No kidding. :) While an impact could either be positive/negative his was definitely a positive impact.

Most certainly, Steve Irwin left a positive impact during his lifetime and he will be missed. :( :)

Seeing as how the footage was seized by the police, I rather doubt it's out there... but if it is, I'd encourage people not to watch it. It would be like watching a snuff film.

you are correct... it has been stated by his crew that the entire episode was caught on film... even steve himself pulling the SR barb out of his own chest before dying. His wife has commented that she would like people to see the video but police are not sure if they will release the video to anyone yet, as it was confisgated as evidence.

Bull. What does his friend know. Honestly. This doesn't educate anyone, and it doesn't exactly leave any positive effect on anyone who watches it. A "scare video" that shows a freak accident involving a mostly harmless animal stabbing a man in the chest isn't going to educate, only scare people and make people think a differently about manta rays, and not "different" in a good way. Steve loved animals, and I doubt he'd want to leave that impression on people when the animal he'd be villifying is mostly harmless.

Maybe he wanted people to know that animals can be dangerous even if you on of the best animal handlers in the world. Also seeing who Steve showed himself risking his life so many times, I see it as something that he might have wanted(of course I don't know him terrible well, only what the media showed, so his friends and family would hava better idea)

Edit-From CNNN "Irwin's manager and close friend John Stainton told CNN's Larry King he would not want the tape released." "It should be destroyed," he said Tuesday. I hope this doesn't become a problem inside Steve's friends and family, the last thing they need is a fight going on. I'm sure none would be angry at them what ever they do with the tape

I agree. While a lot of famous poeple get a ton of press when they pass away, it seems the ones who have a real impact only get a little. I am sad to hear he is no longer with us. He will be missed.

All this talk about what Steve would have wanted bothers me a little. We all know that there was always a chance that something would go wrong while filming - and I'm sure he did too. Even if it took parodies making fun of him with him being eated by a croc or Terri pointing it out - he wasn't going to escape the reality of the possability. So, he must have discussed what he would have liked to have happen with the video. At the least, I imagine that either Terri knows or he wrote down his wishes somewhere.

I just don't think that people venturing opinions on what "Steve would have wanted" is fair - I really think Terri knows and is struggling enough with that, without hearing from every associate of the man.

I can't find a link anywhere, but I just saw a report on the news about 100 stingrays that have been found dead on a beach, with their tails cut off.

Some people just make me sick.

Fark it I bloody knew that would happen!! Makes me so mad when a bunch of ********s go all stupid.

So typical of a certain contingent of our society down here, something happens that's nobody's fault and a bunch of silverback gorillas go ballistic on the poor animals that were only doing what they were born to do.

It really just makes my blood boil.

Mostly harmless? IT KILLED HIM! Wild animals that are harmless...

- Sting rays (if stinger removed)
- Tarantulas (if fangs and poison removed)
- Bees (if stinger removed)
- Snakes (if fangs and venom removed)
- Cats (if claws removed)
- Sharks (if teeth removed)

So basically all animals are dangerous. For every animal that kills someone says its a freak accident and the animals are not dangerous.

I am from the Beach originally. Grew up in Florida. Surfed alot. Every time someone got bit by a shark the news would put an expert on tv saying sharks are not dangerous. Reminded me of the mayor from JAWS. Don't want to scare away the torrism.

Steve knew the risks, I frankly can't believe he has survived this long. Man was a tank. He will be missed though. May he rest in peace. As far as the video is concerned. It will eventually end up on Ogrish.com but I won't watch it. It will be too horrible.

Dude, the last time a stingray killed someone in australia was 1947. There have been under 20 deaths by stingray in recorded history. I would guess more people have died in history from kitten attacks than from stingray attacks.

Well that would make kittens dangerous. Question? Would you go swimming with Stingrays now? I won't because they are dangerous. YOu see they got these poisonous barbs on their tales like scorpions.

Sorry, but I'm not really understanding what your point is.

Any animal that a person interacts with can be dangerous. They are animals, not humans, who function and act on the basis of their natural instinct. So yes, stingrays are dangerous, but the point being made was that they are generally harmless, which is proven by the very few deaths/injuries caused by them.

Yeah. Poor Steve. I say to everyone why don't you just get over it? Sounds mean but I don't think so. Yea sure he was famous in a way and known in places over the world. A lot of people are upset over it but most of them never knew him! Sure I've seen him at Australia Zoo but I didn't cry. I only care about hsi death as much as I do for all the other people that die everyday in the world. I hope that makes sense?

Is that kind of like when the space shuttle blew up the world morned except a few people that said

"so what? How about the airline pilots that die every year in plane crashes. Not to mention the passengers."?

Well sort of but not really. I just don't see why I should make such a big thing over someone's death that I don't even know. Sure I feel sorry for him. Don't get me wrong there. I just don't feel anymore sorry for him and his family after his death than say a person I've never met. I'm not insensitive or uncaring. I just don't see why it's a big deal. I wouldn't sympathize anymore about his death than anyone else I never knew personally.

Would I swim with Stingrays? Of course I bloody would. They're no more deadly now than they were on any of the other occasions I swam with them and didn't get stung.

Living on the surface of the planet is dangerous. YOu see they got these rocks that fall from the sky

Yea I would be:p But thats different. Nah I think I'll give up. Everythime I try and tell people that I always get into trouble. Anyways back to life A.K.A Maths and Physics work *yawn* exams this week.

No, I understand where you're coming from. You're not begrudging his many fans the right to mourn but you're not going to go up there especially to pay your respects. Makes perfect sense to me.

Exactly what I mean. Did you ever go and see him by the way? I did about 4 years ago. Australia Zoo is so awesome!

Nup, only been to QLD twice, both times before he was famous, don't think the zoo was even the zoo last time I was there.

Thats a pity really. That must have been ages ago. You live in NSW? I've only been there once and that was 10 weeks ago. Go me and my travelling throughout Australia.

Yeah, it was ages ago. Maybe the zoo was the zoo but it wasn't famous or anything. Malcolm Douglas was "The Crocodile guy" back then. I'm in the same boat as far as domestic travel, lived and travelled all over the world but I've seen bugger all of Australia.

Meh. Me neither. Only been here for 5 years. Love where I am. Only 16 so it's not as if I have a huge travelling oppertunity. I wanted to go to Perth to see the international stunt plane competition but it costs around 600 bux just to get there and back and I can go overseas for that much. Ohwell. I've still got my life to look around Aussie
