Why the hell would you buy a single pack for more than what Apple sells it for?
Because, like I said, according to the seller, it's the new version, not yet released to the public. He's got some kinda connexions at Apple. So I thought paying $65 more for something that no one else has yet would be worth it. It's nice to be the first one to start using something new. I'd come here and post pictures of new features. D'ya know whata mean?

OMG, there'd better be no kind of price-drop on MobileMe as I just bought a single pack from a guy on eBay for $165; according to him, it's a new version of MobileMe that no one else has yet.:mad:

Oh my... New version? Oh my...
:D

Want to give me $100 too? I'll talk to this guy at Apple that will turn on all sorts of secret super features in OSX on your Mac. It'll be like getting Lion on SL. And you'll be able to download the Mac App store from Apple's site before the end of December. Ok?

Yeah, it's cool to be a beta tester.

So Job's admits it's got problem....so where is the refund?

So basically Job's is saying, yeah I know it's got issues but we took your money anyway..however it's gonna get better.

We know he loves that Plateless Benz..so I wonder if worked just some of the time and Mercedes just blew off any problem he had he'd ok with that?

Anyone else see a nice class action lawsuit for essentially admitting it's a faulty product??

I love Apple, but ..... I've grown tired of the Jobsien sanctimonious, vague answers.

Yawn.

It was fun once, but now Apple is mainstream it's got old.

On the plus side it works for me and have 5 Apple devices all syncing..

MobileMe has been bullet-proof for me - I have never had any problems syncing with it. It has saved my bacon on more than one occasion and I consider it pricey but worth it. I'd just like to see:

(1) Automatic backing up of iTunes purchases to MobileMe
(2) Syncing of ToDo items in iCal and iPhone notes to stickies

last i checked, mobileme held 20GB's of my data you only mention 2.5gb for dropbox, seems i have 17.5 more gb than you

I currently have a MobileMe account, and still have to cling on to my Hotmail account because it is my Apple ID, and my tie to Xbox Live.

I pay for Hotmails premium service to allow me to forward emails, no adverts, and what for the time was the increased 25GB of space, although since then Microsoft have made that space available for free.

With Microsoft contemplating making Hotmail IMAP, Syncing between devices because of Windows Phone 7, I may jump back to them.

iDisk is wholly unreliable, I have my iDisk as a Networked Drive on my Windows 7 computer, and the upload speeds are cripplingly slow. 30 minutes to upload about 8MB on my 10MB/s connection. And the Windows Sync client from Apple that consumes 100% of my Processor power despite being a 2.8Ghz i7.

And those clamoring that Apple '..should just buy Dropbox', I see things like that thrown around a lot on here, 'Apple should just buy.....' is it just assumed that any company can look at another company and say 'Ill take it' You cannot buy what is not for sale.

Im not saying Hotmail and alternatives are better in every way, but I feel Apple is lagging behind in certain areas, and while I will probably continue to pay, I really dont feel that is it worth it sometimes.

the best thing i saw or read all morning!!! :D:D:D

Dropbox is far from useless. You have obviously never given it a try! It is not merely transferring files. It syncs those files on the cloud so it's available online, and also on other computers you have linked to Dropbox. So files are always up to date on all your computers, and on the iPhone/iPod touch!

ALSO, and this is a big feature imo... Dropbox keeps a backup of your files for 30 days. so if you delete a file by accident, or want to retrieve an older edit of a document, it's available for download. Now you still think MobileMe is all that?!

I'm sure comparing just DB with iDisk, then great, DB wins... big deal, but great if that's all you need. Paying for MM just for iDisk is just plain idiotic.

However, comparing the rest, it's apples and oranges. DB can't sync calendars, address book, etc. over multiple devices -- therefore it is useless to many.

It's 22 days until the end of the year. Looks like we getting December for free.

Since when is January 10th the end of the year?!

That screen shot was from a week ago, not today, where now it would be 22 (actually 23) days until the end of the year... it was saying 22 days free, because my subscription renewal date was the 18th of December, and it's 22 days between that date and January 10th, 2011 - the mystery date.

