I'm sticking with my 5. There's absolutely no reason for me to upgrade to the 5S. I don't need to get every single new iPhone that comes out, that's just ridiculous, in my opinion. I'll most likely get the 6 that should come out next year, that, to me, is worth an upgrade.

I'm staying with my i5 too. Other than the fingerprint sensor, theres no other reasonable reason for me to get the 5s.

I just bought an ip5. Top model for cheaper then you can get a 16 ip5s. I'm happy with that and will wait for the 6/6s. I sold my ip5 a while ago and enjoyed using an SG4, but I want to go back to iOS. So this move makes sense to me. The upgrades are not worth the extra money for me and I liked my ip5 while I had it.

Most of the time when I swap phones I sell the other and if I need to, I'll cover the difference. Most of the time I only ever pay at most £100 towards another phone. While wasteful to most I don't mind so much. I save my money for these occasions :)

No real point to upgrade while my iPhone 5 is still supported by software and the hardware works perfectly. I'll save my cash for the next iPhone if it comes with a cant do without feature. If it doesn't I'm gonna keep it for yet another year.

I am staying with the 5 because i have a year left on contract. Here are my reasons to hold for the iPhone 6:

(a) Larger screen and resolution to support full HD playback
(b) Greater storage 128gb
(c) The new Wifi protocol to AC (Even though i do not need it)
(d) Greater megapixels in camera
(e) NFC
(f) New Design better volume buttons like the mini, ipad 5 and iphone 5c (for it me thats of importance theres no point canning out 1,200.00 aussie dollars for a phone that looks and feels like the 5.
(g) New A8 processor (maybe not as big as this years update but its still a bump up and do not forget the memory bump)
(e) The 64bit processor and finger sensor are still in their infancy (only one game supports 64bit atm and that is infinite blade 3) whilst the finger sensor is only limited to apple and not to 3rd party developers atm .
(f) I am sure ios7 will run great on the iPhone 5 come wednesday.
(g) I will be getting a iPad 5 which will have the A7 processor so i can use that for gaming

a) We do not know for sure that the new iPhone will have a bigger screen.
b) Do you really need that much?
c) 802.11ac on a smartphone is an overkill
d) That might happen
e) No way it's happening
f) A new design is definitely coming and is for me a valid reason to wait :)
g) The A6 is very fast, the A7 supposedly twice as fast. iOS 7 flies on my iPhone with the A6 processor, so when the A8 comes out, it will be even faster, but is that really a reason to wait?

Bought the 5 unlocked on launch. Was with Verizon at the time. Switched to T-Mobile to save some cash. So I'll be sitting out this upgrade for the first time. iOS 7 runs great and I don't even use the pass code lock as is.

Only downer is that I can only get 4G on T-Mobile's network, no LTE. But their 4G is just as fast as Verizon's LTE in my area, so it's a wash.

Camera is the most important function for me (besides email and SMS). I'll probably upgrade from 5 to 5S for that reason. The camera improvements are ginormous. :D

I'm confused on what you mean by ginormous ??? They increased iit by a few specs above the 5 to increase lowlight added an led and another lense for small margin of sharpness I mean it's a good improvement yes but "ginormous " not seeing it

Again nothing ginormous it is a improvement yes a good improvement but nothing to cast margin you are saying over the 5 read the review by Rene Ritchie at imore. He puts the breakdown in perfect understanding. Please don't get me wrong by thinking I'm saying it not better or the same as the 5 I'm saying its not ginormous that's all just a good upgrade ftom the 5

The reason you're not seeing it is that you've dismissed the improvements without seeing any comparison tests. Maybe its a good improvement, maybe the improvements are significant, but its foolish to dismiss it without factual evidence.

Wait what ?? I never said there wasn't improvements or dismissed them ! Or it wasn't better. I simply said that using "ginormous " is pushing it. So please don't try to educate me, seeing as nothing was used in false context. Also by reading articles of people who have used it with their hands on, so far as they stated " it's a "good" improvement over the the last generation".NOT GINORMOUS :)

Show me the reviews where they used the camera for a variety of photos under different lighting conditions, including low light/no flash images. Where are the people who tried to capture different kinds of action under different lighting conditions as a way to judge how good the burst mode is? Until that happens I don't trust the people who used it.

Now ginormous is a lot of hyperbole, but its impossible to say how much until there are detailed reviews.

That being said, if the 5S' camera significantly improves the kinds of photos or video you take, then the upgrades are ginormous in a way that they wouldn't be for someone else. Some examples, I never have the flahs on because I don't like its effect, if the no-flash low light is significantly improved, or the dual color flash lives up to the hype then that is a ginormous upgrade for me. And I don't take a lot of video, but the slow-mo improvements are a ginormous upgrade for people who really want that.

