I don't believe this "problem" is anywhere near as big as people are making it sound.

I couldn't agree...less. This is widespread. My roomie and I both have the issue, as do 3 of my friends. It's totally an Apple issue, and they need to correct this situation. If giving away s-hit loads of Bumpers will make this go away, then they need to step that up. Otherwise, Apple will see a class action suit, a la their scratched iPods a few years back, which they settled out of court. I got a check from that from Apple.

Giving away Bumpers, if it corrects the issue, is the right thing to do. It would go miles for Apple in PR, and cost the company a lot less in the long run...instead of taking the heat in the press, as they are now. How much does a Bumper cost Apple, anyway? .07 maybe? C'mon Steve...come correct here!

NBC Nightly News is just now covering the iPhone 4 and all it's problems.

Mr. Jobs.....better get this s*** fixed before it get's worse.

Props for MacRumors making it on the news too! :)

Bad PR? Definitely.

Stops people from buying one? Hell no.

Are you kidding? Who wants a phone/mobile internet device that you can't hold in your hand without significantly reducing the signal quality/3g speed? I would have bought one if not for this ridiculous form over function tradeoff that Apple was happy to make.

I had my 3GS in one hand and the iPhone 4 another today at an Apple Store and i could barely load sites on the iPhone 4 because I had no bars of 3G after it was in my hand for 30 seconds. The 3GS was entirely unaffected by my hand and loaded sites without issue.

This coming from someone who stood in line for 8 hours for the original iPhone and also purchased the 3G and 3GS on launch day.
