uhhhh .... excuse me .... please see above.... I already mentioned I'm waiting for HP's WebOs tablet .... what don't you understand about that?

:) and you call other people disingenuous?

obviously i reminded you of your right to choice of purchase before i had read your message that you've finally seen the light .

congratulations again, enjoy the tablet better suited to your needs, and have a nice evening!

And I have the right not to buy it .... I'll wait for HP WebOs tablet with Flash thank you very much.....

Have fun waiting.

And, once the wait is over, we expect you to man-up and post here that it sucks, if indeed it does suck, as Adobe's recent demo seems to indicate.

"The biggest lesson Apple has learned is price it aggressively and go for volume."

LOL right. Thats why my laptop was grossly overpriced at around $2000 with a student discount.

Oh steve, your so full of BS. The floppy drive and serial ports cannot be compared with flash. As its been said before, HTML5 can not do what flash does, flash isn't going away anytime soon, and only a fanboy would be so blind to so that.

And oh yea, didn't that guy who found the phone try to return it to Apple? and they blew him off? I think Apple got what it deserved, and they are getting a little to big for their britches.

who said anything about hate literature or speech (which btw, contrary to US law is not protected constitutionally in Canada - just an aside). My only issue is that Apple has greatly and egregiously expanded its gatekeeper/merchant role and that annoys me enormously. Their absolute right, no quibbles there, but it still annoys me. John Lennon would cringe at the thought that Steve Jobs was a big fan :)

I cringe at the thought too.. but only because John Lennon is over-rated.

He really owes Paul a lot.

What's so disingenuous about wanting to buy a product that caters FULLY to my needs .... Believe me I wanted to pay the "Apple tax" in a big way -- but the iPad in its current iteration doesn't cut it. Your mileage may vary :)

You have my word on that .... but I doubt I'd buy one if my hands on trial of the device didn't fully satisfy me....BTW Adobe's recent demo was of a Windows 7 Tablet not of WebOs which they haven't closed on yet....

I think he was referring to how Walt asked if Steve "felt betrayed," like Eric Schmidt was just wanting Steve Jobs for the sex. (Using Apple for the insider info on products.)

WHAT?! He was just avoiding the question. It's like saying none of your business. I.e. asking "what someone's sex life is like" is a personal question. Jobs was deflecting it, by saying something even more personal.

Another way of doing this is saying back to the questioner something like "do you masturbate in the shower? ever have erotic thoughts about person X?" Then: "exactly, none of my business is it?..."

HTH

The laptop has a strong presence in academics and in business. As of now, a laptop can be as powerful as a desktop. I think all else being equal, the laptop will always be more powerful than a tablet. For work type use I think it is irreplaceable.
Well, it is irreplaceable. But just look at the laptop use ten years ago and compare to this day - it got cheaper, more powerful, etc. It will be the same with tablets, they will push out a big part of the laptops.
why not give people CHOICE (that's a great concept isn't it?) - users would be able to disable the plug in if not satisfied with its performance or if system resources needed to be used efficaciously (i.e. extend battery life)....
There is choice, but i think you already agreed on that. There also are some other implications than just battery life.
well is Apple's platform (admittedly a gated community by any definition) a technological platform or a platform where the merchant (and that's what Apple is -- a middleman, a merchant in it for it's 30% cut) is going to be an arbiter of morals and taste?
This is wrong. For Apple to be the arbiter of morals and taste it must be the only shop out there. It isn't.
Whoever owns Flash is irrelevant right now... it's a de facto standard (ask Time and NBC). What should be paramount in this case, since the iPad is ALL ABOUT consuming content, is gaining access to that content ... any decision contrary to that, or impeding that, is BAD ... end of story... in 3 to 5 years it may be a different story ...
We are moving to HTML5 with or without Apple. They just took the decision for themselves. Also what's that big missing content? Games and some webpages in Flash? Big deal - and many people agree here. Also Flash itself is impeding Apple's control of the device.
Apple is not very easy to work with... if they would have been even moderately helpful you think Flash on the Mac would suck so badly? I hear they are now cooperating on fixing those issues (give Adobe access to hidden APIs) which is a GOOD THING;)
Did you work with them? Fixing what issues? What APIs? I guess you are talking about HW acceleration -Flash sucked on Mac even before that.
uhhhh .... excuse me .... please see above.... I already mentioned I'm waiting for HP's WebOs tablet .... what don't you understand about that?
Well, you bashed on Apple for not giving a choice, finally it appears you have a choice, and now you are hiding behind this choice and we can't argue your previous points?
"The biggest lesson Apple has learned is price it aggressively and go for volume."
LOL right. Thats why my laptop was grossly overpriced at around $2000 with a student discount.
So if you are so poor of a student why did you buy an overpriced computer?

Why not? It is exactly the same issue.

Apple deserved nothing for some employee losing a phone. Also you should really read the affidavit before writing nonsense.

Comparing suicide rates of a nation to that of a corporation is completely idiotic. Big fail on that one Stevo.
Be more precise on why it doesn't work. The people in this corporation are part of a nation.

Regarding the "it gets worse before it gets better" quote, that makes sense. In Vegas I used to get 1Mb/s down over 3G. Now it's 400kbpa. Hopefully it's just AT&T rearranging tower and such so when they bring things back up it's better.

