I am interested in seeing this, but the music they put to the trailer did absolutely nothing for me. If you take a look at the past trailers, the music played a big part in getting me ready and wanting to see the movie. This one not so much.

Here is a link to those that do not remember the previous trailers:

I liked the previous two movies, the first one more so than the second one. But they both were good.

I'll admit I haven't seen ST: Into Darkness in full yet, but the first one was really good, even for the fact that it was the last movie to have any Roddenberry influence in it (Majel was the computer). I really hope that Gene gets involved. It would not only be fitting, but he admits that with Gene's life being taken up so much by Star Trek that he missed his presence as a father, but now knows what he was doing was for him and future generations. I would hope that Gene carries on that torch.

BL.

Those more or less just had a background score vs. a soundtrack per se, and they were basically full trailers as well, and while this one is on the longer side, it seems to be more of a hybrid of sorts between a teaser (being the first preview that has been released for the movie) and a full traditional trailer. I don't know how much of it all plays a role one way or another really, but perhaps some of these things contribute something here or there.

Oh I agree they are background scores and not music. That is what I liked about them. They felt bigger. The one in question for Movie #3 is a full trailer.

I have a feeling that a more traditional full trailer--that will be somewhat longer and with a more typical background score--will likely come out a bit further down the line (as usually happens after a teaser trailer is first released, even though this first one was less of that).

Heck even the teasers for the first two movies, to me sounded better. Again, I will see the movie but the trailer has left it very flat for me.
I agree about this particular teaser/trailer, not so much about the music part of it (although perhaps that's part of it as well), but more about the "generic" feel to it.

There was this too..... Maybe it was combination of all the above that left me feeling very flat and "eh" about the movie.

I liked the first movie they did. Darkness was even better than this. I'll see it anyways when it comes out but the trailer isn't helping.
I'm an old trekkie and I've not seen any of the new Star Treks at the movie theaters. I've not really liked what I've seen on the trailers to plunk down money. I will say "Into the darkness" wasn't a horrible movie, but if they stopped trying to copy Wrath of Khan so much it would have been a better movie.

Watched the trailer at the movies today. Noted that it has a Chinese director and in wait and see mode. I was really unhappy when John Woo directed Mission Impossible 2 which included over the top action.

He directed a number of the Fast and Furious movies, along with some of the most recent season of True Detective and some other TV shows. He hasn't done any Chinese movies as far as I know as he basically grew up in US.

Are we talking about the same John Woo? Look at is resume and bio at IMDB. And is he known for over the top action? ;)

I had the wrong director. Would you say his Fast and Furious director efforts were over the top? I'm still in wait and see mode. :)
They were fitting to that franchise's style. Of course it's hard to say what it will be like when it comes to Star Trek, but I was just saying that the whole part about Chinese cinema doesn't necessarily really have much to do with him.

Hopefully that's true and I've already admitted I had the wrong guy. :) And you don't have to be influenced by martial arts films, to be an over the top <cough> Guy Ritchie director. I've not seen the later FF entries, but I remember them being critiqued as over the top so I'm still in wait and see mode.
