I wanted to know is the Split View and Side-By-Side Multi-tasking in iOS 9 does that only works with an APP and Safari meaning can the split view and side by side works only with safari and any app can it not work between two apps side by side like for e.g. Photos + Video APP side by side does it have to be only ANY APP+Safari ? If you guys know what I mean.

It works with any two apps that support split screen multi tasking

yes but one of them has to be compulsory Safari is what I am saying. It can only be Safari and any other APP. It cannot be just any two APP's

Incorrect. Any two apps that support Split View will work. What part of this are you not getting?

when I tried it it would open only safari in one window (one side) and than other APP in other window.

No it doesn't have to be Safari compulsory. Below find a few options which are e.g. possible with slide over/split view:
Documents 5 app + Launcher
Microsoft Word + YouPlayer
(as Slide over/split view or Pip)
The Guardian + Twitter
WebProtectMe Safe Browser with Parental Control + Safari

But it's important that both apps have to support the iOS9 Split view/Slide over feature (and/or Picture in Picture aka PiP). See a nice list of 3rd party apps that support these features.

See also this explanation from my end:

Can someone post a screenshot on how to select two apps for split view or side by side. Can anyone explain it with illustration.

What needs explaining? You open a supported app, then you slide from the right to select another supported app.

Exactly that is my point when I select an APP say for e.g. Photos and from the right when I slide to select another APP it just gives me Safari (No other option available) as other APP.

Swipe down from top on the app on the right, I'm your case safari, and you can switch it to another app.

Have you tried turning off your device? Otherwise talk with Apple support or visit a store.
You should at least see a few other Apple apps that support this feature (e.g. FaceTime).
Besides 3rd party apps (if you have any) that support this feature.
Can you make a screenshot of your situation. Are you running iOS9 or iOS 9.01 and on which iPad?

I had your problem at first.. When I pulled over from the right I had the cloud open and couldn't figure out how to close it to go back to the view showing all apps. There is a 1/2 inch bar at the very top. Swipe down holding that little bar and you can then choose another app.
I could be off base here, but maybe that's why you think you are stuck in safari.

Which is also explained in above photo and video so that can't be the issue with the TS.

That is an interesting explanantion, will try and report here. Thanks for the explanation. Maybe this is what I was looking out for.

See the grey horizontal bar at the top of the right side window?

Swipe down on that...

In the Air you only get the side bar in Safari and not split Apps.

I think this is what it is in reference to.

Ah, yes. We are thinking he is asking about an Air 2.
Split View can't be done on an iPad Air 1. Split View only works on the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 4 - however the side bar can be used and a different app can be viewed there as we described above, by swiping the small bar on top downward and choosing from the resulting display of apps.

So you can't open 2 Safaris on iPad Air 2?

I get the sliding multi window and have safari open but I can't choose safari again as a second window for split screen?

Am I missing something?

Nope. Can't do that oddly enough.

It would be super useful to have slit screen between two tabs on safari.

Out of interest, what happens with sound?

Say you are playing a movie on one side and Angry birds on the other side.
Or YouTube on one side and playing music on the other side.

Do both apps sound come thru at the same time, or, does the side you have last touched the screen on, play the sound and the other side go silent, till you tap that other side, then THAT sides sound goes to the speaker and the 1st side goes silent?
