lots of distortion
The topic of Steve Jobs' health has become a hot topic amongst blogs and newspapers over the past few weeks. In 2004, Steve Jobs underwent surgery for a rare and curable form of pancreatic cancer. Jobs was reportedly cured of the disease.
From what I recall reading, Mr. Jobs had surgery for an Islet Cell tumor located in his Pancreas.
That is an endocrinological based tumor. Causes GI symptoms but it is NOT what we commonly think of as pancreatic cancer.
Islet Cell tumors often are part of an endocrinological syndrome (MEN) which can cause recurrent symptoms over years' time ... OR may not.
This is very different picture than "Pancreatic Cancer"
IF what was reported at the time Mr. Jobs was ill was correct, his tumor,is not the pancreatic cancer which we all rightly should fear.
Adenoc Ca of the Pancreas is a serious and highly lethal disease which progresses rapidly.
OF course we are concerned about Steve Jobs because Apple is Apple largely because of who he is.
Yet the media needs to be more responsible to accurately report medical or other specialized information
