Which would you prefer? Screencaps from Mail.app or from my iPhone?
Wrong. sjobs@apple.com - I've received a reply from him in the past.
I wish you had said iPhone, that took forever! I wanted to remove my personal info so I took the cap into PS and mosiac'd a bunch of stuff. Anyway, here you go:Screen caps from mail![]()
...Or he must have ordered the replacement of every Leopard Server at Apple HQ that was dealing with mail delivery and replaced them with Exchange servers to get Push working....Check out that response time! He replied to my first email just two minutes after I sent it! He must've had his iPhone in his hand right when my mail arrived ...
I used to think so too, but after today's exchange, I'm not so sure. I mean, why would a 'low-level help desk person' send a reply from an iPhone (it was sent from an iPhone, according to the headers) at 7pm on a Wednesday night with a sig that says "Steve - Sent from my iPhone" just two minutes after receiving my inquiry? Obviously this "Steve Jobs" person has their work email set up on their iPhone and just happened to get my email as he was holding/looking at the phone. I don't think a staffer would've replied in two minutes, from their iPhone, at that time of day.And you people do realize its not him replying to these emails but rather either an administrative assistant or some low-level help desk person right?
You know, it's funny - look at the build date from the header:...Or he must have ordered the replacement of every Leopard Server at Apple HQ that was dealing with mail delivery and replaced them with Exchange servers to get Push working.![]()
The email server could easily sort the email and send forward it to a team of people. That way someone is always available to answer. I can't imagine Jobs wanting to receive all that email. I'm sure people send thousands (if not more) messages to it a day, most of it of which is probably utter crap.I mean, why would a 'low-level help desk person' send a reply from an iPhone (it was sent from an iPhone, according to the headers) at 7pm on a Wednesday night with a sig that says "Steve - Sent from my iPhone" just two minutes after receiving my inquiry? Hey, I could be wrong. But I don't think so.![]()
Well, the problem seems to affect Windows users as much as Mac users - the one thing most have in common is that we have a large number of apps installed. If I have no apps installed, backups take about 30 seconds. The more apps I add, the longer they become - with 50 installed, they take about an hour, hour and a half - which in my opinion is unacceptable. But it's easy enough to disable backups - my problem is that the phone locks up (just Google 'apple logo of death') and usually has to be restored, which is a three-four hour process, due to the excruciatingly slow app installation process.
Whatever. I'm glad to see they're aware of the problem and will fix it soon!

As much as we all like to think our problem is of the utmost importance, I'm sure Jobs doesn't have the time to worry about a particular individual's problems. If he does, then as a stock holder I'm a little pissed because I'm sure there are better things he could be doing with his time.
You may be right. But whoever responded to me did it from their iPhone within two minutes of receiving my email, and their name is Steve. That's pretty cool, AFAIC.The email server could easily sort the email and send forward it to a team of people. That way someone is always available to answer. +1 Clearly the case. Anyone who believes that Jobs personally gets thousands of emails from users, must also believe that Santa reads their letters.
If he did, there would've been a multiple email delete feature on the iPhone from the start!
Still... it's always possible that his assistants forward him a few each day.
And replies from their iPhone at 9pm at night?I'm sure everyone who responds from that email address signs it Steve.
I wish people would quit replying with this stupid-*** shallow response. People are going to be dissatisfied with a product in one way or another. Just because they say they don't like something doesn't mean they should just drop it and move on. There's obviously fixes on the way. And if somebody's having more trouble than the majority, they have a reason to complain. Where else are they supposed to go for support??

Dissatisfied is one thing...but the OP didn't say that he did anything to remedy the problem other than restoring it 40x+ for 3 weeks. Can't he have just at least exchanged it once, say after the 14th restore?
As where to go for support...did he even try an Apple Store? How about Apple Tech Support? Seems like his first attempt at obtaining support after 3 weeks is to go straight to the CEO of the company. That should fix it quick.

Excuse me, but who said anything about jailbreaking???
Cool.I emailed Steve jobs today to request compensation for the time I've wasted restoring my iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 40 times since July 11th due to Apple's buggy software. To my surprise, he emailed me back not once but twice - the first email, just two minutes after I sent my message - but both times from his iPhone
Why do you assume this?40 restores? im going to go out on a limb here and say its at least partially your fault
When did he say he jailbreaked his iPhone?Seems kind of ballsy to jailbreak and then demand compensation for your problems.
So wanting your cell phone to work is considered lofty expectations?you could return or sell the phone if it isnt meeting your lofty expectations
You don't need to explain. My "lofty expectations?"
Yes, it is.Anyway, it's nice to know Apple is aware of this (somewhat widespread) issue and will fix it soon!
What, like expecting it to work?
Yep. Have a 32GB Touch.Well, the problem seems to affect Windows users as much as Mac users - the one thing most have in common is that we have a large number of apps installed. Could be. We don't know for sure. And you people do realize its not him replying to these emails but rather either an administrative assistant or some low-level help desk person right?
See above.Well I have 20 apps installed and I still can't see why there would be a such a dramatic increase in back-up time from 2 minutes to over an hour. How much memory space is left on your phone?
I am in the process of doing this with my apps.I know this is not a long term solution but wouldn't the prudent thing be to maybe limit the number of apps until they fix the "problem". Maybe you take Light Sabre off for a little while.![]()
Since you seem to be so familiar with my posting history, why not post a link to somewhere where I talked about jailbreaking my iPhone 3G? (Good luck with that!)you did. You have posted multiple times about jailbreaking. Are you saying that suddenly now that you are having problems you never did it? Right.
An assistant or service rep replied. No way it was from him, regardless of the email address used.
