so which page is everyone refreshing?

It is strange there's no QT stream. I'm just doing the refresh dance on apple.com/pr, but is there a section they usually announce things on first?

Hahah...

No, the guy was joking. Go to macminute.com to find out what's going on. It says right now...

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is currently recapping Apple's digital hub products, including iTunes, iMovie 2, iDVD, and Mac OS X's Image Capture application

Okay? It's not cancelled. :)

well its ipod - what a a disappointment. A glorified mp3 player. revolutionary? no - not in the least.

what is going on in Apple hq? seriously folks, tiny incremental speed bumps, and now gimmicky toys like this.

20 minute skip protection, 5 gb hard drive, 10-hour lithium-polymar battery which takes an hour to charge...

size of a deck of cards.

Interesting how apple is branching out from making personal computers, unlike other PC companies, and they are doing more what sony has been doing, only this time the products will be made for each other in their digital hub.

Nice to see them expand and influence different markets like they have done with Macs.

But quite disappointing though ...

for this price i would have made something mor complete - like a real PDA WITH the 5gb hard drive for it is both a PDA AND a mp3 player ....

I kinda agree... $400 is a bit much, isn't it? Then again, I've never been in the market for an mp3 player. I guess I won't be for a while, either. At least, not til the price comes down.

wow -
$300 Handspring = cell phone, pda, emailer... etc.

If it could play mp3s & costs $450 it would be a deal.

$399 for the iPod is simply too high. :(
Maybe I can get one cheaper on eBay...

Whoever did the pictures for MacSpy ought to be shot. Seriously, someone /.'ed it, and once again Apple is the laughing stock of everyone else (of course they are all idiots because they have not seen the true light of apple, mwahaha), as usual. Whoever wrote the bogus story and made the photoshop pics is a lame individual with waaaay too much time on their hands. That's the last time I ever visit MacSpy.com, period.

re: hostility

did someone say something about detecting hostility in what i said? i certainly didn't mean to make it sound that way

...but if you want to find hostility, just look at the posts here since the introduction of the ipod
