I chose aluminium for a few generations prior and I have to say stainless steel is the best. I’m now wearing the stainless steel S7 with the link bracelet and it looks so good!

The Link Bracelet came with my SS S0 and I’ve been wearing the band since 2015 despite having upgraded to several newer generations. It’s well worth the money spent.

See, that looks quite nice (not my taste when it comes to the strap, though.)

However, in store the SS looks completely different.

It literally looked like shiny plastic!

Could it be the lighting?

If it looked like this in the store, I probably would have got it.

Fwiw I have SBTi and Nike starlight alu. Seriously debating returning the SBTi. Not trying to overhype starlight to you, just saying I like it even against the Time (and SS graphite). My previous watch was space gray, so I’m probably biased towards wanting a lighter watch this year. Nevertheless, it’s not a given that the SS & Ti are necessarily preferable to starlight.

Aluminium for me. I can throw on a screen protector. The extra money up front for the SS is pretty hefty, IMO, and then you get stung again with poor resale.
It wouldn’t be that much more money, because I’d be getting aluminium with cellular anyway.

It all comes down to aesthetics for me.

Haha I do have to agree that for stainless steel bands, nothing comes close to Rolex‘s bracelet.

but this hand adjustable link bracelet is still a nice and classic design from the original Apple Watch.

Having said that, I bought the starlight 41mm for the wife. She is very happy with the color and she is not impressed with the stainless steel options.

My first watch (Series 0) was stainless and scratched too easily and felt heavy on my wrist. I tried Natural Ti last year after a series of Aluminum watches. I was thrilled with it at first, but it also scratched easily. I know you can buff out the scratches which I did, but not completely and it bothered me to see them. This year I got the Starlight and I love it. I like the color and it is so light I can hardly feel it on my wrist. I haven't had any problems with scratches on the cases or
screens of my previous aluminum watches.

I have been struggling with going to the larger watch OR going stainless. No way I can go larger AND stainless - I know the weight would bother me.

I also worry about the size of the larger watch on my wrist. My sister’s 44 is okay, but I’m wondering if that extra mm is gonna push it just a tad - my wrists are small.

And I know people will say it’s only a mm, but there’s a noticeable difference in my 40 and my daughter’s 41 when side by side on my wrist which really surprised me.

Have you made a decision yet? ? I remember that you were struggling to decide.

What’s the model and material of your current watch?

I've had SS, SBSS, SG Aluminum and now Starlight Aluminum. I think SS dresses up the nicest and works with essentially almost any band. SBSS is the dressiest "dark" color (although the new Graphite is nice). I think the old Space Gray aluminum did a very credible job of looking much like SBSS / graphite. You the wearer can tell of course, but I think people have to look VERY carefully to see if someone else wearing an AW is wearing a space gray aluminum vs. a SBSS, vs. a graphite, vs. a SBTi, or I assume the new midnight. Dark watches are... dark. They all sorta look the same to me. I'm wearing the Starlight this year and I like it very much, I wanted to move away from dark for a change of pace and I think Starlight looks so much less sterile and toy watch than the old silver. I think SS is still nicer, but Starlight is great, especially if you plan to wear this mostly with sports bands and solo loops.

I mostly miss sapphire, you do get micro scratches on the aluminum IonX glass, but I never had any scratches that were really that visible unless I was looking for them in reflected light with a mostly black watchface. For me buying aluminum is mainly about justifying my habit of buying a new AW every single year.

I have the series 6, silver aluminum, 40mm. I’m toying with upgrading because my daughter wants my current watch. I’ve considered the bigger watch for several years, but never made the jump.

If I may, perhaps you can get the S7 in 41mm SS and 45mm in Alu or Ti models. Try them for few days and see which one is comfortable for your wrists.

Hey guys speaking about SS, I ordered a gold SS because I’ve had both Space gray and silver aluminum in the past. I’d like something different. does anyone know if the gold one holds up well? I’m wondering if I should have ordered graphite or silver though because I have a cool skin tone. I know I’m so over thinking this lol. I didn’t like the silver on the 3 though so for the 5 I went Space gray.

If you buy the 41mm Series 7 you get a screen that is 95% the same size as the 44mm Series 6 screen, but without worrying about the watch being too big on a smaller wrist. You can literally get essentially the screen you sister's watch has, but in a smaller body.

Nope. I’m so indecisive. I tried my sister’s 44 on again over the weekend, and I really like it, but it’s definitely right at the borderline where it is about to go over the edges of my wrist. I’m worried the 45 will be just enough bigger to be too big.
It's a tough decision to make and sometimes we have to take some time to really think it through.
I've changed my mind over the weekend. Was so sure with the big one at first because it looked so good on me (which it really does). But I noticed that it began to feel uncomfortable over time which I had never experienced with the small one over the last year. I wear my Apple watch all day, so that really concerned me. At last I decided today to swallow my own pride and go with the small one. It saddens me a bit but practicality won over look here.

Always ss for me.
Regarding the braided loop, you can wash them when they stretch . Puts them back to original size.
How do you wash them? With just a little soap and water in the sink, or though the laundry? Does it take as long to get stretched out again as it took the first time?

Totally subjective - I really hate the Starlight color. I would have bought a cell Nike in silver aluminum but actually paid the extra $200 for a silver stainless steel watch...that's how much I hate the Starlight color.

Both methods work. Keep the temperature low. Elastic materials get damaged with heat. In the laundry you just have to put it into a bag or net. I once lost one somewhere in the universe of washing machine victims. It now lives with all the lost socks and hair bands.
After washing it is basically as new and will stretch out again over time.

You’re tiptoeing around it, but I feel like you don’t love the starlight ?☺️

I was deciding between the starlight Nike edition and either the Ti or stainless steel. Love the Nike faces and the starlight with the starlight strap looks so fresh! The other metals are gorgeous of course but it’s a different vibe.

I have small wrists too. So as much as I want a bigger screen, the bigger watch just looks funny on me- The size covers my entire wrist so you can never even see the band I'm wearing.

Although I understand big watches are in, I only wear them (Chanel, Chopard, Rolex) for a few hours as a fashion piece. I can never imagine wearing them as a daily activity watch as well as to track my sleep.

Also, you can adjust the font size on your watch to make reading a bit easier. Just my two cents.

Happy shopping. :D :)
