Why do people use Spotify? I’ve never understood the appeal over Apple Music or other alternatives.

This is an edge case but I use Spotify because of it’s API. I’ve been scrobbling to last.fm for almost 20 years, and Spotify does this perfectly. Neither Apple music or YouTube support this natively, the “solutions” usually involve listening to music in a browser or attempting to sync play counts on a schedule.

I would 100% switch to Apple Music if it could sync with last.fm, and there are hundreds - perhaps thousands - of people in the same boat. Not enough for Apple to care about.

YouTube needs to take lessons, remove the Music piece and charge $2 less for "Premium"...not like they won't just jack up the prices 6 months later.
Youtube Music is Youtube Premium. All functionality required for YT music is enabled by YT premium. There’s no way around it without limiting premium in some significant way.

More of this, please. Give me a cheaper YouTube premium subscription without Music and a cheaper Prime membership with two-day shipping only.
OMG this so hard! This forever!

And to this I’ll add Apple One Family really needs to have 2TB if it’s meant for families. 200GB is nothing in 2024, much less enough for up to 6 people to share. And Premiere should be 4TB standard.

Spotify has far the largest subscription base, so they should afford to pay and lead the industry in paying artists!

The largest non-paying subscriber base also. Apple offers nothing free, so they could still pay more just as Spotify could. Besides, like all other investors, I own Spotify shares for the exact same reason I own Apple shares. They both squeeze their suppliers to pay as little as they can and charge their customers as much as they can for as much profit as they get.

Genuine question - what makes you hold shares in a company that hasn’t posted a profit ever?
