Sounds like she has a sense of humour

Well, if it were based even slightly in reality, it would've been funny. But when a phone has multiple new and upgraded features, the joke falls flat (except for the crowd that will criticize Apple no matter what they do or release - this is just red meat for them and of course they will think it's funny because it fits in their echo chamber).

I disagree completely. 14 Pro is huge. I’m the type that keeps a phone 3 to 4 years and hates wasting money by upgrading. But I’m seriously considering going from 13 Pro to 14 Pro.

Satellite is massive for me. Dynamic Island and always on screen would be welcomed.

I tell myself I am bored of the iPhone and that the new model is the same, but then I ask myself - What would I want in a redesigned phone besides better battery life and USB C...I don't know.

What do you guys think?

This is basically what happened, but then inflation brought it back to $799. 🤣
yes, but not over 1 gen :)
Here...they keep the prices just for the pro models , but the 14 line up is more expensive because its basically an iphone 13 in, soon to enter 2023 year

She's not wrong. I'm sure if she had a few drinks she'd open up about how disgusted she is with Apple's capital-driven leadership. That was the difference between Steve and Tim - Steve was a visionary who didn't do it for the money. Tim is 100% about his net worth, nothing else. Steve might have been temperamental and hard to work with, but he was a better person, plain and simple.

here again, we are talking about iphone 13 vs iphone 14, read the article ...not the pro models that are indeed a good upgrade while keeping their prices

Yes...like i said, you are correct...but the prices were different...so this is the first time that happens
They’ve done it in the iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac lines before, it’s nothing new, and anyone who is paying attention expected this.
Also, it technically did get a GPU upgrade, using the five core version from the 13 Pro series instead of the four core version from the standard 13, so it’s not like they didn’t change anything.

Sorry skipped ahead.

But since it’s for the regular non-pro version, who cares? Really. Anyone that wants the best and latest features is buying Pro. Yes, it had to be said.

From the iPhone 13, sure... But tons of people would be upgrading from earlier models. While quite a few people do upgrade yearly, I suspect far more skip a year, or two, between upgrades. Making it a nice bump, even if you don't want to spring for the Pro.

Year to year upgrades are almost always a bit lackluster, except for the occasional surprise.
Yup. I don't recall iPhones making huge jumps in features during Job's time. Well, except for "unique" antenna designs requiring phone holding lessons. And wasn't it Steve who insisted on keeping the iPhone small? As amazing a visionary as Steve was, he stubbornly managed a few blunders along the way.

Yes in one generation. Inflation is nearly 10%, so that $1199 Pro Max 256 I buy should really cost $1299. The phones got cheaper this year. Kind of angers me as a shareholder, but I suppose if it grows the installed base and thus the services revenue, I can live with Apple absorbing the increased costs.

this is the feeling...iphone 14 should start $699 since its an 90% iphone 13 and discontinue the 13
Its first time that Apple dont upgrade SoC with a brand new one
Whats next? Apple will change only the colours and ask the same starting price as the last gen ?!
Careful how you vote the future with your wallets
Precisely right the majority will vote with their wallets and that is how Apple basically counts the votes. If the iPhone 14 and 14 Max does well then the votes are in and that the majority (this is assuming the the masses typically go for the regular model) is fine with it.

Steve was a visionary who didn't do it for the money.
bouhahahahahahahahahaha what?
You realize that there are dozens and dozens and dozens of stories of Steve trying to find ways to charge more for less?
Or all of the shady dealings with his stock manipulations to get himself more money?
To even have the thought that Steve Jobs didn’t care about money is absolutely ridiculous.
Yes, he was a visionary, and his management style is a lot different than Tim’s, but he cared about money, a lot, and he cared about Apple being viewed as a luxurious company.

Satellite connectivity anyone? Crash detection? Brighter display? Always on display? Bluetooth LE? Those are just a few things that this article fails to include in addition to the amazing camera upgrades and the dynamic island ingenuity.

Some of those are on the Pro model only.

As for the "non-Pro" 14 models, the fact that it's still packing the A15 shows just how good that processor is! Seriously, why replace something after just one year when it still has tons of mileage in it? That's "first world" wastefulness.

The 14 is an upgrade, packed with more value... at the same price!

After they all bought some more stock :)
