I'm at a Starbucks right now. It did not work at all. Got the card to show up in passport but passport never came on, had to load the app and use the card there. Added the store as a favorite beforehand

Passbook flaws

I can't get it to work, either. I have the app, and I setup a card for Passbook via the Manage menu in the app. Location services are set to ON. My stores are set to Favorite. When I approach a store, the lock screen displays a banner showing the Starbucks at which I have arrived. However, pressing the banner does nothing, and sliding to unlock just takes me to the home screen as usual. I actually have to open up Passbook manually to get to my Passbook card, which sort of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. No point in having Location Services draining your battery constantly for no payoff. I've been setting Location Services to off just before arriving near a store, but again, it would take less button presses to just open the official app. Is it just me that thinks Passbook is silly?

Strange as it worked perfectly for me. Downloaded it to my phone and used it twice today at Starbucks (a morning and afternoon quad espresso, it was that sort of day). I have location services on, and the starbucks passbook card has the "show in lockscreen" option on. As soon as I'm near the door the notification shows up on my lockcreen.

Might be a silly question, but did you "press" the notification banner? You actually use the lock screen notification by "sliding" your finger across the Starbucks notification itself, much like you do to unlock your phone - but not on the actual unlock bar, again you slide your finger across the Starbucks notification itself. This brings up the Passbook gift card for them to scan without my needing to type in my passcode to unlock the phone.

can anyone report the impact on battery life?

I had the Starbucks passbook running all day with location services on and I saw no noticeable degradation in battery life. Another nice thing I noticed is that, as soon as I left the vicinity of the store, the lockscreen notification disappeared on its own.

Awesome!! Thanks. Was a little concerned if it would effect the battery life

At this point it's not really an issue, because my first experience with Starbucks and Passbook this morning was less than stellar. First of all, I walked into the store and it didn't pop up on my lock screen. So I had to go into PB manually, just as I would have done before with the SB app. Then, once I paid for the drink the PB card didn't update with my new balance. Went into the SB app, and it updated. Back to PB, still no update.

My experience today was exactly the same as yours. Step for step - up to where I quoted you.

The StarbucksUK Twitter account says passbook will come soon. But sending an email to customer support gets you this:

"I apologise, but currently we do not have information for Starbucks Cards being integrated with Passbook. If we do end up having this option, we will notify our customers. I also will document that you are wanting to have Starbucks Card apart of Passbook. We welcome feedback from our customers and I have shared your comments with the appropriate team for their attention."

IF?! So there is no plan for it? Send your feedback to Starbucks.co.uk

You have to slide the banner, not press. And not Slide to Unlock either. You know, the way notification works since the beginning.

And me. Didn't update the pb balance until I deleted and re-added the card

You can pull to refresh to update your balance.

Starbucks, Starbucks everywhere

I've been traveling Seattle/Puget Sound all week. I've had no luck with passbook popping up a notification on my lock screen. Have I misunderstood (likely) that the Passbook and Starbucks app should detect when I'm at ANY Starbucks and pull up the notification? I've visited several over the past day or so and no luck whatsoever. Even with the one by the hotel, which I set as a favorite.

Error Message trying to load card from Starbucks app

I continue to receive the following message when trying to load my Starbucks card via the new app:

"There was an error adding your card to Passbook. Please try againg later."

Log out/login/reload the app/different device have not resolved the issues. Any others with same issue and have a solution? I have not tried deleting and adding the card again but will later.

Star Rewards

Hmmm.... Got my Starbucks Gold card to load perfectly and the amount updates to the same amount on the Starbucks app. What I haven't seen so far is the addition of my Star Rewards. Anyone else seen their rewards update through Passbook?

Let's see a Tim Horton's Passbook App!!!

Starbucks is overrated, eh? :apple:

That would be good in Canada !

----------

OK, does anything work in Canada? Passbook shows Cineplex, American Airlines, United and Lufthansa apps, but no Starbucks or Tim Horton's. I checked out the Cineplex and AA apps but neither said anything about Passbook. I'm flying AA soon and I could go to a Cineplex movie soon. Should I try them? I guess I have to join their card membership first. (Maybe then it will offer to let me connect it to Passbook.

As I said, it's not the "$10" card I'm worried about, but the fact that it's tied to my debit card with autoload. And BTW, It's no longer a $300 phone if it's lost. It's a $650 phone. ;)

So I put the phone in my pocket and left the store. Got about a block away and viola, I get a notification that I'm walking into the store!! Then later, I look at PB again. Still no balance update. In the end I had to go to the SB app and "add" the card to PB again to get PB's balance to update.

Not very impressed.

OK, much better today. App popped up on my lock screen as I was walking into the door of the SB. Opened right up, scanned perfectly. PB balance is now updating from the SB app, also. Although it doesn't happen for a while. I like.

Starbucks iOS

Two updates and still no iP5 support. What a shame.

Notes is not crap since it integrated iCloud sync IMO, I use it quite often as I can now access the notes on my iPad / Computer / iPhone. Stocks is not crap for me because I work in that industry... but I like the CNBC app much more.

"Crap" was a rather strong word, I must admit; and really what's crap about them is the fact that we're not allowed to remove them - it's not the apps themselves that are the problem. :D

Perhaps I should have used "redundant" with regards to Notes, since I've been using Dropbox to accomplish all that for quite some time.

I can see how Stocks could be useful to some folks, but it's a pointless app for me.

Starbucks banner won't go away!

Does anyone know how to fix this??

The Starbucks app was working great on my iphone4s until I enabled the location feature. I live near Venice Blvd. in LA and every 2 seconds, a banner would pop up saying "Starbucks Venice Crossroads". I turned off ALL notifications regarding the Starbucks app, but the banner was still in my lock screen EVERY time I turned on my phone.

I have now deleted the Starbucks app and the banner is STILL there! I tried synching, restating, etc. and nothing works.

Anyone know how to solve? I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone!
