Anybody have an idea what time this Will be available on kindle tomorrow? I have a 6am flight and would like to read it on the plane.

Here in Australia, the book is now available. So I downloaded the sample in iBooks to read on my iPad 2.

There appear to be many glitches in the layout. The list of characters, for example, has a lot of lettering double-ups and such.

Anyone else had the same issues? I'll probably buy the ebook but it would be a pity if there was this problem throughout the rest of the book.

Whatever the case, this book will make for a great read.

I'm having the same case. I pre-ordered it and downloaded it and now some of the photos are half loaded. Very annoying, hope they fix it!

That statement to Sculley is surprising. I wonder how much more SJ would have been able to accomplish if he had continued leading Apple instead of getting forced out and going on the NeXT path.

Without NeXT, we may never see OS X... OS X is the key to apple's success today.

If anyone sees their Amazon pre-order changed from status "Not yet Shipped" to "prepared to ship" or "shipped", could you post it here along with what type of shipping you chose? Just trying to get an idea about when they start shipping. Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

The iPod is the key to Apples success. People didn't flock to Apple for OS X.

- Jobs described Microsoft as "mostly irrelevant" due to being run by salespeople. He didn't believe Microsoft would change as long as Steve Ballmer was in charge. - NYTimes

This becomes more true with each passing month.

I actually feel enthusiastic about this whole textbooks idea. I work as a researcher so my relationship with textbooks will continue all my life. I look forward to new ways we are going to acquire and read textbooks. Hope Jobs wasn't simply referring to elementary level stuff.

I plan on being at Barnes and nobles doors at open tomorrow morning. Can't wait to read this bad boy.

Mine says "Dispatching Soon" with a dispatch estimate of 25 October. This is Amazon UK and free super saver delivery.

Definitely looking forward to reading this. I hope there is a lot of insight into Jobs and his thinking that wasn't previously available and not just a really well done summary of what we know. It seems from the quotes coming out that there is some new stuff like his going after Android, but some is also a rehashing like his views on Microsoft and Bill Gates, which are very well documented.

I had this in my hand on Wednesday this last week at my local Walmart. I tried so hard to leave the store with it but the computer would not let me buy it. I didn't think they were this strict on book sales. I've never bought a book on release day. I just get it after I hear good reviews.

I hope my Amazon preorder shows up tomorrow even though I didn't choose overnight or two day shipping...

im heading to walmart early this morning before traveling on road for work.. hopefully walmart will have this stocked by 5am...

that sucks that you couldnt get a copy of your own

I've pre-ordered the Kindle version (to read), and the hard copy (for posterity).

Can't wait.

Does anybody in Australia know if the book became available at the stroke of midnight or later in the day? I think it's 8:15 am or so in Sydney now and people down there seem to be able to download it so I'm just wondering when they were first able to download it.

This is going to be a fascinating read. Tonight's 60 Minutes also features an interview with the author. I have an iBooks version pre-ordered, as well as a hard copy.

If Steve Jobs had not left Apple he would not have started NeXT. Without NeXT there would be no OS X. Apple may have been forced to stick with OS9 that had many problems. One can predict what would have happened, but if Steve had stayed at Apple, Apple to day would be quite different.
Exactly.

In a way, the real Apple died in 1985 when Jobs got ousted. The new Apple is NeXT reincarnated with Jony Ive taking design to another level. Even Scott Forstall came from NeXT.

I'm going to remind my mom to get this book tomorrow since she wanted it to purchase it ever since SJ had passed on. Steve was such an interesting guy and polarizing figure.

Ever since I saw Pirates Of Sillicon Valley a couple months ago, I have always been intrigued with his life since Noah Wyle gave him such a charismatic performance. On one hand, I probably would sometimes hate working FOR him. On the other hand, SJ would have molded me into a better employee and take my talents to levels I didn't think was possible. A great visionary. I think SJ took previous ideas and IMPROVED upon them. But some of his underrated accomplishments had to with his foresight of buying Pixar in the mid-1980's and having a NeXT Computer creating the first web browser and server.

I am very curious what he says when Apple fired him in 1985. I think that hurt him more on a personal level than anything his competition like Microsoft or Google ever did to him. Imagine having a company who you helped started fire you? You can even see before he returned to Apple the type of constructive criticism he gave them.