It really depends on you, but If I were you I'll keep my iphone 5 with apple care, be happy with ios 7 and wait for the 6 gen iphone :)

Just bought a used 64GB iPhone 5 from CL (for $450!) and upgrading from a 4S. I see no reason to get the 5S and waste a 2 year contract. I cannot wait until I get on the major release cycle with the 6.

The 5 is a screamer and the jump from 4S to 5 is incredible. I don't see why anyone would make the jump from 5 to 5S, it possibly can't feel half as good as going from a 3G to a 4 or 4S to a 5. Going from a 4S to a 5S is much more understandable.

What about the following?

Per another thread, that GameStop deal is really attractive. I am thinking of trading in my current 16 GB iPhone 5 (has AC+ on it til Oct 2014..I am using 11 GB of space with hardly any photos or videos on it at the moment) and taking the $427 trade-in value. If I use that towards getting an Xbox One, I get an extra 30% so $555 for the $500 system (assuming leftover $55 on GS GC).

I would then buy a 32 GB 5S for the $299 and SquareTrade coverage for $89. With tax and the AT&T upgrade fee, it would cost me about $446. But I would be losing my upgrade eligibility until 2015 vs 2014.

So my decision is...
A.) Keep the 16 GB iPhone 5 for another year and hope for a much improved/larger iPhone 6. Not terrible to keep since I have AC+.

B.) Spend $446 and and trade in the 16 GB iPhone 5, but get a 32 GB iPhone 5S and an Xbox One and $55 GS GC. Would have the newer phone, warranty for 2 years, and the game system for my kids.

in my opinion this was the worst iphone release of all time. Even worse than the 3g.

It literally brought NOTHING to the table.

A7 chip, big deal the iphone 5 is incredibly fast as it is. The A7 might help with infinity blade three but thats because apple made infinity blade three to run faster on the iphone 5s with a 64bit cpu.

On top of which the a7 is completely unnecessary. You dont need an iphone that fast because you arnet doing much on it.

Oh and then they brought out the finger scanner. Ok youll use it once but then youll figure out that because of icloud and sharing an itunes account youll either have only one person who can purchase itunes or everyone in your family having access to all of your passwords.

Also its sort of like bringing a feature samsung has had for years.

There is also no NFC so well have to wait for the 6 for a mobile wallet, and of course the iphone 5C

oh wait i meant the iPhone 5Cheap or iphone 5Crap.

they also didnt upgrade the battery like everyone has been begging for or upgrade the crappyu retina display to even a 2012 standard of 720p.

Not to mention the camera is exactly the same. Oh and wait the fanboys are going to say no its 15% better!

Guess what no one cares.

Oh and before you say im an apple hater Im also an apple fanboy and a tech enthusiast. My first iphone was the 4s and then I had to upgrade to the 5.

But guess what im keeping my 5 on this one.

Very dissapointed apple

Think you are a little harsh and not sure everything you write is correct.

The camera is now of equivalent quality than the readily available digital cameras. Hence reducing handbag load from 2 to 1 device.

The fingerprint is actually a great feature for elderly people - no offense. But my mother has never changed her password since years and has it written down. Fingerprint a no-brainer here.

The M chip has great potential, we just don't know what havoc this newborn baby can bring.

64 bits - yeah - apple please stop promoting more power like MS/Dell/etc do. Just put the chip in and tell me more about the fun a normal human can have with this power.

Well, I couldn't help myself and got a space gray 32gb. Restoring now.

Now just have to decide the best choice for selling or trading my 16gb iPhone 5.

I originally thought I'd keep my white i5, but $325 from Gazelle encouraged me to go to the 5s. Got a 16gb space grey. Fingerprint sensor has been very convenient! The extra battery life is nice too. Not to mention, there's no better color. Glad I upgraded.

I love my 5s, but if I hadn't have sold my 5 early I wouldn't have upgraded.

I wasn't going to upgrade, but (on a whim) with iPhone 5 trade in I got it for free with a contract. That's great, and I have a few phones on my plan (with people that almost never get new phones), so I can pretty much always upgrade with every new phone.

A few things.

First, the camera isnt any better. It got a better flash and a slightly larger aperture. I dont use flash anyways because no matter what the pictures are washed out.

Look the fingerprint scanner is nice but it isnt useful. IT can only be used for three tasks. Unlocking your phone, purchasing apps, and purchasing music.

The scanner is slightly useful, but still isnt exactly the most effective feature.

Oh and the m7 co processor is bs. There is no m7 co processor. the M stands for magic. IT is a combination of different motion reading devices, that other phones have had for a while. There is no chip, and it is impossible to find on the phone.

Oh and the 64 bit thing is non-sense. The reason why you don't know the reasons it helps you is because it doesn't. Most apps on windows and macs today still are not 64 bit optimized. Also, the phone is plenty fast enough, and tests show no real differences.
