I randomly came across this page.

It's compares the intel x25m, patriot warp v2 and v3, ocz core, apex, and solid series

Thanks for the 4K results.. wow! pretty big difference between Intel and the OCZ vertex series in these tests.

Is the Corsair 256 Gb SSD just a re-branded Samsung 256 Gb SSD?

They have the same case and controller, and the performance numbers are identical.

Thanks.

How come no one has included a review of the stock Toshiba 256 Gb SSD that Apple includes in their Macbook Pro 17?

Is that SSD any good?

Why does Apple use the Toshiba if it is so bad?

I wish I could just order a Macbook Pro with a Samsung SSD in there.

maybe toshiba was the only avialable at the time they start to sell 17" with 256gb ssd ...

the german "macwelt" (06/09) warns in the latest ssd test to use samsung as they are working on a special firmware for macs & linux ..

at the moment it's only for windows-use.

please read here in the forum about samsung 256gb ssd ... (search)

Oh really? So I cannot put a Corsair/Samsung SSD into a 17 Macbook Pro?

OCZ Summit now available on Newegg. Updated chart.

Thanks. Are these Summit drives suppose to be better than Vertex or not? Their spec seems not bad.

Also, OCZ is planning to come out with this (the Colossus) soon... they said it should be slightly slower than the Vertex series, but for the size (500Gig - 1TB), I think its worth it if its not too expensive!! :D

As hard as it is to wait, I do think in a fairly short time, SSD will become much cheaper with bigger drives very soon.

New Summit went down in Reads, not good for me. I want faster Reads, I could care less of writes as long as they are not lower than 90 MB/s Sequential, although 150 MB/s write is nice.

OCZ Agility should be on the market any day now. Very nice speeds, and affordable too. Looks like it's going to give Intel more incentive to lower their prices. :)

PS: This thread should be a sticky

Thanks everyone for your inputs. But since the max read/write are more marketing and don't really tell the true performance, could we try to focus on random speeds (the better indicator of true performance)?
