Two words: hot cakes
I said this after the announcement about the regular iPhone 17. Yes, I am something of a fortune teller ;)
Or just thinking like a regular Joe: why pay more for less (ie Air) or pay a lot more for only slightly more (ie Pro). Nothing to fault on the hardware side. Maybe the pettiness of including usb2 speeds over usbc. But nothing major that might hold anyone back who is in an Apple Store. I personally would have like a mini version though….

I just don’t understand how people don’t like bigger screen and better battery life in plus versions as a 15 plus user. This years base model is already seems to be a hit and imagine it with a bigger screen even 6.7 or 6.9 inches and with a much bigger battery. I respect to small phone lovers but IMO a plus version would also be great.

I am going to check it out this weekend, I need to upgrade my iphone 13 and as long as this new phone has really good battery life than I will get it..just wish that tmobile had better trade in value, for my phone they are offering 135 while apple is offering 200 but its on my brother in laws plan so not sure how I would go around trading it into the apple store

iPhone 17 is a good value but only has 8 GB of RAM. 17 Pros has 12 GB of RAM, better cameras and mics
I believe extra RAM is essential for ProRes photos and videos. A typical phone user won't notice much difference. As a tech enthusiast, I still choose the regular iPhone.
In Canada the price difference between regular iPhone and iPhone Pro is 470 dollars.
iPhone Pro is a great phone but for 470 dollars extra, I choose the regular iPhone.

It’s a great value, but I think Apple made the pro colors so bad that people are looking to the base and the air. Definitely played a big role in going to the air myself this year. Burnt orange is probably the worst phone color I’ve ever seen and the blue isn’t great either. It doesn’t make sense for Apple to push people away from their most profitable phones over having just 3 color choices, 2 of which are, well, let’s just say polarizing at best.

How is Apple surprised? They put the 6.3" Pro size screen with the Pro 120Hz pro-motion on the base model and doubled the base storage. Sounds like most people feel that the extra $300 for the additional telephoto lens isn't worth that upcharge.
That’s a very good thing.

Why buy loads of cameras if you don’t want or them? People were buying the Pro mainly for the ProMotion screen.

It was like the bad old days when the only way you could get a MacBook with a screen bigger than 13” was to buy a MacBook Pro. That was just gouging.

The base 17 is one of the best iPhones ever made in terms of price/features.

The 17 Pro models are the ugliest iPhones ever made. Even, having skipped gray and dark colors are one of Apple’s dumbest decision in years.

Did you imagine an orange MacBook Pro or iPad Pro? Absurd.

Even with grey and dark colours, it would still look ugly.

It’s less so the colours, but rather the two-tone cutout that’s jarring and off putting.

Agreed. I'm trading in my old spare 13 tomorrow for a base 17. I'll have to then determine if that 17 will be my primary or still my 16 Pro 256 from last year (which is still a fine phone of course). The 6.3" screen w/pro-motion was indeed the biggest factor in going with the Pro last year (and the mini-mini-iPad of a 17 Pro Max was too big for my liking).
