Hard to feel pity for Spotify, they play the perennial victim card a little too often.

I do understand their POV -- Apple is basically making the total package so attractive that people may be tempted to move away from Spotify to Apple Music as part of a bundle that saves them money and gives them other content they like. Apple doesn't necessarily have to make money on the services (although I'm sure they'll make bank), whereas Spotify needs to be profitable because that's their whole business.

Personally, not a Spotify customer, looking forward to bundling and saving with Apple One, but I get it. Even if the whole "default apps" bit in iOS 14 allowed you to swap out the Music services fully (although that's not nearly as impactful as being able to swap the browser/mail out), I think they would still complain.

It’s not consumer friendly. Apple Music used to cost me $10 a month which was already higher than I wanted to pay. Now Apple wants me to pay $15 a month just for Apple Music because I wouldn’t be using the other services.

Apple One may make sense for some but for me it’s trash.
This plus the lack of X-Cloud support.... ANDROID is looking better and better each day.

I never everrrrrrr thought about leaving Apple before and here we are.:(

Nobody said you can't still pay $10 per month for Apple Music and keep everything else the same.

They were sued for bundling Internet Explorer on Windows, the were sued because it was baked into the OS, you couldn't use the OS without it. You had zero choice. Apple is just offering a music service to the customer at a discounted price(if you look at the bundle in that way). You can choose not to use it or get the bundle at all. you can choose to use Spotify, and it works as if integrated into the OS. Media controls, lock screen display, etc.

Internet Explorer came bundled on Windows, but you could use other browsers, which I often did.

Spotify just mad they wanted this

Apple never said we could keep the same single service. That hasn’t been reported anyway. And as I said, $10 was too high already.

iHeartRadio is free.

For once, I'm with Apple on this. They're bundling services they own and support into one subscription. That's they're choice.

Spotify are upset because the bundle deal from Apple makes it even more attractive and will take business away from them.

Also, Spotify are saying this will harm developers? When have Spotify ever cared about the artists making all the music?

The average stream pays right-holders $0.00318. That's so low, you can almost say they're getting paid nothing.

While it's not been clearly said by Tim Cook on a stage, they still show the individual service pricing on Apple.com, with a banner below to be able to bundle this fall to reduce the price further. IE, go look at the Apple Music page on Apple.com. All 3 existing levels, with the banner below to bundle with other services.

They never had to. This is announcing a new BUNDLE service. All services will still be available separately.

Then listen to iHeartRadio. Nobody's forcing you to get Apple Music.

Right, it’s anti-competitive, because Apple is bundling a Music subscription, which we all know is necessary for basic survival, with a number of other products, and no longer offers any of those products separately, so—

Wait, I’m hearing now that all the subscriptions are still available separately, and Apple is merely offering a discount on a bundle for those who want the all of the bundled items.

It seems like Spotify’s argument boils down to “this might compete against us, and is therefore clearly illegal.” Spotify needs to learn how capitalism works.

When Spotify designs all of their apps, including music streaming, video streaming, news, and more, than they complain about anti-consumer behavior and monopolies.

Also, Apple allows Apple bundles for third party apps. If Spotify would like to create their own competing apps and bundle them together at the same price as Apple One, then by all means no one is stopping them.

Spotify is bundled with absolutely everything these days, with non-stop promos on half the devices you buy or subscribe to, from smart TV's to cellphones.

I haven't paid more than eqv $3 a month the past four+ years for premium due to various bundling of services.

This year they introduced Spotify duo reducing the price by half again so myself and other half only need one subscription.

At those kind of prices it feels as though its Spotify that should probably be investigated for predatory pricing.

It's at the stage that I'm starting to feel very guilty for the artists.

*I've been waiting for Tidal, but its not available here yet

I disagree with Spotify !

They simply need to figure-out other things that Users may be interested in, they have NOT yet had their Day in the Sun !

Most people aren't going to get these Apple bundles except hardcore Apple people who were already using AppleMusic anyway.

I pay for Spotify and I get AppleMusic free through Verizon and I still prefer Spotify. I'm not giving up Spotify for AppleMusic. AppleMusic is trash compared to Spotify lol

Hey Spotify, I'm your premium user, here is an idea. How about improving your ****** product to actually attract customers even at a higher price? Desktop, Web, and Mobile app sux. They are slow, bloated, buggy, and sometimes unusable. Fix that and you have nothing to fear about.
