Apple Music is so much better at discovery and curated playlists. They brought a lot of this in with the beats acquisition, and they've fine-tuned it to make the technology even better.

Apple Music also has better sound quality and encoding despite the "extreme" bit rate on Spotify.

Apple Music has incredible live shows on Beats 1 with amazing DJ's who rock out every day with an unprecedented amount of passion and love for the music. Every track they play means something. It's really quite remarkable.

Spotify is a giant loss making mess of a service. I'm disappointed if any Apple fan is using them. Get Apple Music. It's the best.

How much newer is Apple Music....? I'm willing to bet Spotify didn't have 17 million paying subscribers after 18 months.
Respectfully, that's an unfair comparison. Apple Music had a TREMENDOUS launch day advantage because it's Apple. An established brand and a free trial for every iPhone user ever (which is a lot of people).

Spotify on the other hand has had to grind, grind, grind over the years to make it work. And now they're at 40 million users. That's remarkable. In my opinion, they were the first to get streaming music "right."

you "love" songs often enough for that to be a huge issue for you? lol

It should be an issue in the first place. It's a lock screen that shows me what's playing and you'd figure with a device like the iPhone, interacting with the screen is a given.

Music is a step backwards. Don't get me started on the redesigned UI. It's horrid.

sorry you feel that way. i love it!:)

With the new improved Apple Music UI, can't think of one advantage of using Spotify

Apple Services always go stale while Spotify is constantly evolving with a steady stream of updates and tweaks. Apple launches something and if you're lucky, you get a slight improvement after a year. Just look at SIRI,iCloud,Photos,Any Apple standard installed app,Ping,Itunes,Messenger,...

Ya. You need to repeat a song? Oh, well you can no longer just click the symbol, you have to swipe down while listening to the song.

Good grief. More swipes and touches just for simple functionality.

i feel so fortunate to not have any issues with all these services.

Switch to Roger's is their solution?

That's like trying to cure Herpes with Aids.

hahahahaha. I don't think anyone could have said it better.

On reddit you'd get a life time supply of gold with that statement lol

you scroll down maybe an inch and a half to tap a button...doesn't seem like much of a burden

With all this sarcasm I can't figure out what to do with myself.
I don't know if the original post was sarcastic or not but I definitely agree with it. I do not like Spotify. I have preferred AM from its inception and it has only improved ten fold with iOS 10. Once again, Apple doesn't disappoint.

The new UI blows.

I couldn't agree more. I switched from Spotify to Beats based on mostly the Beats UI alone, with the strength of some of the features (the sentence was great. curated playlists awesome). When Beats was eaten by Apple Music, I stayed on, and still enjoyed the playlists (however, they were WAY harder to navigate to), and have really come to like the "for you" suggestions while working.

I just popped it open this morning when I got in the office, and wow. It's HORRIBLE. so incredibly bad, all the design elements are way too big, giant typefaces, FAR too much real estate taken by connect (who cares?) I think it's enough to send me back to spotify.

let me know when apple music can do this

You're also not supporting a greedy company like Apple that makes disposable products. That's also a bonus.

Canada is one of the WORST countries in the world with telecommunications. Limited bandwidth, slow speeds and amongst the highest rates in the world for some of the worst service out there.

I pay for both and each has advantages. For me, sound quality is the most important consideration though. And Apple Music is noticably worse when listening with good equipment. If they were the same, I would probably cancel Spotify. Instead, I end up doing something like this:

Start "A List Jazz" playlist on Apple Music (excellent curation). When something catches my attention, I switch over to Spotify to listen to song and maybe the album. Even at matched volume, the soundstage and clarity are usually lacking on Apple Music when compared to Spotify 320.

Yes, I did try Tidal for a while too, but found that the CD quality didn't sound materially better than Spotify. Not worth the high price, not to mention the weaker UI and library.

I was really hoping that Apple would announce lossless Apple Music as part of the lightning headphone announcements this month. Some day...

all i do is pick up my phone and press the back button on the unlock screen or triple click on the headphone button. couldn't be any easier.

The fact that I can't seamlessly start a song on my Mac in iTunes, and continue where I left off on my phone/iPad/whatever means I like Apple Music a lot less. It's such an Apple-like feature that I'm surprised Spotify was the first to implement this with their desktop and mobile apps.

from the now playing screen you just scroll down
Thanks, I probably would have figured that out only unintentionally some day when failing the swipe to open the control center. Why didn't they put any indicator for the hidden content there?!
