I'm running Portal on its highest settings, except for Anti Aliasing and Filtering which I set to something in the middle.
I get an average framerate of 60. This drops to 30 when looking through a portal. It's acceptable, but not even close to the performance I get in Bootcamp. The rooms I played weren't very big and complex yet, so I'm a bit worried for when I'm getting further in the game.
I expected this, though. Not only because I've heard it from testers. I've been playing Tell Tale Game's Monkey Island and Sam & Max games on the Mac as well (without Steam) and they also perform better on the PC.
I hope Apple will work on improved drivers and a more recent implementation of OpenGL 3 for its "Most Advanced OS". Microsoft is much further ahead in its OpenGL support, while most of the Windows games don't even require it. (Oh the irony!)
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied, though.
