I'm at a Starbucks right now. It did not work at all. Got the card to show up in passport but passport never came on, had to load the app and use the card there. Added the store as a favorite beforehand
I can't get it to work, either. I have the app, and I setup a card for Passbook via the Manage menu in the app. Location services are set to ON. My stores are set to Favorite. When I approach a store, the lock screen displays a banner showing the Starbucks at which I have arrived. However, pressing the banner does nothing, and sliding to unlock just takes me to the home screen as usual. I actually have to open up Passbook manually to get to my Passbook card, which sort of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. No point in having Location Services draining your battery constantly for no payoff. I've been setting Location Services to off just before arriving near a store, but again, it would take less button presses to just open the official app. Is it just me that thinks Passbook is silly?
can anyone report the impact on battery life?
I had the Starbucks passbook running all day with location services on and I saw no noticeable degradation in battery life. Another nice thing I noticed is that, as soon as I left the vicinity of the store, the lockscreen notification disappeared on its own.
At this point it's not really an issue, because my first experience with Starbucks and Passbook this morning was less than stellar. First of all, I walked into the store and it didn't pop up on my lock screen. So I had to go into PB manually, just as I would have done before with the SB app. Then, once I paid for the drink the PB card didn't update with my new balance. Went into the SB app, and it updated. Back to PB, still no update.
My experience today was exactly the same as yours. Step for step - up to where I quoted you.
I had to click the card, click "Manage Card," then click "Add to Passbook." It took 2 or 3 tries before it worked.
Anyone know how to deal with this?

And me. Didn't update the pb balance until I deleted and re-added the card
Let's see a Tim Horton's Passbook App!!!
Starbucks is overrated, eh?![]()
As I said, it's not the "$10" card I'm worried about, but the fact that it's tied to my debit card with autoload. And BTW, It's no longer a $300 phone if it's lost. It's a $650 phone.

So I put the phone in my pocket and left the store. Got about a block away and viola, I get a notification that I'm walking into the store!! Then later, I look at PB again. Still no balance update. In the end I had to go to the SB app and "add" the card to PB again to get PB's balance to update.
Not very impressed.
Notes is not crap since it integrated iCloud sync IMO, I use it quite often as I can now access the notes on my iPad / Computer / iPhone. Stocks is not crap for me because I work in that industry... but I like the CNBC app much more.
So another update today and still no UK passbook!!!!
