P.S. I didn't use any of the e-mail addresses that have been listed here on MR. And no, I am not going to tell you what address I used either. :)

I would tend to believe you here: anyone who thinks that a managing director of a company will have as their personal email address initialsurname@company.com is a little gullible in my opinion!

there are over 3500 members viewing the forums as i type this, why is it so hard to believe that the CEO of a company (this "fan site" was bui

Because I can think of dozens of popular sites all telling people about their Steve Jobs personal e-mail replies.

I suspect that e-mail address gets 1000s of e-mails a day from customers, haters, and wanna-be customers and wanna-be haters.

It would not be practical nor feasible for Steve Jobs to manage that himself and still actually run Apple.

It is undoubtedly handled and managed by part of their customer service staff.

People need to get a reality check.

I once had an issue with Go Daddy. Which is NOWHERE near the size of Apple. They tout to send a message to Bob Parsons. Well I did, and i got a prompt response back from one of his "executive assistants". This person helped me with my situation and got it resolved. At no point and time did I think Mr. Parsons was in the loop on what was going on with me or getting updates, nor that he even knew I existed. Come on people. Even at a modest sized company that is technology related it is likely unfeasible for the CEO/President Front Person to manage an e-mail address like that on their own. The volume would simply be too great.

Does that mean the occasional message does not get passed on? Of course not.

One of the worst features of iPhone 2.0 was how mail was deleted. Maybe SJ had an assistant with a prosthetic finger that did nothing but push "delete" all day. If SJ had to do it his finger would be too sore to jab the chests of employees he is yelling at:rolleyes:

How else would you expect to delete multiple emails? Just by thinking about it?

So you stole it then. Good for you.

Deary me! No, it isn't possible to steal anything from the iTunes Store. If Apple are going to code bugs into their applications, then Apple need to expect to lose some money somewhere! Be it people abandoning MobileMe or people leaving the store without being asked to pay for something. It's hardly Mavis' fault.

I somehow doubt that if it had happened to you, you would have been straight on the phone to a call centre in India saying "please take my $10"! I would have loved to have heard that conversation.

P.S. Excellent post, Sowelu!

You obviously didn't read the old thread I linked to where Mavis cried about the update price for 10+ pages. The fact that he ended up getting the update for free means he either a) was completely full of crap and was going to pay anyway or b) used an underhanded method to get said update where he knew he wouldn't have to pay.

After sifting through the dredge of this painful thread, I'd like to make 2 observations:

1) Users of this forum (which by default means Apple fanatics) have turned into the Bill Gates/MS zombies that quite nerdily, blindly follow their leader and refuse to hear or discuss anything negative about the product line, no matter how true.

2) Many people with the iPod Touch did get the 2.0 update for free. Apple screwed up and for many hours when it was first released, syncing your device got the update for free. Of course, this was quickly corrected. This wasn't an underhanded method, as the above poster stated. This was (yet another) Apple mistake.

Apple is expanding it's market. This is to be expected.

It's funny how Microsoft gets bashed all the time, and I admit, I tend to bash them as well. Overall, Microsoft does a good job supporting corporate America. Can they do better. Sure.

Apple on the other hand Apple is just entering the enterprise market and is getting a bloody nose here and there. MobileMe definitely was not a good start. Apple is learning from their mistakes and will get better. Takes time unfortunately -- especially when they bit off such a big chunk of the pie.
