Nothing about this harms the developer community.

If you develop games on Apple arcade its a nice income boost. If you use a mac as a developer you get a more useful/affordable bundle so you can store your stuff on icloud while listening to apple music.

The only people this hurts is Spotify, who at this point deserve it for being a stagnated mess who seemingly dont actuallty have any developers putting out new features.

Sniff, sniff...poor Spotify. Instead of becoming jealous of Apple's future success, they should redirect that energy to making themselves even better.

Not trying to take a stance on that accusation, but to all those people saying Spotify doesn’t try hard enough: it offers by far the best ux in its field

And it sucks if you're a heavy user. The desktop app is a horrible mess when you've got a lot of playlists. Their user experience is awful and they've shown no willingness or ability to improve it, with their apps only getting very minor updates over the last couple of years.

(Tldr) how much would it be if spotify or epic etc. would participate in the actual R&D, Production and Marketing costs of the platform and brand they use to make their money?

Such cost can easily make up 30% of revenue... apple has to pay those and also has the same cost of developing an app and pay the music licenses. I don't see anything unfair here.

I swear to God, I am tempted to switch from Spotify to Apple Music just because of this pathetic whining.

I did that with the Epic whining. Yeah developers were happy, but I spent over $150 re-buying Control, Satisfactory and Borderlands 3 again on Steam so I never had to install Epic Games Store again due to all of this feud going on.

This is embarrassingly bad for Spotify to even speak out about this. Just by this crap they put out today, which is laughable, just proves that people want to hate on Apple simply because it's Apple. Funny how Spotify isn't crying foul to Amazon who is getting an enormous amount of business due to Covid-19 and more people are signing up for the Amazon Prime subscription which includes music, movies, book downloads and 1-2 day free shipping. Spotify.....SHUT UP!

This is so stupid of Spotify to even call Apple anti-competitive. How so? The only way this could be anti-competitive is if Apple suddenly put out a software update on their Macs and mobile devices that prevented any other subscription service's from being installed or used on Apple products. Be quiet Spotify! Go be creative instead of crying like a child. I wouldn't be surprised if Spotify lost customers from making such an asinine public statement.

Maybe just maybe it is because, Apple produces the Hardware, the OS and bundle their services, while Amazon does not.......just a little "maybe"
Uh may just maybe NOT. Amazon does in fact produce hardware. They produce the Fire Stick, the iPad-style Kindle, plus Amazon has the upper hand since they offer free shipping with Prime and they use their own delivery trucks which causes UPS, FedEX, DHL and the Postal Service to lose shipping business. But nobody is calling Amazon Anti-Competitive.

Get real. You're whining about stuff that isn't true and you know it. No one is being forced to subscribe to this.

I didn’t know it was true. Stop telling people what they’re thinking when you obviously don’t have a clue buddy.

I thought Apple One was the only way to subscribe to these services as of the fall. Sorry I’m not all knowing like you are.

You must be so blessed.

Go be creative

Last time they were creative, they shoved a political playlist down my throat by forcing playlists into my homescreen full of amazing pieces of art like F*ck The Police and other gangsta/ghetto stuff. Only got rid of it after a complaint to customer care - I want my content in the app, not virtue signaling and what is currently trending in a country far away.

Now I can see the brain mush is invading the rest of what they do.

Spotify on the desktop is a cr*p Electron app. Where have *you* been?

"Anti-competitive" in practice clearly means any successful act of competition that a competitor does not like. No business has an inalienable right to a certain amount of patronage from customers. Nor is the freedom of a business owner violated if a customer decides to buy a product or service from a different business.
