If that starts happening, why wouldn't anyone waiting for a June/July pre-order simply walk into a store and check for their desired watch in stock? If it's in stock, buy it and go home to cancel your pre-order. That's the beauty of not being charged upfront, only when it actually ships.
Or am I missing something here? I guess this would really only be possible for people who aren't near an Apple store. Being in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I have 3 within an hour of me at any given time so I guess I never think about that.
I live in Newfoundland and we have a retail store which will not carry the apple watches any time soon. Closest store is 200$-400$ flight away (Halifax). So, I am officially screwed...

I also feel that most of the first produced watches were sold in China itself. I haven't come across any person who preordered from China in this forum. They might have finished those orders before they started others, I also heard that they sold a lot of Apple watches to China!
