It doesn't matter if it seems arbitrary. It is the law. It has been put to vote and passed overwhelmingly.
alright well then you shouldn't be allowed to complain if what Apple is doing is abiding by USA law. but you were complaining in a previous post that NFC should be open to all.

your point seems contradictory depending on the situation.

Artists make more money from Spotify, by a considerable amount. I don't like a lot of things about Spotify and what it has done to the music industry, but at least be honest with yourself.
"pays more royalties on average" is generally measured on amount per play.

all you're really showing is Spotify has more users which equate to more plays.

understand the situation more before you accuse someone of being dishonest.

If Apple doesn't want to be charged those costs, they should allow to sideload Apps no?
no. it should be up to Apple on how they run the business. and it should be up to developers on whether or not they should write apps for Apple's platforms. and it should be up to users on whether to buy iPhones and iOS apps. as long as there is an alternative for people to choose, gov should not intervene. Android offers tons of alternatives. free market is how it should be.

Observe reality instead of theory. In real, actual life, artists are making much, much more money on Spotify. This is really happening in real, honest-to-god, actual life, right now.

But unfortunately Apple Music is an unusable service for people who listen to music other than rap or hip hop. At least if those users listen primarily to European old music like myself.
I would gladly use Apple Music otherwise. I tried many times. But it’s unbearable.
I don’t listen to either, and Apple Music works great for me. Perhaps I just understand how to use an app.

I don't listen to rap/hip hop and I use it.

I personally attempted to use it several times over the course of several months, but it consistently presented me with Rap and Hip Hop music. Have you experimented with it using international music??

Take a glance at a random screenshot from my Apple Music app at this moment. These recommendations bear no resemblance whatsoever to my musical preferences. I could share other random screenshots but I don't wish to waste my time listening to old French music (which Siri might not even comprehend when I make requests) only to discover that they feature Taylor Swift

Says the company who - out of spite - still uses AirPlay 1 in their app to make Apple’s software seem inferior. Deliberately making user experience worse to spite another company is just as shameful as what Apple does. Get off your high horse, Ek.

you're in the wrong section. click "listen now" section. that's personalized for you. you're in the "browse" section which isn't personalized.

I apologize that I don't know how to navigate this app. However, I've never faced any issues with Spotify.

May I ask, how many languages do you enjoy listening to music in? It impresses me how adept you are at using apps because this is where the problem originates in my case! I assume you have read my posts where I focus on multilingual people!

As I mentioned, it's just a random screenshot. For instance, when I create a station based on an artist, the recommendations that follow shortly are quite poor. Moreover, I want to emphasize that my interest primarily lies in old European music. If you want try to play for example Aznavour or Gainsbourg and let me know 5-10 songs later on what you will be recommended.

A lot of us used Spotify on PC, before having iPhones. In those days nobody was really buying an iPhone and I’m not sure if there was an app at all. It didn’t need the iPhone to be popular. Nor did it need Android for that matter.

Apple intentionally nerfs web apps so that would not really be an option.
“A lot of us”

fantastic news. now starting jailing apple executives.

apple can whine all it wants, but its days of stealing from developers are coming to a close.
Jail them for what? With how often you say this, it must be one heck of a fantasy world you’re living in.

I'm simply explaining the random screenshot

The random screenshot is just showing the browse page. There is zero recommendations in the browse page

no recommendation engine is perfect. I'm not liking Spotify's/Apple Music's weekly discovery playlists. Pandora isn't good. last.fm seems to occasionally pop up good songs but still isn't good.

Spotify has an awful interface and the audio quality is lousy - I've been using Spotify on and off for years from when you had to receive an invite to be able to use it, but would never pay money for it. If the EU ruling about forcing Apple to allow sideloading of Apps is coming then perhaps it's time that Apple kicked Spotify out of the App Store. Anyone who wants to carry on using this can then take the risk that their sideloaded Spotify will allow a backdoor onto their iPhone for nefarious practice and anyone who has their iPhones compromised can sue the EU for allowing it all to happen as it would clearly not be any fault of Apple.

Agreed that's a possibility. And Windows would have likely lost a large marketshare to Linux and Mac.
And?
Apple would likely be a smaller company had they not released iTunes for Windows. Remember, they were essentially dead when Steve Jobs returned. The Mac had less than 2% market share in the US, about the amount of market share that Linux has today, prior to users trying the platform due to the halo affect inspired by the iPod/iTunes coming to Windows. The iPod and iTunes was the bridge that allowed Apple to become the company that they are today, remember, they had almost died and were still struggling. iTunes moving to Windows and then the halo effect was what caused Mac sales to start growing. Hell, that is why I switched to Macs back in 2004. It is easy to argue that without Windows iPod would not have succeeded as it did and without iPod it is doubtful that Apple would have had the clout to negotiate the early deal with ATT for iPhone. And without iPhone Apple would have been a much smaller company. And, Microsoft obviously missed a hell of an opportunity to squeeze them for money. Microsoft could have justified it as making their money back that they invested into Apple to help Apple survive after Jobs returned.

To clarify without any intent of rudeness, I've mentioned several times that my interest lies specifically in international music ( and American old classic rock ) Do you have any experience with music in languages other than English? Spotify has very good recommendations but I personally do not like their interface. I still use it though.
