When you first start out, you get a quest to talk to all the townspeople.

if you don’t talk to everyone to complete that quest. it will be a very different game than what many millions have enjoyed.

Mentioning it, because every time I find someone who didn’t get Stardew, they didn’t complete that quest, and a LOT of what the game offers remains locked behind it.

Why is there no link to the app? There are several other irrelevant links to things like macrumors’ “what is Apple Arcade” page, but not a link to the game itself. Feels pretty self serving and lazy.
Links are probably only for sponsored content. ;)

Stardew Valley is a great game that's gotten lots of free updates from the developer, but Apple needs to try harder on this service, the face remains that this is a game that came out 7.5 years ago and has been already on every platform imaginable including Linux, Vita, Android, Playstation 4/5, Switch and Xbox One/ X/S

If these are the types of games that are the only ones that can be played on Vision Pro, Apple will have missed out on a large portion of a potential customer base...

Yes, I did, obviously a bit tongue and cheek, I guess you missed the . Quite obviously, I am not impressed with the graphics quality of Stardew Valley +.
It’s a 16-bit pixel style game. There are quite a few newly produced game that has this style and I think most of them look good if you see them for what they try to acheive graphics wise.

And that dev whose widely well-regarded product you are mocking has had more success from this game than you will in ten lifetimes. Chew on that.

So only positive review posts are allowed?

I couldn't help but notice you posted this:

I guess if I were to apply your "logic" then I'd say to you: "Google has had more success from that phone (and their malware) than you will in 10,000 lifetimes. Chew on that."?

Grow up, some of us don't like the game being discussed. If you do, that's great, enjoy it. Notice I took issue with the game itself, not others and their opinions/reviews. Take post #32 from @star-affinity, that is an example of civil discourse. Be better.

Stardew Valley Low Down

-It is not designed around the freemium model game (you must buy tokens to progress)
-The game progression takes a long time (if you are new) and continues to lead to more challenges which adds a quest-like nature to the game. Imagine a game where you have to think a little.
-stardewvalley wiki is a missing reference that you can use to get an idea of what to do next if you get stuck

All this to say it has been one of the few $6.99 purchases on the apply store that has provided me hours of entertainment without ads or in-app purchases (which don't exist at all)

I think the porting of some of those freemium model games leaves the game experience as lacking. Your goal is always to accumulate points or coins

A welcome addition to Arcade! I'm happy for the developer.

Uh, what?

Are you really crapping on the game based on the graphics? AND comparing Stardew Valley to a game from 1987?

You probably don't even pay for Apple Arcade, why should you care anyways? People find anything to complain nowadays, sigh.
You should never judge a game based on its graphics, but you shouldn't judge a game by its year of release either. Leisure Suit Larry was a great game, like Space Quest and King's Quest.

It’s best on PC. Hard to work with a controller, at least for me. I played too many hours on PC but never could get into it on Switch either.

Yes, I am, to me graphics are the most important piece of a game experience. Might and Magic I was fun at the time but I have no desire to go back and play it again.

Maybe it’s my age but I find this a strange perspective to have. Graphics are THE most important? You must hate the Switch. Essentially every game on it is gameplay first, graphics second.

Good graphics are nice and yes if the game type calls for it they should do a good job. Look at Pokémon Scarlet & Violet vs Zelda TOTK. The Pokemon game looks like someone puked graphics on the screen, the Zelda game looks good. But it isn’t graphically incredible. The graphics are as good as they need to be to support the gameplay.

First off, thank you for the civil discourse.

I guess at this point I would say yes, graphics are the most important aspect, to me. As stated, Might and Magic I (I played them all) were fun in their day and the early ones were highly accredited for gameplay but I still cannot play them again and pretend to enjoy it, yes I tried and downloaded them all from GOG.

Since retiring my PS4 I only game on my PC (though I play some Steam games on my Mac) and only PVZ2 on my iPad) and mostly play MMOs or FPS and I have never owned or played with a Switch.

Yeah with MMO and FPS you may as well go for the best graphics. The gameplay of those is highly refined at this point so it’s kind of the inverse of what I said. As long as the gameplay is up to a certain standard, pump up the graphics.

Existing games that are released under Apple Arcade all have "+" added to them. The difference would be no ads, no in-app purchases, no daily limits, etc. This makes the experience more pleasant. Other than that, the games are exactly the same.

In a rare case, the Arcade app actually has reduced features -- the Chess.com app. There is no legitimate reason for this, so that's sort of a scam. I don't know if there are others like this.
Also worth noting is the '+' moniker is strictly on the iOS side. If the game doesn't exist for non-AA iOS, but does on Android, Steam, Switch, PS5, etc., then it would not get a '+' suffix
I don't really play video games much, but I liked this one. It kinda stinks on ios, though.
What were the issues? Controls? Interface? Missing/tweaked content?

What makes it "Stardew Valley+"? Sounds like the same game to me (which is a fantastic game by the way, anyone looking for a relaxing life/farming simulator should try it).
Basically I think the way Arcade is set up on the App Store backend can’t cope with adding an existing premium game to its rental model. So they have to add a duplicate app to the store that’s set up for rental rather than purchase. In most cases that’s all the ‘+’ signifies. It’s confusing crap that gives a false impression to consumers of an improvement where usually none exists. The kind of thing where we’d normally expect better from Apple.

In some cases it does mean the removal of in-app purchases or ads, or even an update where the original app is no longer functional on modern devices. In even more limited cases it can mean the game has been rebalanced to reflect the removal of IAPs, and progression is actually fun now. None of those apply to Stardew Valley. It’s literally just the same game with a different app ID.

It would be only fair to mention that the game can be bought outright on the same app store for the princely sum of ... 4.99. Or you could pay 4.99 every month to play it, your choice.

What an awful response.

Awful how? Only positive posts allowed? Not allowed to express an opinion other than one that glows positive? Don't upset the fanbois? Which sign did I miss?

How can you judge a game by its graphics?

Very easily. To me, graphics are a huge part of the experience, simple as that. YMMV.

Stardew Valley’s graphics have a lot of charm to them

Not to me they don't. If you enjoy the game that's great.

Notice I commented on the game itself, not the others here expressing their view of it. Sorry, not sorry you were triggered by my expression.

I didn't care for the controls; maybe if you use an actual controller. It's also missing co-op gameplay.

I bought a copy for my niece to play on her iPad, however, and she loves it.
