Good for Spotify. Now get rid of that free tier that is weighing you down so you can start to show a profit.

My main issue is the same as the Maps scenario. Is Apple Music Perfect? No. Is Apple Maps perfect? No. But do spotify and Google Maps work perfectly in the eco system as far as notifications and Siri and such? No. So I end up using the baked in solutions. I use directions a lot off of calendar appointments and its a PITA to copy the address over.

Apple Music works. And its built in.

I have over 400 of my favorite CDs digitized. I will never let anyone put a straw in my wallet so I can be tortured with ads pushing todays modern muzak (hip hop, rap, etc.). Besides Comcast CH 643 Soundscapes is a good way to be exposed to new artists and it is no additional charge once you have Comcast. If I hear something on Comcast music channel, I go to iTunes and buy the album (hardly ever just buy one song).

You have a problem with hip hop?

With the new improved Apple Music UI, can't think of one advantage of using Spotify

Spotify works quite well on a 2016 flagship phone with a 3.5mm audio pin.

Given apple's blatant profit-over-usefullness move on the iPhone 7, "Apple" and "Music" don't belong in the same sentence.

How many Spotify 'paid' subscriptions are of the 3 months for $.99 variety? The only way to truly measure Apples v. Apples (pardon the pun) is to have a metric of total subscription revenue. I'd be willing to bet that Apple's growth rate on that metric exceeds Spotify.

You so right
I used Spotify paid version for almost year and now moved to Apple Music student 4.99
I like the way it comes on my Apple TV 4 and Siri works flawlessly....

And I'll stick with Spotify. It's their bread and butter. Plus I can use it on more devices in more places and I ever would with Apple Music.

Whether I'm using my Roku or PS4, Spotify has me covered. I no longer will choose services if they aren't platform independent.

Thanks to iOS 10, I don't have the Music app on my phone any longer. I'm all in on Spotify. All my mp3/aac files are "archived" on OneDrive, Google Music, and a hard drive.

Family plan available in Canada for Apple Music; not a peep from Spotify despite promoting it for years.

Funny you think that way. In my opinion it wasn't the best UI before iOS 10 and now got worse to a point were it actually might make me switch back to Spotify.

In my eyes Apple's attempt to "streamline" the app had the opposite effect: while I like the bigger buttons in the control center, the bigger cover art on the other hand means less portrayable content and therefore endless scrolling. But the worst thing about the new UI is that nearly all tasks now require at least one extra tap (for example: you can't tap those big cover arts to start playback anymore - ironic). And I have jet to figure out where the waiting list is hidden: You can still add songs to it from the now playing sub menu but the symbol for the list itself seems gone?

So I think there are still advantages on Spotify's side, that might be relevant for some users when choosing between the two services (for me this would be "Connect" - I really don't understand why Apple did not implement an equivalent feature for over a year now).

It is. Especially when Apple Music seems to take steps backwards.

They removed the Love button from the lock screen. This is bizarre. Now I have to go through six steps when I unlock my phone just to "love" a song.

How much newer is Apple Music....? I'm willing to bet Spotify didn't have 17 million paying subscribers after 18 months.

Spotify did not even hit US markets until late 2011 or 2012, and spotify did not just have the easy privlidge of just slapping together some sloppy service with some pre existing engineers in a tech company and market it as the primary music player for Iphone like apple did. plus apple takes 30% of spotify's revenue on top of that, so spotify is the true champion here.

and yes, im the guy against apples ripping off developers and services for 30% of their revenue, when in REALITY, its the apps that truly sell the iphone and ipad. If apple did not have so many non apple apple developers creating amazing apps, apple would not perform as well as it does and people would be more aware of apples lagging in hardware and insanely unnecessary profit margins. But people purchase the iphone, despite its price point, because they perceive apps and downloadable services to be incredibly valuable tools in their lives.

with apple sitting on 200+ billion dollars in cash, it should be covering its own maintenance costs to run the app store, as it is a feature that they did not invent, and a feature that is a primary selling point of apple devices. Once apple does that, then you can truly compare its in house services to other competing services like Spotify.

I can. it is filled to the brim with spam music of wannabe artists that name themselves, their songs and their albums exactly as the real artists. Spotify is great if you like covers, not so much if you want to find the actual original artist quickly.

so you like apple music for their smaller selection? cool

you "love" songs often enough for that to be a huge issue for you? lol
