Hey guys,

the dads birthday is coming up and theres not many things he needs. he does use his ipad to watch a movie every night but he complains at times because of the weight. he usually lays flat on his back instead of propped up so he has to use his energy to hold up the ipad directly above him. needless to say that if he drops it, his face will get pretty hurt. so far this is the only thing i was able to find. any help or other suggestions?

Can anyone suggest any solutions you can travel with? The smart cover doesn't quite work if you want to lie down (potentially with other people) and watch the iPad in the dark...

I have a little desk next to my bed that I use. I will admit its not always comfortable but it works. Some kind of stand would be nice but I don't think it'd be sturdy enough.

I'd never use it, but I think this product is pretty awesome!

It seems like what your dad really wants is a (11"?) MacBook Air. Maybe put some money towards that for him?

yeah, that was the original plan but hes not a big fan of laptops. to him, he uses a computer enough at work so once he gets home he just wants to be away from everything, which is where the ipad comes in. he uses that strictly for entertainment. he bought a 2011 imac a few months ago for the kitchen if he has to do any pressing work but other than that he likes to steer clear of comps at home.

I'm not sure if this guy is for real.

They look as though they wolkd work, though need a bit more style.

yikes! those priced are steep!

I have been using one of these for the past month and my iPad 2 almost never leaves it.

I really love this thing. They are $59 at best buy. A little pricey, but mine was a gift.

This thing is awesome for lounging on the couch, in bed, on the lap, on a coffee table, kitchen counter. I also have the smart cover but that is now used exclusivly for taking the iPad out of the house. I prefer the angles you can get out of the "bean bag" over the smart cover.

@Natesac, I bought one for me and my sibs. Thank you!

You won't regret it. I know it's a bit pricey, but I really really love mine.

One world of caution, don't use it if your iPad 2 has a skin on the back. I had a very thin icarbons skin on my iPad and it caused my first lounge pad to crack. The case is made to an extremely snug fit and requires the iPad to be completely bare.

I have the Griffin Loop stand and just put the stand on my chest and watch movies that way. yeah its odd that the stand is on my chest but I dont even notice it after a couple of minutes.

Mount a tv on the ceiling and then use the apple cable to mirror what is on the screen. Now he can lay flat and stare at the ceiling...

Hope you were able to get 50% off using the promo code FB50. Good until the end of September.

Thanks - I had that and I was going to use it, but I'm spoiled by Amazon Prime. Taking into consideration the shipping savings and ease of support from Amazon, a few bucks difference made it worth buying from Amazon. That, and besides being normally impatient, I'm tired of hooking the iPad in a pillow drawstring to prop it up. It works, but is really awkward for landscape. Hopefully, this gadget will take its place tomorrow (did I say I was impatient? ;) ).
