I wonder how much those things weigh? Does anyone have an estimate on its weight?
I hope whoever gets it knows how to scrape the hard drive of deleted files.

I remember carrying one of these with an external hard disc AND a voltage stabiliser all the way from the UK to Egypt in 1988, and again in 1989, and using it on a dig (in the dig house, not in the field). So it was sort of portable. Then we took it to LA as well, so it was pretty well travelled.
Um.... No hard drive in this Mac. In the ancient days of computing, they had to boot from floppies.QUOTE]
I grew up with this computer and we had an external HDD so we didnt have to boot from disks.. the HDD was HUGE, about the whole footprint of the mac plus... Ive still got the machine and it turns on but the CRT is dead so i get no image... i would LOVE to get it working in like new condition if not for anything else, just for the novalty of it. but its not worth putting any money into a machine that cant do... well anything really by todays standards.

I remember thinking I was very clever and having a RAM disc in that 1MB to simplify disc swapping. Then got the HD which was big at 10 MB in 1988. What were we going to do with all that storage we thought? [Today I saved a greyscale Photoshop image at 540mb.]
Only $800-$1200? That's not very much. I guess I expected it to get more, being a collector's item for Mac enthusiasts and Star Trek enthusiasts.
Wow, I'm surprised about the price. Back in the days when I had any disposable income)), I'd happily have paid more than that, just for the model number, never mind that it was owned by Roddenberry!

On an interesting note: they still use QWERTY keyboards in the 23rd Century. How else would Scotty be so skilled at touch typing?
I think it'll bring way more than that.
Some Apple/Star Trek geek would give more than that.
Hopefully MacRumors will post a followup!

so the case makes it portable, right!
