May I add my general mod appreciation, thanks for not banning me, thanks for helping me with various issues over the years (more so recently, thanks Dr Q :) ) and thanks for banning *********, that guy was an A class jerk.

Keep up the good work :D

~quietly wonders how close she's ever come to being considered for a 24 hour ban.....~

Since this is my thread, I feel the need to address this.

First of all, iGary has a lot of respect for his fellow MacRumors members - I've seen this demonstrated time and time again over the past several years. You've only been around since March, so I understand if you haven't been around long enough to appreciate this yet.

You need to lighten up and not take things so seriously - I mean, it's an Internet forum after all! If you can't handle things here you definitely won't be able to handle things in the real world. At some point you'll come to the realization that you can't be everyone's friend and not everyone will like you in life. My advice is don't get so emotional and take things so personally - just have some fun here and leave it at that.

Lastly, this is an appreciation thread for the Mods, for all of us to say thanks to them. I'd appreciate it if you did not crap on my thread any further with this off-topic whining and nonsense.
I get the point, ~Shard~. No neead for long, annoying whiney posts like yours. We will keep them seperate/

I just wanted to make a point that I may be a moderator some day, and I didnt like the comment iGary made. simple as that. :)

So, shard, I do apologize for this.

*slaps self*

Sorry, we'll stop now. But you gotta admit, it's some funny stuff Chundles' comin' up with:D

(Give me an M! Give me an O! Give me a D!)

Oh I have no issues whatsoever with the Chundles discussion - I always love a good laugh as well! :D I was referring specifically to imacintel's earlier comments where he was hijacking the thread and getting all pouty and personal re: iGary's comments - that's why I quoted him directly.

Pot, meet kettle...

Glad you got the message. Obviously you misunderstand or misinterpret people's comments here from time to time, hence why I tried to be detailed enough so you wouldn't misunderstand me (hence the length of the post). :)

Apology accepted. As I said earlier, just don't take things so seriously in the future. ;)

Now let's just get back to thanking the Mods and other fun off-topic chat with Chundles and leave this, shall we?

Okay. You and iGary are very good MacRumors members. Still don't know about eva01 though...
Enjoy your time at MR, I just sometimes don't realize that.

And our current mods are excellent. They keep MacRumors very clean.

*hugs powerbook like it is ~Shard~*

Oh and by the way...really good respect for your fellow Canadian. ;)

I just remember sendung you a PM and asking if a mod seat was open but there wasn't so JSW said I would be highly considered. :)

jsw has a fantastic signature. :p

Oh, and yes, I loves me some mods. <rubs thighs in appreciation>

Your posts in this thread are testimony that you don't have what it takes to be a moderator IMO. Lighten up Francis.

I'll take the plunge with Gary off that bridge if you become a moderator.

My view on moderator powers:

There are three types of people, those who want power but wouldn't handle it well, those who don't want power due to the responsibility because they are mature enough to recognise that, and those who are mature enough to accept that power and use it wisely for the most part, the latter is very very rare, and from my interactions with Dr Q and a few other mods they firmly fall into the last category.

Personally I'm in a second group, if being a mod was offered (which I doubt, I'm far too unstable) I'd decline. I've moderated forums a fraction the size of this before and I simply don't have the time nevermind the fact that I'd probably end up abusing it when I'm drunk/in a fowl mood.

It's not just the ability to get back at any poster that annoys you it's a huge responsibility which entails allot of work, the whole point of this thread is to recognise that work and show our appreciation, not create more work for them by bickering and trying to make out like you could be a mod like it's just a status symbol badge one wears.

Oh and I'll join igary and rdowns with the bridge jumping.

Plus the fact that Im sure Arn and the others will want someone who has been here for a while to be a Mod and not someone that hasn't proven to be worthy of holding such power.

Now I haven't seen the application but I would assume that the longer you have been an active member here the better the chances for consideration are. As well as other factors that I don't think anyone but they now of.

I'm not so sure that's so important, sure wait until they've got to grips with the forum, but if someone sticks around for a while and demonstrates the maturity and is the best candidate if there is a need for another mod I see no reason why they need to of been around for more than a year or have over 2000 posts, it's not like you automatically get offered a moderator position if you stay around for 4 years and have 10,000 posts, and it's no insult to any poster that has done.

I would guess that the mods just discuss candidates in the mod forum and then PM said members simple as, a whole batch became mods a while back and unless one leaves I see no reason to have any more, unless the workload is getting extreme or something.

I think they look at the overall body of work but I would bet that they would rather someone who has been here 2 years as opposed to 6 months.

Forget it. On with mod appreciation.:)

Why exatly are you calling me Francis? Or do you call evverybody francis.

Anyways, I don't appreciate those comments. I wish I was a mod so I could delete them and move on with mod appreciation. :)

You are entitled to expressing your feelings just as we all are, however just because you don't appreciate a member's comments does not mean those members are not entitled to make them, nor are you subsequently entitled to delete those comments as a Mod for your own personal reasons. That would be abuse of your Mod privileges and would demonstrate behavior of someone who shouldn't be a Mod in the first place. Deleting comments just because you don't like them is wrong. It's a matter of objectivity versus subjectivity.

And thanks for ignoring my request to quit discussing this specific matter in my thread. Can't you just take the high road and leave other people's comments alone, or do you always need to reply and get in the last word? No wait, don't answer that...

Moving on (I hope)...

Okay. I won't say anything else, and I will leave this thread(but never MR ;) )
