Software fix = update to make the bars apear even if there is no signal... than point the blame at AT&T and away from the iPhone :p

Well, it will be pretty easy to tell if it fixed the problem, or just masks it. When I put my finger over the gap and the signal fades, I can't load any data or anything. As soon as I take my finger off, it almost instantly starts loading will be real easy to test.

Explain to me how anyone has done proper troubleshooting/testing of this issue to actually know what the problem is.

I dunno... but as the post linked in my sig notes:

I touch it with a fingertip, it dies.

I let it go, it lives.

What else could someone actually do?

You touch part of the antenna and it affects the signal of your phone. There are numerous youtube videos testing/proving this. When you touch the antenna you are in no way interacting with any software, so explain to me how this could be a software issue.

Hmm I don't think Apple could release a "fake fix" and get away with it at this point.

I'll be interested to see what happens.

And it might be about how the phone changes bands when the antenna is compromised...possibly a software fix

That is not troubleshooting, that is showing us a symptom. You have no idea what causes that to happen, and it could be any number of things or combination of things.

That is the problem with all of this, like I said, most people suck at troubleshooting and problem solving. Your post is a good a testimony to that.

the world is a lot more complex than that. Sure sometimes it can be the simple thing, but often times it is not and many other factors are at play.

It is like going to your doctor with a headache and telling him you have a brain tumor. Lots of things could be causing your headache, yet every turn you sit up, your head hurts. You have not proven you have a brain tumor.

Do you have some other interpretation?

"I am an ******* and refuse to admit there is a reception problem with the iPhone 4. Since I don't really know what our magical fix is going to be I am just going to tell you to stay tuned until we figure it out!

Thanks, Steve"

bad batch

maybe he means there are no signal issues because its a bad batch? they might release a statement on some manufacturing [problem] that they discovered.

edit: []

Yeah, unless they think we're totally retarded, a fake fix
won't work. It's not like your magically not gonna drop calls because you think you have a full signal. If they do in fact release an update to fix the issue, I hope a proximity sensor fix will be included.

Given that more than 50% of people in the poll on this very forum say they are having problems.... Steve is lying.

There ARE reception issues.

Now - he may be able to fix them through software in some way (which I find hard to believe) but currently there ARE reception issues for MANY owners of iP4's.

It doesn't seem like a bad "batch." It seems like over a million (and most likely more) are bad. That's a big batch!

Over a million? I haven't seen a million people vote that their phones are broken. Only 1.5 million have sold.

Steve is right.

"There is no reception issue" means "There is no (hardware) reception issue".
"Stay tuned" means "We will fix (software) reception issues".

iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0 has the same issue.

I don't have any issue on my 3GS and I'm left-handed.

As above, I want to see the proof in my left hand!

I been doing a lot of research on this guy lately. Between all the Nokia Patent Thefts, Lies, Bad Attitude with Loyal Customers and Deceptive business practices with At&t, Apple is losing it.

"Posted by Discourse
Apple thought they were being smart in bypassing Nokia patented cellphone antennae technology that they are currently being sued for but Nokia already patented this body antennae in 2001. They released a phone with the same problem in 2002 and have of course learnt from it. Apple in its stubborn refusal to pay Nokia royalties is freaking up badly!"

You haven't proven you're making any sense, either.

The only point that matters is: my phone should not do that when I touch it with a fingertip. No other cell phone on the market today does it except the iPhone 4 so...

good to know

something being done to the signal problems ...

Apple will be very careful when they design next iPhone 5.

awesome phone, love everything about it...

I'm looking forward to seeing Steve Jobs, having finally received the four millionth whiny customer email that broke the camels back, issue a public address consisting of a ten minute screaming tirade followed by one or two really crude gestures, and a good stomping off into island retirement.
