Gotcha.

Well the title of this article is "Spotify has twice as many paid subscribers as Apple Music"

So apparently somebody feels that the number of subscribers means something ;)

im not going around in a circle again, cause either you cannot comprehend or choose not to, I dunno, but I'm out.

Apologies to everyone else on this forum, for all these useless posts . Mod feel free to delete them.

Download the songs to your phone while you are on wifi? No data used

if I knew what I would want to listen to before leaving the house I wouldn't get a steaming service ;) it's all about discovering music and new stuff u didn't know even existed

But that's how TV ads work as well. You don't get any ads if you get Spotify Premium, though.

It's one thing if ads are loud on your TV halfway across the room, quite another when they're being pumped into your ears with headphones/earbuds at what may be an already higher than normal volume.

That's a somewhat of a maths/logic fail.

When Spotify started about how many active users did they have in thier ecosystem?

When Apple Music started out how many active users in thier ecosystem'??

One could argue that 15 million active subscribers for apple, given thier huge user base is a massive fail.

Spotify had to work thier way to 30m subscribers from nothing.

Apple has 1 BILLION active devices...they gave all its users free access to Apple Music for 3 months, and even after all that, just 15 million subscribed.... Maybe time to reflect that something is wrong with the service.

Apple Music should have blown away Spotify in the first year had they got it right.

That's a lot of assumptions based on very little real business. Look at cable TV: it's like saying hey there are a billion people watching TV, so when I launch my new TV network I should get most of them. Nope. There are many more factors. So having 1 billion devices does not instantly mean your new services is going to capture them.

I know this, not only from learning about business but also having seen it at work. I work for a global company that has billions of users, but only 50 mil "subscribers". We launched a new part of our business and we only expect 1% of subs to use it. And guess what, we consider that a huge win. So you need to know the business specifics - the plan, the metrics, the goals, and a hell of a lot more.
