From day 1 Apple's goal was to:

a) make money
b) allow the Steves to "be their own boss."

Improving people's lives is just a means to those ends.

Can you please verify that you are the real Steve Jobs of Apple?

You don't seriously believe Jobs would register under his own name on MacRumors do you? :rolleyes:

How would you propose that I do that in a way that you might actually believe? Not much use.

Hi Steve! :D

We are all looking forward to it ;)

:apple:

Thanks, as am I!

Where's the new i5/i7 MBPs Steve? ;)

I won't comment on future products. Stay tuned!

Any idea what this "tablet" will do?

I have been reading about this Tablet for a long time now and the few things I am sure of is this... Okay it's going to have eReader capabilities, and something to write on, either with a touch keypad, or a writing tool (my guess), and then the rest is kinda like a iPhone (only an educated guess based on what I have read). I know it will be much more and have lots of cool stuff, especially for Jobs to the this excited about. I never heard him use such language with any product, well before a conference, not even the iPhone. So I imagine this will be very interesting. Of course his words are good for business, rumors make the stock go up, so it could all be a play, or it really is something amazing. I hope it is amazing. I recently received a Sony eReader for Christmas, and love it, at first I was not sure though. For me the eReader aspect is not important (obviously) , it's the rest. Plus I have a 3G 16GB iPhone, wanting a new one (waiting till the "next gen"), plus I want a new Mac Pro when Apple goes Blu-Ray (if they do), so a new Apple toy would be awesome, I really hope it's not 75% eReader, 50% would be fine. But I doubt Jobs would be this excited for a eReader IMO. For that would not be much of a leap in technology, no matter how great of an eReader it would be.
No matter what I am looking forward to the 27h to hear what this is all about, and hopefully it is great, because I am do for a new toy and really want something new from Apple that changes the way I do things, like My Mac G5 did, and my iPhone, not to say my other products didn't change my life, but those two really did!
I hope we all get something out of this Itab or what ever they will call it, and it changes our Apple geeky lives. (I mean that as a compliment!)

I was not a believer of the tablet for a long time. However, all the evidence coming out over the past three weeks is unlikely to be a coincidence. Something new is going to be announced Wednesday. However, you're right. It would be quite funny to see the reaction of this forum if the tablet was not released.

He did....

I hope Christ did not plan his second coming for this Wednesday. He won't get any coverage.

Well, not Christ, but the president of the United States did plan a major event for Weds: The State of The Union address. Might just end up playing second fiddle to the tablet. Ha! I wonder if he will mention it in his address?

Someone said it would be "very revolutionary". How about completely wireless? ...and totally environmentally protected

* inductive charging
* bluetooth audio
(* obviously wifi data)
* waterproof/sandproof/dustproof/washable
* droppable

Can only dream....

It's my hope that the device (iTablet/iPad/iWhatever) will offer more than just a static display. Imagine a physics text that can show demonstrations of concepts (eg. video of the collapse of the Tacoma Narrow Bridge for mechanical resonance), or a civil rights history text with video/audio of MLK Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech.

Not to mention iPorn(tm)... :)

The one-more-thing: He will proclaim himself god on Wednesday. Then gets pelted with iPhones. :D

It would be total meltdown. :D

Then loads of people would put up posts saying that they already knew because their sister's boyfriend's cousin works at the Apple Store in Nowheresville and they'd been told it was just a new version of iLife with a lovely paint program.

Then more people would pile in and say the new version of iLife was worth the premium price tag because its a premium product. And so on, and so on.

What are we going to talk about after Weds night????

I've not seen the Apple PR machine crank out this much hype in a long, long time.

Either it is genuinely great, or they've spent a heck-ton of money developing it and not a few jobs (no pun intended) are riding on it being a success.

I kept thinking the same thing, but then went back and looked at all this hype, and realized... it's not coming from Apple, it's coming from us, and this website.
