Buy your music, it's more fun to discover new tracks on your own based on your own browsing as opposed to what a computer thinks you should like. This is a huge miss for todays generation.
You do realize you don't have to listen to only algorithm-based playlists and can "discover new tracks" using any music service, right?

Funny how Spotify seems so concerned with raising their prices to satisfy the stockholders, yet there is no talk of boosting the paltry revenues for the artists that feed Spotify's coffers.

The streaming model may seem convenient for you and me (and it is), but it does nothing good for artists.

It seems extraordinary to me that with all the advantages of the Apple eco-system anyone would even vaguely consider using Spotify. Just to top things off their payments to artists are also amongst the lowest.
I’m with Apple Music for this reason alone. Unfortunately I do think Spotify is the better product for music discovery - and by a large margin - I just really don’t want to have to subscribe to 2 separate streaming services and I’m already on Apple One.

They have a fine working Apple Watch app and lossless streaming. I’m confused by your post.
Their Apple Watch app is mediocre at best and acts more like a remote for your phone than a standalone app.
And lossless took them years to add.
It just feels like they're progressing extremely slowly.

This can’t be right. I was told prices would go down now that Spotify can bypass the App Store.

Spotify will raise subscription prices for users in the United States

To my knowledge Spotify can't bypass the App Store in the United States.

Their plans appear to be a touch less expensive in the EU (vs the US) already, assuming currency converters are correct. (15.01 vs 16.99 on the Duo, when converted to USD, for example)

Perhaps there are fees not shown? I'm not sure 🤷‍♂️

I dunno. that's kinda what I Love about streaming. discovering so many amazing bands. back in the day you were stuck with whatever was on radio or whatever someone else introduced you too. Until Napster in the like came into it.

That's ok.
Apple Music has such a loooooooooong way to go to just catch up with Spotify, let alone surpass them, that I'm happy to pay for the increase.
Especially since they're going Lossless.

I really don’t get why there’s a large chunk of people that are entirely devoted to Spotify even if it’s more expensive, less profitable for artists, has less features and a worse quality audio.

Even if there’s several tools to migrate all music and playlists they refuse and prefer to keep paying more…

It works better and more consistently is my understanding, from a friend who's in this camp.

I have no experience with it myself in the last 5+ years.

I buy music and use YT Music for discovery/shuffling stuff.

the price increase is purely a transfer of money from consumers to finally make shareholders whole... musicians and listeners benefit nothing from this

The same reason Apple jacks prices.

(shareholders)

There are no white knights here.

The greed of the labels is infinite. No more benefits for the creator es, just for the labels.

If I ask a salary increase my company makes a million excuses. Including more responsibilities.
What do we get from this increase as users??

Yes they can, per Judge Rogers' ruling in the Epic case.

Your bias against Spotify is showing -- you know nothing about the price increase except there will be one.