What's wrong with giving a company you admire suggestions on how to improve their products? You seem to imply we should just bite our tongues and bow to the heathen God for we shall be forsaken if we dare even suggest that there could be a different path .... uhhh.....sorry I don't buy into that --- I seem to recall that's what Apple's 1984 Superbowl ad was all about ..... non conformity

My dear god Kara is useless.

She'd be more useful simply holding the water bottle for steve.

I agree. The few times she did speak up, Walt rode over her at mid-sentence so I couldn't tell if she was going to say something insipid or ask something stupid.

Walt needs to stop trying to be funny. His attempts at humor falls flat and flops around on the floor in agony.

Seriously how old are you? No amount of complaining and annoying people on this forum will change anything that Apple does.
Adobe owns flash if they want to get it on the iPhone they should have build a version that works 3 years ago.

Also have you noticed that almost all companies say "our magical product will be coming in 6 months and its going to change the world" only 6 month later there is no product. Like the promised HP Slate or the Lenovo U1 or whatever.

Talk is cheap and Apple is the only company that actually deliveries before mouthing off to the world.

Apple has a "first to market" advantage here... will it blow it as it did with PCs? I hope not, but only time will tell ... I don't want to belabor any point - but if you're going to make a device for content consumption don't cripple it - that's all .... Good night folks

What's wrong is that it's kibitzing. It's rarely helpful since it assumes you are also on to the great pool of additional inside information, or it assumes you are tuned into Apple's in-house strategy, or that you are 10 times smarter than you think you are. Since you're not any of those assumptions, a kibitzer just needs to **** and watch the parade go by.

don't be silly, i am calling you disingenuous for pretending to misread my posts, just as in this case

... but the iPad in its current iteration doesn't cut it. Your mileage may vary :)

i have no interest in an ipad, maybe in a few years when it's more capable.

LOL your "magical", enlightening and and insightful comments have certainly put all arguments to rest .... NOT.... go hide under a rock you peasant.

P.S.: Before you find that rock. I never once even remotely insinuated I had any inside info - how'd you pull that out of your a*s?

good heavens, you are a bitter, complaining and unfriendly person, aren't you?

but if you're going to make a device for content consumption don't cripple it - that's all ....

this, i presume is what you would describe as "giving a company you admire suggestions on how to improve their products" - right?

Who started the hostilities ... care to go back and read his comments? **** (do I have to spell out what that stands for?) I think I've been civil to others who've reciprocated.

Yes I'm saying that there's a time and place to ditch Flash.. and that time certainly isn't now..... HTML5 is far from being mature it is in fact at this time a joke....

Flash on a mobile device is far from being mature it is in fact at this time a joke... Your point?

Apple certainly had more than ample resources to make Flash work on its devices.... there are business reasons for not doing so...

Why is it Apple's job to write Adobe's software? What business reasons? They don't want free Flash apps competing with free native apps?

I will not be buying an iPad because I want the whole internet experience and the iPad certainly won't deliver on that front....

Not too long ago, Mozilla launched a new standards based browser. IE 5/6 were rife with vulnerabilities, bloated and stale. Most websites only worked in IE. We should have all stayed with IE for the full Internet experience, right?

once gain Steve was being disingenuous when Walt asked him what happens when you hit a hole when browsing (i.e. lack of flash)? Steve brushed it off responding that these were quickly being plugged (false) and that the majority were ads in any event (once gain false).....

Again I point to IE. When sites start seeing a lot of mobile safari hits, followed by a decrease in traffic, they will abandon Flash. Flash will never go away, it will still be used for games and such, much like shockwave. Flash for navigation, images and even text content will die off quickly. Guaranteed.

What's wrong with giving a company you admire suggestions on how to improve their products?
Absolutely nothing. But three things here:
1. You either just bash:
"Steve: We had a rule that said you can't defame other people."
great .... he became an arbiter of free speech and censor extraordinaire
2. Write nonsense:
well is Apple's platform (admittedly a gated community by any definition) a technological platform or a platform where the merchant (and that's what Apple is -- a middleman, a merchant in it for it's 30% cut) is going to be an arbiter of morals and taste?
(addressed in my previous comment)
Apple is first and foremost a SOFTWARE company
Apple is first and foremost a hardware company.

3.you finally seem to give a suggestion:
why not give people CHOICE (that's a great concept isn't it?) - users would be able to disable the plug in if not satisfied with its performance or if system resources needed to be used efficaciously (i.e. extend battery life)....
But it is done with sarcasm and without taking in account all the things Jobs is concerned about and all the other issues besides battery life.

Basically, for me, you are just hiding behind "I am giving suggestions" while just bashing.

You seem to imply we should just bite our tongues and bow to the heathen God for we shall be forsaken if we dare even suggest that there could be a different path ....
I don't know how it seems to you, but I am not implying that.

uhhh.....sorry I don't buy into that --- I seem to recall that's what Apple's 1984 Superbowl ad was all about ..... non conformity
Well they aren't conforming to the de facto standard for sure.

Who started the hostilities ... care to go back and read his comments? **** (do I have to spell out what that stands for?) I think I've been civil to others who've reciprocated.

calling SandynJosh a "peasant" is civil? interesting.

Adobe owns Flash and it is VERY relevant seeing as Flash is not an open standard. Apple could make a flash player that would be buggy as hell and crashes all the time seeing as enhancements past version 7 are closed.
