Mechanical failure is a hold up in customs. Apparently this is happening Slit So we have a poor launch long processing times. Customs hold up. What else can go wrong.

The ship could go down and our shipment could be sleeping with the fishes.

Shanghai, China 05/31/2015 4:13 A.M. A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible.

lmao what are the odds so dissapointing was scheduled to receive this on monday june 1. in nj :mad::apple::apple::mad::mad:

Showing the same thing on my ups tracking. WTF!

this is what mine looks like now, after the mechanical delay.

It means it was released by Chinese customs. That's a GOOD thing. :)

They still have lots of time to get the planes over here.

They have buffers built into their system. They normally do US Customs clearance in Anchorage, but, if pressed, they can do it further down the line at Ontario, CA or Louisville, KY.

Still every likelihood they'll be on time.

All the flights go to Anchorage first. Then to either Ontario or Louisville. Shipments are broken up into regional shipments from there.

Looking at flight tracker....

Shanghai to Anchorage - this one flight is 7hrs, 38 minutes.
Usually takes about 6 hours from Anchorage to Louisville.

How long they sit in Anchorage before the next hop? That varies (again, if UPS is in a hurry, that will change).

Even though I just tracked those flights, I can't remember exact times. But, if it leaves Shanghai tonight/early Sun. morning, it'll get to PANC around 2pm PDT. Then it'll sit for few hours and fly Sunday evening to arrive in KSDF early Monday AM (PDT). From there, it'll fly out to local hubs in time for Monday delivery.

Just checking flights and can see UPS 81 is en-route to PANC, arriving 9:59 AKDT tonight. It just left a few minutes ago, so there should be a UPS departure update very soon (like within 15-30 min.). (Looks like it the normal departure time was 2:00am CST (Shanghai time).)

Hope all of you that got the mechanical delay are on that flight. :)

For all of those with the "mechanical failure" delivery status, our packages are on UPS flight 81 if you want to track it. Departed at 6am local time, should arrive in ANC at 10pm 5/30. I anticipate an on time delivery for most of us.

How to tell which flight

It is probably answered somewhere on the forum; however, how do you tell what flight your watch is on? What information after it is shipped are you looking at UPS, or Apple? Again, sorry if this has been answered previously.

How can I add apple care+ to my watch before I receive it? is that possible?

Good Morning!

You have 90 Days to consider Apple Care, but if you want to do it now just call up customer service and they will add it for you.

I hope so, scheduled for Monday

You use FlightAware to compare departing flights with tracking info. That's how he and I did it. I saw that my package had a departure scan at 5:40AM China Starndard Time and that UPS81 took off at 5:58AM CST headed for Anchorage. Is that deduction or induction, the differences keep confusing me.

Unless the watch is different, when I worked at Apple you only had 60 days to buy AC+

It's still 60 days.

It's better to order it now if you haven't yet - before you receive it (and after shipping, so it's on your support profile). They need the serial number to add it. If you order it before you receive it, no inspection of the watch is required.

I've added AppleCare+ to two watches by phone after receiving them, no inspections required. They just took my credit card number and it was done.

Yeah....I'm sure they look at your purchase date and cut you some slack if it's within the last x days, but where's that line? Call a day over it, you have to go into the store.

It won't be 60 days from the preorder. But something around the time you first turn the device on. Purchase dates wear a little confusing even as an employee, but it seemed to match when the device is first powered on and ran through the setup Assisstant or the day the retailer submits to apple, whichever is first. So it's probably 60 days from PFS. The support profile site will tell you how much time you have.

It's 60 days from when you receive the watch.
