Hello everyone. I missed my class, my first class and the only class I had today. I'm kind of pissed at myself for not at least trying. I contacted my advisor to see if she can help work this out because I can't be waking up every morning, freaking out and not going to class. I'm not sure what else to do, I'm pretty upset right now.
Sorry to hear that. I think at this point it would be best to seek professional advice. If you already have, it might to time to consider a second opinion, or asking your doctor for an alternative treatment.

Perhaps your school offers counseling/psychological services? They might have unique experience helping entering students with any stress associated with starting college.

Word of caution: I sincerely hope whatever the OP is taking is not an anti-depressant. Anti-depressants are just about the most dangerous drug produced. Look into the history of every single school shooting in the past decade and in EVERY single case you discover that the perpetrator was on anti-depressant drugs. Why do you think the FDA demanded pharmaceutical companies now add suicide warnings to their products? For that exact reason.

Here's the common process of addiction that the pharmaceutical companies brainwash so many into:

Kindergarden - Grammar School:
Kid is hyper so they put him on Ritalin

Middle School:
Kid is depressed so they put him on anti-depressants

High School - Adult:
Kid is suicidal so they put him on anti-suicide drugs

This is no coincidence. It's strategically planned by the pharmaceutical companies so they have customers paying them for life.

Out of the few million people that take anti-depressants the few that have been involved in school shootings are significant? Doubtful. Sure, anti-depressants may be linked to certain side effects, one of which for some people may be suicidal or homicidal tendency, but to say that they are the most dangerous drug out there is a little wild. How about Vicodin or Oxycontin, how many people have those drugs killed? I'd bet a similar amount to anti-depressants, even if its by a different means. Anti-depressants also happen to be the most prescribed drug in America with 118 million prescriptions in 2005, so you'd expect to see the side effects manifest themselves prominently some times.

I'd hardly call it brainwashing. Many people take Ritalin without moving on to anti-depressants and anti-sucicide drugs. I happen to know at least 50 students myself that took Ritalin in elementary and middle schools but never took anti-depressants latter on. I can't find any info on it but I'd bet the correlation isn't as prominent as you claim it to be.

Regardless, drugs can help and they can hurt. If you don't need them you shouldn't be on them. If you can control your problem without them, you don't need them, if you have any side effects you must tell your doctor about them. Drugs should also not be the only method of treatment, if your taking you Ritalin by not seeing you Psychiatrist then there really won't be a great benefit. If we used common sense we would have so many freaking problems.

The only reason you freak out is because you're afraid you're going to fail. Don't worry about it, man. College is not that big of a deal. And either do it or don't. You either need to give it your all or don't go at all. Don't do it half-assed. It'd be better to skip college altogether. And trust me, if you're determined, you will not end up as some idiot flipping burgers at McDonald's if you don't go to college. I don't care how many people tell you that you will if you don't get a college degree. They are wrong!

Just trust your intuition and if college is for you, great. If it's not, that's fine, too. College is not the end all and getting a college degree does not, in any way, ensure success.

People with Anxiety disorders analyze everyone and everything. If they have to so somewhere, then keep thinking where is the place, who is there, what if this happens or what if that happens what if i bump into someone? what if someone talks to me ? . This is half my issue and could be the OP's also.

just my 2 cents

They don't need any drugs, they just need to get in present time. Those people are living in the past and are basing their present off of past experiences. That's the only reason they would second guess things. It sounds crazy but to get more in the present, just increase your level of observation. Go out and touch and look at things (trees, street lights, the road, cars, people, the sidewalk, etc) and realize what those things are and realize where you are. For example, right now it's 1:34PM on October 8th, 2008 and I'm in Los Angeles, California, United States of America, Planet Earth, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy.

Sounds crazy but try it. To get in present time you have to realize you are in present time and build your affinity with your environment.
