Just recieved my metal back from an ebay seller, and it looks great.

My friend bought one too, and we both have the same flash issue. Unless you get a specially made back (good luck) with the flash diffuser you will have this issue.

We both dont like how the flash looks on our iphone 4 pictures anyway, and mixed with how good the metal back looks, it's not enough to bother us.

The non-flash photos are still as good as with the original back.

But if you enjoy your flash, you WILL NOT like the metal backs that are floating around, unless you get the flash diffusion glass.

Where to buy?

You mean like this?

I am trying to find this exact case on cnn.cn, however all of the stainless steel covers they have say 'unbranded', where do I buy the one with the Apple branding like in the pics above? Can someone please send a link? Thanks!

Any update on this?

Would love to get a back that:

1)has metal screw holes instead of plastic
2) No Camera or flash diffuser/lens issues.

does this exist?

.....I haven't received mine yet so can't 100% confirm, however, the description for this item listed on eBay: http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?aid=220712009885&ebayref=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2FAluminum-Back-Housing-Case-Cover-for-iPhone-4-4G-TOOL_W0QQitemZ220712009885QQcategoryZ42428QQvarZQQcmdZViewItem%26autoredirect%3Doff DOES have metal screw posts.

Not sure about that diffuser though......?!

That's awesome! :) I might just order one of these the lime green one! Give us a heads up if it dramatically reduces the reception or has a bad fit. Can't wait!!:D

Finally pulled the trigger and purchased from the same seller that Hologram777, jhkaplan, & weisjt got theirs from. My question to you guys is the screw holders metal or plastic and do you have any issues in regards to the screws?

They are plastic screw holders. I did not have any problems at all. Don't over tighten them and you good.

News: To anyone in H-Town, I found a place that has the metal back with metal screws ...just worried about the diffuser.

Costs $45 install. It's the beveled one and has black plastic lining the inside. The outside camera hole has one complete plastic covering both camera and flash, but on the inside, it looks like separate pieces. But then again, it could be that way because of the plastic separating it.

They didn't yet have a 5 star screw so it gave me some time to think ....and think really long and hard about this.

Also, there was no manufacturer listed ...just packaged in a white and clear plastic bag that said "Made in China."

That makes me nervous considering the durability of another "made in China" product found in Houston ....Yao Ming.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this product? Is there any affect on the LED/Camera/Antenna?

I purchased the flat, NON-beleved silver back from eBay. A couple things:

1. I got one with the anti-static sticker on the inside.
2. It came with metal screw holes. However, one of the screw holes is too large for the iPhone screws. Thus, it does not let the bit screw in properly. Luckily, I use Phantom Skinz for light relief of antennagate on that side, which keeps the screw in place. Damn, damn China QA...
3. The LED did cause a fair bit of issues with photos. Luckily, I had a spare flash diffuser! Solved the problem.
4. As for the antenna, I haven't seen any noticeable signal degradation compared to my stock Apple back. I use the phone with no case, but just Phantom Skinz.

This thread has helped me enough that I finally made a Mac Rumors account to which I felt like I finally had something to contribute.

Ok So I'm posting this after having my Beveled Metal Back from Cnn.cn or whatever since November 30'th.

First off the Official looking black Apple words and logo on the back will start to scratch off and look really crappy. DON'T WORRY THOUGH, I actually used my finger nail to scratch off all the black print off the back of my product and now it looks WAY cooler. It's just straight up brushed steel. So if you get this product you may want to just do that right off the bat.

Secondly there hasn't been any change in my signal strength AT ALL. I've been in both Seattle AND Houston and have yet to see any change, so area doesn't seem to effect it at all. (Effect the metal back, not signal in general of course area effects signal in general).

Thirdly I have been taking literally hundreds of photos (my band has been recording in the studio and we've been using my phone to make both video and photographs of the event) and I have yet to see any different in photo quality. Honestly if you're seeing a huge different or any at all you probably smudged the inside of the camera screen on the back while you were installing it.

Fourthly the screw holes on the product I ordered ARE in fact plastic. However I haven't every really noticed a problem with that at all, just make sure you don't over tighten the screws and crack the plastic and you'll be fine.

I've dropped my phone a good 5-10 times since having this new back (not because of it just coincidence) and it has survived with minimal scratches and honestly I would say it has survived things that the glass back wouldn't have.

So yeah I'm super happy with the product, it just took forever for me to receive it.

Hmm these backs look great! Nice to hear they dont affect signal.

If only it was beveled.

....if you check out this on from ebay: http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem...redirect%3Doff, you'll find that it is,

1. Bevelled
2. Has metal screw posts

The main issue I have found with it is that because it has NO flash diffuser, the flash 'bleeds' into the camera 100% - so much so that when using the flash, you cannot actually see ANYTHING in the picture.. Its not an issue for me as I rarely use the camer anyway but just an FYI....!!;)
