers) divulged a lot of these to Apple at their request. this being said... Would It not be smart to start to use each jailbreak when possible? Or at least when there are multiple options, use one.I mean it will be 4 months since 3.1.3(if released in June) and apple not signing old F.W. the excuse that only stupid people that updated are affected no longer holds water then.(Geohot)& If this spirit J.b. Is user land than it presents a security risk in apples eyes to unjailbroken phones as well. And to assume that Apple does not know and are not in the process of fixing this may Render this exploit useless if left unused before 4.0. What is there to loose, if apple corrects it 1 day after it would of happened that way anyway. After the initial release of the iPad 3G the next shipment date is may 7. And just like the wifi models will trickle out of Cupertino slowly afterwards. As a user land J.B. Apple may fix this quickly but don't allow them to just incorporate it int this next big O.S. Overhaul. Make them work for the hard earned cash they ask for there products. Keep Apple chasing these J.B.s. Once you are playing catchup it's hard to gain ground. An Apple product with no jailbreak to someone that needs it may be almost half the life cycle to a avid updater of tech. Gear.( Apple updates iPhone models each year) SHSH file saving are now more common place, and now If you don't have it saved it is your fault. No matter what, like I said, I have much respect for these guys and there abilities. And I do say thanks.....I have supported them in the past and will do so for a very long time. Whenever they decide is right to release.
