Sport - 349/379
Stainless - 499/529
Gold - 1499/1599

Keep in mind that, thanks to the ceramic mix, the Apple Watch Edition will incorporate $400-600 in gold, not the $1000+ in gold previous predicted.

The actual electronics in each watch should cost $80-100.

This recent revelation can mean the $5000-$10000 prices for gold are in fact WAY off!!!!!!!

This is what would make the most sense to me. They stated from the beginning "Our goal has always been to make powerful technology more accessible". You aren't making it more accessible if 90% of your consumers can't afford to even put it on their wrist. And the whole, "the sport watch is for you" isn't the case for everyone. I for one wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a aluminum/fitness band in a formal work environment

If you don't have the money for a bare bones watch ($349), then most likely you don't have the money for an iPhone, which even second hand go for more than that for a 5s or newer. Since you need an iPhone to use the watch, I don't see the $349 starting price as being a huge issue.

However I do think that the problem will come when the accessory you're buying is more than the phone itself. If Apple set these prices too high (which is eminently possible), I think there could be a large public backlash. Of course, it probably won't stop people buying them, but if people have got in their heads they can get a Milanese loop for $600 and then it's $1,200, they could have a problem.

You do know that most people get their iPhones for free or for something like £100 in the uk, as they get them with a 2 year contract. Most people would never ever pay the actual price up front. This is the only way these phones have reached the price they have in the 1st place, as the cost is spread over 2 years for the vast majority.
They never see or think of the actual price.

Wow, 55% think it's going to retail for $499? Will be a lot of tears tomorrow.

CNET says that it will cost about 550$ fr 38mm SS, are they often accurate?

To be honest, I'm sure that trying to sell the SS version for more than 500€ is very risky for Apple..., let's land on earth: stainless steel is for forks, spoons and knives, is NOT a priced metal

I hope it will blow all price predictions

I really do hope that the Watch will be priced higher than all predictions I read here.

Why? The idea that it is a mass produced piece that literally millions of iPhone addicts will show off within the next 2 month is putting me off big time.

I'm sure the functionality will be limited beyond believe and I'm already seeing all these posts ranting about how disappointed they are and that they returned it after ten days or similar.

I do not think for a second that Apple will let people return a watch including all these bands and have the same lenient return policy.

Therefore I assume that everything above the cheapest Sport version will be priced way above the current iPhone.

You may hate me for it, but I honestly wish that everyone will be shocked tomorrow, because it will be the highest margin Apple release of all times.

Apple wants this product to be a personal fashion statement, not some product that just adds to the collection of Samsung, LG, Motorola and other smart watches.

I see your point, but I also know a lot of people who buy the phones outright (myself included), as it is cheaper in the long run in a lot of cases.

I think the fact that, in the UK, Apple advertises the price off contact (as opposed to the U.S. Apple site saying 'from $199') means consumers are far more aware of the actual value of the phone.

The main thing that keeps throwing me off is how they mentioned it takes 9 hours to cut the links for the link band. Seems like they could be prepping people to justify high price of the band but I still cant see them charging more that 599 or 699 for the face.

It's confusing, though. I recently signed up to a new 2 year contract with EE. I got the iPhone 6+ rather than the iPhone 6 because the contract was cheaper. (And I'm very glad I did -- I love it. I was able to sell my iPhone 5S and iPad mini retina as the 6+ replaces both.)

Even if there is only that much gold in it, keep in mind that the steel version probably has about $2 worth of steel in it, so I'd be shocked if the good version was only 3x more money.

Look at the watch market. Higher end watches never have a price based on material costs. I think most people will be surprised how much can be charged for a watch.

(My guess: $800, $1500, $5k+)

Exactly.

Sport Edition, Standard "Apple Watch" Edition, Gold Edition.

I assume the Gold Edition models can be made even more expensive depending on the bands.

So Apple is raising the price of The Sport by 130% before it even launches?:D

I don't believe anything is known completely ;)
I do not believe in the $350 sport version...

So you are saying Tim Cook was lying when he stood on stage and said it was $349???? Or are you saying he didn't know what he was talking about???

So... Tim lied to us all?

I do not believe in reality ......

You do know that you are not really posting and no one is actually reading what you are saying. It is all an illusion invented to fool you and a waist your time while a conspiracy is in the works.

I'm guessing (hoping) around $499 / $549. I am still not sure if there will be a difference between 38mm / 42mm.

The maximum that I am willing to pay for the model I want (38mm SS with black classic leather buckle and also possibly a white sport band) will be $900. However, I really hope it won't cost that much.

If you're willing to spend $900, I think you'll be just fine. I only want to spend $450 at most, so more than likely I'll be getting the 42mm Sport with the standard rubberized band. However, I may splurge for the milanese loop if it's $99 or less :)