A new MobileMe that no-one has yet?
You've been had son.

Why? We all want better products but there is no reason for desperation. Look around to explore other ways of doing things. Don't rely on one company.

*Generally* speaking, and I do mean generally (I.e. i get that there are exceptions to every rule) the overall value proposition and experience should be superior in a well managed system for which a single party is entirely or mostly responsible.

For example, using google's services makes the most sense for an android user, even though there are of course alternatives. (FWIW I have tried google calendar and contacts, and found that they don't play as nicely with Apple's calendars and contacts as they should - wonky field transposition, first name/last name swaps, mislabeling phone numbers and emails, etc.).

Anyway, point is, if it all worked as it should, the best *and* easiest thing to do should be one and the same.

I think you might find there are vast numbers of us who fully understand what we are doing, have our systems correctly configured, have followed all the troubleshooting tips from Apple, have wiped all our data from MobileMe and re-synched, have spent many, many, many hours trying to fix it and still suffer from repeating duplicate calendar errors (usually 16 entries at a time), random old entries appearing, duplicate contacts that will not delete even when you wipe MobileMe and MobileMe constantly saying it needs you to overwrite it with the data from the computer - causing you to loose any new contacts on your phones - arggghhhhhh.

This. Exactly.

(oops sorry for back to back posts). Mods feel free to combine into one.)

You get 2.5gb with a free account.

For the same yearly price I pay for MobileMe I get 50gb at DropBox plus more every time I get someone to sign up.

iDisk is buggy and slow, DropBox works like a charm.

I won`t be renewing MobileMe this year.

My friend I think you got duped and I'm sorry for you that you fall that easily for anything people tell you on the web, especially on Ebay. This can't be real that you actually believed that?????? OMG..

Mobileme's features don't vary depending on the version you buy. You can buy the first version of Mobileme and it still works the same, it's just a code that you enter, it doesn't unlock special features.

As I said, that summertime Snowman offer is still open for grabs. Just let me know. ;)

Or maybe you got duped and he's a troll....

I am having a hard time believing some one really is *that* gullible (that gullible an so easily duped that he's freely admitting it on the net and has no clue how gullible he just let everyone know he is).

LOL Ouch. I feel the pain man. I definitely understand that frustration, I just spent the past week trying to figure out why my 6-Core Pro kept panicking when going into hibernation. I reinstalled OS X 10.6 so many times using Time Machine then without to no avail, only to learn it's a fault in my OCZ Sandforce SSD. Ah, technology, a love/hate relationship.

Thought so. But that didn't stop Niko03 from defending it though. Inability to think I guess - he would prefer they deleted it which automatically would mean that someone else can register the same email address and receive his mail.

No need to be rude.
You used the term "delete" first in reference to your old comcast service e-mail address not being deleted.

De-activate - Lock-down - whatever, as long as messages sent to my old e-mail address get returned undeliverable.

I don't want the old account having the semblence of being active. As to old messages, after a reasonable period of time, why would any service provider want to clog thier servers with unnecessary data.

I'm not defending anything. It's just basic common sense and business practice. If it's a paid service and you no longer pay for that service what business in thier right mind would keep providing it? You stop paying your phone bill, pretty soon you can't make calls. You stop paying for cable and pretty soon no TV. You stop paying the kid down the street to mow your lawn and pretty soon he stops mowing your lawn etc. etc.

I use mobile me - I don't use the e-mail service because I also think "xxx@me.com" is stupid looking and sounding. But the other services it does provide are worth the annual fee to me. Others may feel differently.

Hosted Exchange (+ Dropbox, ...) > Mobileme

As a replacement for Mail, calendar and tasks Yes, but it doesn't integrate well with all Apple devices and OSes. There is no support for categories for example. When looking at my calendar on my ipad or iPhone, I see all exchange items under the same "calendar". If iOS offered a better integration, then I would say that you are right.
